It's interesting that Father talks about when we first wake. My dog is always awake by around 4am. He likes to come in and get petted, and say Good Morning. Thus used to make me cranky; until one day when I was reminding him it was still dark out, and trying to go back to sleep, the Bible verse popped in my head, " This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it". I realized then, that it took my dog to show me what that meant: here he was, my little Sheltie saying, " We are alive! We have another day together! How wonderful!❤" I realized that is what we need to be doing. Now, when my little Lucky Penny comes in, I say Happy Tuesday! And give him hugs and kisses and I thank God that we both woke up and have another day to spend together. Because the Tuesday ( or whatever day) will come, when one of us doesn't wake up. None of us is guaranteed another Tuesday, or Wednesday. If we could stay in the moment with God, the way animals do, instead of always lamenting the past or worrying about the future, we would all live happier, and less sinful lives. Thank you Father, for all of your short videos. I have everyone I know watching them. God bless you. 🙏✝️

There were saints that said don’t have animals around you in the morning so they don’t distract your morning prayers. With that being said what you wrote is beautiful. Maybe God has used your animals to wake you in Thankfulness to God.

@@TruthPerspecive my dog does my prayers with me! I have pillows on the floor next to my bed for prayers,, but mostly because my dog is afraid of thunder.. when there is a storm, I sit on those pillows and he hides behind me.. There are many times when I'm kneeling by my bed and look over to see my little dog next to me, standing on the pillows with his paws together on the edge of the bed in total silence and I would swear he is praying, or waiting while I do.

Thank you for a beautiful message, Father. I have to admit that I struggle with my prayer duties. I work nights 4 days of the week & then keep a day shift schedule the other 3 days. I also live in a ranch & things inevitably happen...a sick animal, the need to get hay in before it's ruined by rain, etc...that prevent me from praying at the same time each day. I also find that, since I flip-flop back & forth on my schedule, that my body is never certain when it should be awake & when it should be asleep. Consequently, I often fall asleep & sleep right through my prayer times. This has made it extremely difficult for me to establish a good Orthodox prayer routine & I carry much guilt over that. I'm still working to figure out how I can establish & stick to a routine but, in the meantime, I try to "make up" for my shortcomings by reciting The Jesus Prayer continually throughout each day as much as I'm able.

Thanks be to God our Father in Heaven for men such as you Father Spyridon. I see God has ordered my life in such a great way (as all things ordered by God are so good and right) that I now pray each morning and each night. I also find myself constantly muttering prayers to our beloved Savior, Christ Jesus. Thanks be to God. Pray constantly and always, God loves our prayers, think of your own earthly father in your life, if he is good, he loves to speak to you and know you’re doing well, to hear you happy and content with your life, particularly trusting in your Heavenly Father. This is the same with God. He loves our prayers, wants our trust in his glorious and perfect plan. Do this each morning and night, thank him for everything in the day, no matter how hard, because it was ordered by God and works to his glory. Do this and by the promise of Christ, you will know peace. God be with you all my brothers and sisters🙏🏻

(8:51)When Father talks about how the devil really hates the Jesus Prayer....funny, just today, I was out in the garden and started to pray very quietly or silently, the Jesus prayer and it felt so helpful to me. As I dove in, my neighbor, in his yard started to bellow and sing strangely. I laughed and kept praying, but was distracted. Another time@4am I was praying Saint Joseph prayers quietly in my house. The other neighbor shouted obscenities and screeched out his driveway in his vehicle and fled away. It shows me that the devil can use people or that they have demons around them for some reason.

Also, be sure you’re praying out loud instead of just silently in your mind. My priest says this is how we’re supposed to read scripture, too. And if you’re praying where other people are (outside of a church setting), just use a hushed voice. There’s something to occupying your brain with the verbalization of the words that helps keep you from being distracted by intrusive thoughts. Still distracted? Pray louder. 🤗

I’m always amazed at how many people leave comments on this channel mentioning that they are catholic or they are this or that. Father makes the situation perfectly clear in the last couple of minutes of this clip that it is “only in Orthodoxy” that one can be sure they are following the fullness of The Way and by the mercy of God be saved. To reject the one holy catholic apostolic Orthodox Church is a dangerous prospect. May our Glorious Lord Jesus bring all those teetering on this edge into the only place of refuge for all Christians, the place that bears Christ (Theotokos), the Orthodox Church. ☦️

I’m currently trying to find my way back to the Lord. My general goal would be to come back to the Catholic Church. I would lie, if I said that I wasn’t somewhat torn in how to proceed. I know next to nothing about Orthodoxy, yet here Father Spyridon claims that the fullness of Christ can only be experienced within it. A claim that the Catholic Church makes as well. I’ve listened to both Catholic and Orthodox priests and they all seem very sincere in what they believe. I’ve prayed about what path I should take but it’s not clear to me. I assume I’ll be sitting on the fence for yet some time, and can only hope that god will continue to be patient with me.

In summary of what is needed to learn: 1. A teacher and/or role models who are willing to guide us. Like the saints as our role models. 2. Being open to the holy spirit. 3. Ability to imitate examples on how good fruits are produced. 4. Enough rest, food and exercise. 5. Quiet time to reflect on what we have learned while feeling thankful towards god for his mercy during another day in which he is never going to fail in offering us the opportunity to learn his ways. 6. Realistic expecations or ourselves for each day of our lives. 7. Determination not to be distracted from learning gods ways during all of our prayers. All of our prayers which includes offering our heart, mind and our strength during our prayer life.

I fear I cannot find salvation, I will not be accepted. I am trying though.

This is a common temptation. Our salvation is utterly dependent on God’s mercy, therefore whatever your sins or weakness, try to repent and have hope in His love for you. Every sin is like grains of sand thrown into the ocean compared with God’s love.
