I was in the theater when I saw the scene. It had an intense effect on the audience. The women in the audience seemed to collectively lose their breath. Even the guys in the audience thought it was a great romantic scene. I heard a lot of people talk about it in the lobby after the theater let out. It was one of the most iconic on-screen kisses of the era.

It's quite possibly the only kissing scene in movie history that men actually find romantic.

Gotta give props to Tobey, he had to hang upside down in the pouring cold rain which was going down his nose and making out with Kirsten at the same time basically suffocating himself to get through the scene even said in a interview they had to take cuts for him to gasp for air. Kiss aside, notice how much more brutal & direct Peter is with the thugs in this scene. He knew what they wanted to do to the woman he loved. Especially on the last guy he lifts you can tell that he's angry and probably inches away from commiting murder before reigning himself in. It's great.

Nope. It was a completely original Sam Raimi idea. He was inspired by the visual of Spider-Man moving his mask half-up his face whenever he ate something in the comics.

Kirsten really gets too much hate for her role as MJ. I honestly enjoyed seeing how flawed she was, and how superficial her and Peter’s relationship was. It fit with how messed up she was coming from her family situation, and Peter also only liked her for her appearance, showing how flawed he was which was interesting to see from his perspective too. MCU Spider-man feels too perfect compared to the original spider-man for what Stan Lee intended to be his personal problems.

Another reason why Tobey's Spider man is leagues better than Holland: this one straight up hurts you. Holland just webs them up and calls it a day. This is like the drawing scene in Titanic, pure Hollywood classic. It's beautiful to see how Sam Raimi took the comics and give his own personal vision. This was always my favourite score in any of the Spider-Man movies. Sure TASM 2 had Hans Zimmer's awesome touch and Homecoming brought back the 60's theme and updated it, but how Elfman did it in this film was emotional and very intense, just the best IMO

IKR! I love how Danny Elfman always has this bittersweet melody to his music, he knows just when to highlight the tension and when to slow it down for the more quiet moments. I've actually just been getting into this trilogy. My brother watched them all the time when we were kids but I wasn't sure if they would be my thing back then. Now I'm starting to become more open minded and less worried about not understanding everything at once.

Legendary. I was so young at the time, I was spoiled early on with this film. Nothing's ever come close since.

Getting a chance to kiss your life long unreachable crush for the first time! This scene is one of the most romantic and memorable scenes. An ordinary person whose heart got broken badly by his life long crush would definitely shed tears at this.

I always come back to this video because of this comment. Let me tell you, it CAN happen. You may not end up with them, but having had two amazing first kisses with the girls I was crushing on in the last three years, I can testify that the experience is really sublime. Your breath goes away, you feel like your heart stops and music really starts playing in your mind. Love is usually impermanent, but those short moments of pure joy and connection are worth the pain it usually brings.

Best scene ever. Imagine how Peter must've felt🥺🥺

LMAO you have no idea how many times I have seen this scene before but it still is one of the most amazing kiss scene to me

When I first saw the movie I thought she was going to take his mask down and see who he really was LOL

When people mention "Famous movie kisses," this scene is one of the first that comes to everyone's mind. And despite this being a 2000's film, it feels so ... "Old, Classic Hollywood." This scene is nothing short of iconic.
