The suffering of Christ put into the believer's life is for the continual revelation of God's grace. It is part of the tools used by the Spirit for us to know God in Christ fully.

This is the reason why Dr. Poythress is my favorite New Testament theologian from Westminster Theological Seminary. The way he expounded upon the sovereignty of God with fidelity to the Scriptures is unparalleled. I praise God for scholars like him who humbly exposit the Word, preach faithfully, and remain in a humble state of faith and intellectual growth. God truly is sovereign in all the affairs of the world. If we try to study the ontological reasons for Godʼs divine actions as revealed in the Scriptures and as given by sound logic, He as the only transcendent Being over all creation is unaffected and has total control over all things. This fact is enough to make me trust Him for all of my life. The Lord is never dependent upon anything. He knows what He is doing and will accomplish His perfect purposes from beginning to end.
