Just goes to show how you don't need a whole new engine to make a sequel. I'm sure they started working on the changes even before the original released, allowing them tons of development time to perfect everything about the game. This is basically Splatoon Version 2.0

I know, right!? When I first saw the trailers for the original Splatoon, I thought it was a bit weird but awesome! I couldn’t get it of course cause I never got a Wii U, but I only expected it to be that one game. Once the second came out I brought it and LOVED it! I’m so stocked that I’m gonna be able to play the third. I’m happy with how well this series is doing!

This series has changed my life for the better, and has led me to such a caring and friendly community. (For the most part) Thank you, Nintendo for creating a game series unlike any other. The game isn't necessarily going to be Rated E. On the bottom left it says "RP" so it could end up having a Teen rating.

Feels crazy watching this after Splatoon 3 was announced

Ok , this is my prections for the plot (spoiler alert from the first game) 1. The Cap'n probably has died thus the Marie shot with the jappanise funeral clothes. 2. Octavio escaped when Cuttlefish died 3. Callie will think that Octavio did it and go to face him herself but she will get captured 4. Marie is going to worry about Callie missing and going to ask you (agent 3) for help.

6 years ago, a sequel to a masterpiece was released, the sequel we didnt need but the sequel we deserved, thank you for everything splatoon 2, i will now continue my career in splatoon 3

One minor nitpick, but I hope we can also choose if our characters' tongues are either the same color of our ink or just a fleshy pink like Callie and Marie. As for the hairstyles, I hope there is a boy's hairstyle with the tentacles down also.

Kiawe There's a whole new story in this game. The war has been recaused by the death of the squid sisters. During the rising sea levels they have gotten hurt and had been replaced. That's why you can't see Marie's face.

It's 300 dollars. You got to admit, that is pretty cheap in console standards, plus it's cheap with ALL the things we are getting. They have to make the money back somehow. Hopefully it ain't expensive.But still, consider it a compromise. Cheap console but you have to pay for online services.

ReallyCoolKamics No. You have to pay to play online. So if you buy Splatoon 2, you'll only be able to play single player mode if you don't pay for their online subscription. I guess the good part is that it's free until the fall of this year. Splatoon 2 comes out in the summer so you'll likely have free Internet for a month or 2.

To be fair it might have a good local multi-player this time.

12/21/19 It’s been so long, and Splatfests are a thing of the past. (the exception with custom private battles) The game is still very active with a big community playing it, though it gets a bit mundane. Despite that, me and a whole lot of people find joy in it. Until the next game comes out, I’ll always be a part of the Splatoon community.

The fact that I came here after 1 year of playing splatoon 3, this trailer made me cry so much because of how nostalgic this is, 7 years ago.. 7. Years. Ago, i couldnt believe how much this game had changed me, Splatoon 2 will forever be in my heart.

Coming back to this after the release of Side Order is something else. I remember in 3rd grade, right after Splatoon 2 came out , I was begging for this game to my dad. When I saw the game's art, I immediately fell in love, and it's been my special interest ever since. I immediately fell in love with the music, and much like the Octarians, I feel as though my soul has been enlightened by the Calamari Inkantation (as silly as that may sound.) I know I'm only in 9th grade now, but god do I feel like an old man coming back to this. Thank you so much Nintendo, for releasing this funky whacky blessing of a game.

I remember how excited I was for this years ago. 2019 anyone? Edit: It’s 2020 now and I still love Splatoon even though I don’t play it as much as I used to. Anyone think that Splatoon 3 will be a thing? Edit: holy fricking crap get me out of 2021 and place me in 2022, splatoon 3 is COMINGGGGGG Edit: It’s 2022, year of Splatoon 3! That feeling I had when Splatoon 2 was announced is definitely coming back now. Here’s to hoping that Splatoon 3 will be more than what everyone’s expecting!

PurpleOJ I think there's three reasons she's there. 1.) The Squid Sisters have been disbanded, thus the generic attire. 2.) Marie is wearing an outfit for Japanese funerals. This implies someone passed away, who might be Cap'n Cuttlefish. 3.) Callie was abducted by the Octolings as a retaliation of stealing the Zapfish. Remember, without the squid sisters, Inkopolis was dull.

I have noticed small deferences Coming out of the ink with the shot loaded is different, it takes a little jump And the model of the squid boy (in the transformation from squid to Inkling) retains the dark spot of his eyes, similar to Splatoon 1

When I wanted Splatoon on the Wii U and begged my dad to get one for me, he stood his ground and told me to wait for when A. A new entry for the series came out (he told me it’s been out for years now), or B. The Wii U dropped in prices. Thank you dad. Now you have to spend $460 for the newer, better game 😆
