I fishspinnerbaits alot! Zman power finesse, Clausen, Indiana blades, mouserat, thin wire, awesome vibration. And my number 2 is Booyah tux and tail Black and Copper Colorado blades. Both are killers here in the upper Midwest. Plus black booyah is great at night. I've got alot of walleye on the spot remover color from war eagle also. Usually 3/8 oz is what i use. Thanks Matt.

I’ve found on Table Rock lake over many years that a Chartreuse skirt with orange tip catches lots of Largemouth and spotted where as just changing to a Chartreuse skirt with pink tip on the same spinner bait in the same location will start catching smallmouth and not the other species and switching back to the previous combination will stop catching smallmouth and pick up the largemouth and spotted again. I’ve experimented many times under various conditions to prove this is in fact not just a coincidence occurrence but can reproduce the results repeatedly.

Great video Matt. I totally agree with White and Chartruese and all Chartruese. Those colours work great here in Ontario for sure. I have had a lot of success with all white for decades too. Pure white and pure chartruese or combo do really well up here for smallies for sure. Spot remover is what I use for my chatterbaits when there are shad. Will see if I can get that sexy purple shad you mentioned that does great in tea/tanic water which we have as well in many of our lakes around me. Thanks again for a great refresher on old faithful! 😀

Normally I use mostly the colors you said but try the coleslaw/dayglow color in clear water if there's enough chop to toss a spinnerbait. It produces bigs and sometimes more numbers than clearish whites or bluegill colors. I like a white willow with gold Colorado and you can go dark trailer for a siluette in muddy water or brighter for the bold different look or more white to even out the bold. Very versatile!

When fishing at night on Toledo Bend, or Sam Rayburn, my spinner baits of choice are both WHITE or BLACK skirts with single Colorado oversized blades in chrome or gold colors!!! I keep both colors tied on and go from one to the other, whichever is getting bit the most!!! I have really caught as many on white as I have on black colors, and spinner baits on both lakes produce good size fish!!! Black for Bream and white for shad!!! Thanks for this video as it is much needed for all the differences amount all the fishermen responding to it!!! Thanks again MATT!!!

I fish spinner baits a ton this time of year because everything here stays flooded and muddy for the first few months of spring. War Eagle has a color called Mouse- I think that's right. It's an off white with some gold in it- the spots in my area tear it up. I have no idea what it looks like to them but I'm guessing it looks a lot like a crappie- whatever it looks like, they like it. It's a weird blade combo to- the larger blade is a cross between an Indianna and a willow and its gold- maybe that's what they like, Idk. They hit it even when they're being finnicky though- it seems to be a reaction bite. Which makes me think maybe the blades are irritating them or something. That said I've also seen them run up from feet away and grab it so- it must look yummy.

Thanks Matt for your sharing your time & experience, I've had good bites with sunfish & perch colors in early spring, double Colorado, 3/8 to 1/2 depending on how shallow the bass are, varying retrieves from slow rolling to waking & ripping it, letting the fish activity dictate speed, even whether to add a trailer or not, your so on point about patterning skirt color to forage species, your such an amazing fisherman & teacher, great MLF placing last tourney, Peace & Blessings!

Matt, I love your content and it's a good video . That said , you need to add Bluegill colors to the mix. I'm absolutely convinced that I consistently catch more 5 plus largemouth fishing inland lakes for largemouth where I live in SW Michigan with that color scheme than all other colors with Chartruese /white as my number 2 choice. The other thing I like is using black metal willow blades with the bluegill colors.

While they still work I've found one that's brownish ,olive and has flash painted blades that are olivish but still metallic. It's been money for me there and other places also. 45 years ago when I 1st started using spinner Baits I used to buy all different colors.. The one I used today at least 90% of the time is A chartruse and white as you mentioned. I occasionally use a white or a straight chartruse on certain situations. I agree with you 100% on the chartrse for smallies. I also use a lime green twin tail trailer which helps give the bait more color and the fish a better target even in off colored water. Sometimes in off colored water I will change my blades to a red or an Orange but most of the time I just use the standard silver or gold. Because my trailer doesn't hang off the back that far and give such a nice target I never use a trailer hook and have found it not to be a problem.

Any junebug type color for me is game. I’ve fished them in clear water and in muck and still get bit. It’s not quite as dark as a black and blue but makes a good silhouette in muddy water still. It works best in stained or muddy water with 5 ft ish visibility and kills Clearwater around grass for me at least. I haven’t tried purple spinner but definitely can see it killing the competition

@@MattStefanFishing I think it can make a big difference throwing something different than others in a tournament. It just seems like I get bigger bites too for whatever reason. Gets the bigger aggressive fish maybe. On a pressured lake, the bass see a lot of the same baits. Everyone is throwing a firecraw chatterbait for example. Give ‘em something different sometimes!

In trout fishing we use the smallest of hooks. This applies to spinnerbaits.

I don't know how people get fish to bite on these. Even at a lake where I caught 100 pike in 2 days, I could not get them to bite on any color spinner I tried. Spoons, jigs, senkos, bobber with worms, everything else was catching, but not spinner.
