He's not afraid to say everything that's bad either.

best videos on utube. i think taking a reel apart and explaining the thinking that went into it while spreading it's components on a table is the most complete and honest review offered.

Fascinating to watch how at ease you are doing this

Just put mine at 50° C in the oven for 30 min to soften the ball bearing grease, after that I just reel it for around 10 min, now everything runs smooth as you want. Just an idea for anybody who does not want to open the reel. Appreciate to have you on YT, thanks for your decent work. Greetings from Norway.

I remenbered this one comment and tried it out. I did it with a brandnew Spinfisher VI 2500, because it wasn´t as smooth as I wanted it to be. And it really helped! Thanks and greetings from Germany

Glad you enjoy them....penn kinda made me a believer with this reel too....I was very skeptical myself. If you buy via the amazon links or j and h links I get a 5% cut.... :)

I just bought a spinfisher on the back of your excellent reviews. I would have packed that bearing with red or blue grease though! The red stuff I use on bikes, motorbikes and cars is Silkolene RG2. It is very slippery and does not want to wash off.

My Penn slammer 4500 is doing the same thing. It was baptized in the surf and 2 days later sounded exactly like that. I was gonna replace the bearings but after watching the vid I'll clean and regrease the bering instead. Thx

Was thinking about getting one of the mid sized ones (around the 5k) for heavier surf stuff whenever I get to go to the sea. Used to have a Pursuit II which didn't survive for too long but that was solely my fault. I've actually always really liked some of the Penn stuff!

Excellent video sir!! Did you experienced wobbly rotor and bail after some time of use with this reel? I've been using my spinfisher v 5500 for a year now and its rotor is wobbly and makes strange sound. don't feel like lure fishing with spinfishers

Hi. I have a question for you. I bought the PENN spinfisher V 3500 reel and after pulling out of the box it goes quite hard and from what I saw in the other reviews it is much smoother. So is it normal that sometimes it goes harder and then it gets better or should i send it away for warranty Best regards :)

I own a Penn Slammer III and Penn Battle II. I think the Spinfisher VI looks great; I may need to go for the live liner version...

Previous ssv had the exact same issue with that bearing. The new o-ring might’ve help a bit but it’s inevitable water will get in.

Yup it needs a true physical seal not something that relies on surface tension

Awesome reel!

Lock down drag and reel it under hot water in the sink. Usually works for me. Loosens up the salt..

How well was the bearing lubed from the factory? Would packing this bearing with a high quality synthetic grease have prevented this?

I'd love to build a custom rod for that daiwa kyhoga for throwing swimbaits for snook and redfish in Florida .

Love my spinfisher VI.. I've been using spinfishers since 3rd gen. Ive had the 3rd 4th 5th and now 6 gen. I gotta say price wise the 4500 VI is about a 100$ cheaper then when the V was the newest one out. I remember paying around 270 for my SSV4500LL.. Now on Amazon for a SSVI4500BLS 129$. What I did with my SSV4500BLS is got the whole Slammer 3 4500 handle setup and thru it on the SSVI4500BLS and it looks so much nicer. I get tons of compliments. I know Bailless is usually for surf fishing but I've been using it off a dock because I bought it 2nd hand brand new in the box for 50$ so couldn't turn it down.

Hello Friend I have a question, what kind of grease do you recommend to grease my Spinning reel? Can I use marine grade grease?

One of the main reasons i watch is the thruthfulness in every review .....Keep it up ...P.S gimme Quantum hotsauce !! .imo it works just wis h i could get a bigger volume of it ....LOL

Is the Spinfisher vi an upgrade to v? The v have the slammer drag and is sealed too

Returned a Penn Battle 3 2500 after using twice. Never dunked and it just seized up and started grinding.
