It's that bitter-sweet type of wholesomeness that shows that Tim represents one of the many reasons why Pete does what he does 😭 He only spent a single night getting to know Tim, yet Tim had that much of an impact on Pete - it's really nice that the writers still remember Tim and come back to down-to-earth stories like this every now and then ☺

It breaks my heart how so many of the best superhero stories are often just them dealing with the mundane, or at most, situations they can’t exactly “punch”. A lot of these stories often have 0 resolution or even fights. The epitome of “small scale” The issue with this is that the writers and producers behind superhero movies is that theymre obessed with spectacle and have begun to brainwash the populace over decades on how the best superhero stories are the one of spectacle. “Fate of the world, “girlfriend/partner/dog/wife etc in distress”, “life on the line, “destruction of the heroes personal life or their hometown/state/country” whatever These types of stories are great and can be moving, but its not all of what nakes heroes stories great, nor is it the only way they can be great. It’s heartbreaking that we’ll never see these types of stories be on the big screen, tv is the closest we’ll ever get. Stories like these are “too small” for theaters, they apparently “lack value” I like homecoming and iron man 3, but its sad thats as close as we’re ever going to get with what i’m talking about. We’re never going to just see a full movie of cap and tony just going cross country to bars and pouring the feelings out or some shit. Shits rough man.

I talked about it in a completely unrelated comment section on a comic dub starring wolverine and spiderman chilling at a bar, alone on a holiday. It was an official story and really good! I’d unironically love to see it stretched out (with the essence intact) and adapted as a movie to the big screen! The kicker? Like in the story, spiderman never removes his mask. Aka the celeb casted to play this specific version of peter should be kept a complete secret from the moment the film is greenlit and literally never revealed ever. We never see his face. Actor should go uncredited in the credits too. Maybe even get multiple bug name actors on set with a similar height and build to psyche out leakers, never confirm or deny who was actually specifically in the suit. Spiderman’s already such a big selling point, who’s playing him would be irrelevant and be a good way to get buzz going. Keep the actors identity a secret officially. Even long after its released. It’d get leaked to the public eventually somehow, but i like the idea of only referring to the spiderman in the movie as just “spiderman” And like garfield before him, it’d be a nice way of showing the actor conveying feeling PURELY through body language alone (its a very sweet and personal story after all) But obviously, with how the american economy is, how greedy hollywood is, how expensive this could be and how afraid hollywood can be when it comes to taking risks on bigger properties; such a movie will never exist, despite the fact that it would 100% sell A chill, low stakes, vacation spiderman and logan team up movie of them mostly just exploring each other’s characters and hanging out? Shit would be so bold that it’d probably be the top spiderman movie for decades 💀

When I was little, my grandparents would usually look after me a couple days each week. My dad loved marvel comics when he was a kid, so my grandma had a ton of old issues of Spider-Man still with her. I grew up when the Raimi movies were coming out, and I thought Peter Parker was just the coolest. I loved his colorful outfit and mask that covered his whole head. I thought his powers were so creative and was amazed when he swung around saving Manhattan from Willem Dafoe. I looked at Peter and saw someone I wanted to be. At least once a week we’d sit down together and she’d read through half an issue with me; I’m pretty sure it’s how I started to learn to read. I remember being on the edge of my seat on the ride to her house because I couldn’t wait to see how Spidey was gonna get out of this one. When I was ten, she died of liver cancer, and was suffering from multiple kinds at the end of her life. She was always of fragile health, suffering from asthma her whole life and surviving a total of four heart attacks. When my parents told me grandma was gone, I cried harder than I think I ever will in my life. She was 4’10 and 80 pounds, and she was the strongest person of all time. She taught my grandpa how to speak English when he came to America from Nicaragua. She raised my dad and his sister almost all on her own while my grandfather worked at the welding plant all day. She took time to humor this weird little kid twice a week while his parents were working late, and made the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the world. She looked just like Aunt May, and I think sometimes I forgot that they weren’t one and the same. Spider-Man is my favorite superhero.

There’s also that one story of a kid that runs over and “takes” a bullet for Spider-Man during a bank robbery. Peter, of course, could doge it just fin but the kid had no way of knowing. Far as he knew, he saved Spider-Man. We then learn that this kid had always been a huge Spider-Man fan and even made his own comics where he (in a big costume) and Spider-Man fought crime together and where best friends. MJ consoles Peter but he’s so guilty, and in the last panel we see how overcome with guilt and powerlessness Spider-Man is at not being able to save this kid. It’s a beautiful story, really.

The Leah one hit me harder than the other 2. Thig girl died of the cold and starvation, sepsis from a small cut and no shelter. All preventable, all easily solved. So seeing this girl slowly die and still smile and look up to her hero who was literally lighting up her sky, yet he never came down, not in time. At least she got her wish before she passed on, not just in the from of a hallucination but her hero actually trying to save her Spiderman facing a weekly villain is one thing but the fact that he truly breaks down when he sees something he could've solved so easily, thats what make spiderman my favorite hero. He's more man than spider, as dumb as it sounds.

this is kind of why spiderman is such a recognizable superhero, he’s not a fantastical figure flying around with mythical origins and reality shattering superpowers and situations that people can only imagine, he’s just an ordinary man who was given the power to help others, he isn’t a multi-billionaire and he doesn’t only fight world-threatening villains, he’s your friendly neighbourhood spiderman, tending for the weak whenever he can, for the weak that most if not every other superhero may not ever encounter if at all. he can save the world if he wanted to, but he chooses to help the smaller instead. (though, he is already saving the world by these acts that seem small to other superhero acts)

Moments where Spider-man helps children always hit me in the feels. The moment in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when he helps the kid being harassed by bullies with the science project is still one of my favorite moments in Live Action Spider-man. I got choked up watching this when it showed that Tim is still someone Peter thinks about as a significant person he misses and wishes was still alive just like Gwen and Uncle Ben. That Spider-Bite story hit so hard in the feels for me, I still think about the ending. Oh my god, that's a gut punch with him being frightened by being alone and drifting away. The art in the Leah story was beautiful and the story is obviously inspired by the Little Match Girl from Hans Christian Andersen with how the comfort in her finale moments came from the memories of her Grandmother who helped her get through life.

@@lukasprogamin6044 Same. His portrayal was the most authentic Peter Parker in my eyes, personality-wise. Tobey and Tom both give him their innocent, goofball takes but I feel like boiling him down to that as his default leaves out room for complexity. I think emphasizing his loneliness was a good decision since he did feel parental abandonment and desperately wanted to make things work with Gwen because they love each other. I like that he is noble in a believable way. Like wanting to help Max before he lashes out at him. I actually like the Webb movies a lot but it was a bad decision to rush Harry Osborn into the plot and have him kill Gwen. When your actors have onscreen chemistry that good don't squander it! Harry was barely allowed to have a presence in the story.

Anyone out there with cancer or whatever crappy metaphorical plague that you have..... I hope you get through it. I've been cancer free for about 11 years and I still have side effects from the treatment. So don't write off cancer survivors as lucky or blessed, because we still go through a lot, even as young adults. Cancer does mean a lot to me. Both in good and bad ways, so I hope that anyone with cancer or a family member with cancer that sees this knows that there are people you don't even know exist, thinking of you.

Before I watch the video, I wanna point out one single page I've seen of a Spider-Man comic that hit me super hard. It was one of the ending pages that featured Aunt May sitting on a bench, and she's saying in voice-over about how she didn't want to worry Peter, but... She found a lump. The sign above her shows the name of the clinic, and it's revealed to be a cancer doctor. Even without context, that one page hit me hard. Cancer is one of my worst fears, and if that happened to me, I would be going to a different kind of doctor. I'm not nearly as hopeful as others would be.
