@brawler5760 Yes, there is healing in this movie. not literally, it's mentally. Peter learns to accept Gwen's death and that the city needs SM, and in the process, he learns to heal. Look, I know that this movie isn't that great, because I don't like it either, But that's not to say that the message that is shown in the title (lotus) isn't in the movie.

Fan projects are always like this though. Lots of technical wizardry but with porn grade acting.

I will say, fan film acting, even when bad, usually has its own charm. Like, it tends to be clear that the people involved are really enjoying themselves.

Tbh, even though MCU Spider-man is my favorite version of the character, I'm always down for something a bit darker. There are good ways of doing that, but the way this movie did things is my least favorite way of making things darker.

@@miczilla_ Tbh, it's kind of hard to put into words, but I'll do my best! Basically, when it comes to "darker storytelling," I tend to hate it when movies just opt to have all the characters be moody and distant 24/7. Even in the context of something being a story about grief, it just makes every conversation feel stilted and unnatural. Like, it feels less so like these are genuinely sad situations for the characters, and more so that the writers are just yelling "look at how dark this story is!" at the audience. I understand that these aren't professional writers, but it didn't make this movie any less hard to watch unfortunately.

My sentiments exactly. I get that some fans aren’t happy with the MCU’s more lighthearted approach with Spider-Man, and that’s fine. No Way Home gave us a glimpse of what a more mature Spider-Man story could look like, and it was handled extremely well. But, Lotus is just dark for the sake of being dark, and it lacks any real depth, heart, or even a sense of character development that is normally associated with Spider-Man. When your sole purpose of making a project based on a beloved character is because you hate the certain iteration of said character, and you act like you can do better, then your project is going to suffer as a result because there’s no actual love put into the project.

“Pretty impressive” how? They tried to mix like 4/5 different stories, the acting was terrible for the most part, we got one fight scene with a pedo and the other fight scene didn’t even last that long or look impressive at all, & Gavin was a dick to MJ at Gwen’s gravestone

Not to mention the sound and lighting and cinematography all suck ass. I mean for a “fan film” it’s still pretty bad they don’t follow any rules and the sound is not mixed well. Not to mention the terrible lighting

U would expect a fan film to really capture who the characters really are but this one in particular completely missed the mark, Peter is supposed to be this nerdy guy with superpowers but in this fan film he’s just an edgy guy who doesn’t care about anyone

Look. I think this movie is both really bad, but also really good. I think the dialog was the worst part and scenes went on a bit too long, but I think the messaging in the film overall makes it worth a watch. Its vague and makes you come to your own conclusions which is great. But yeah.. its a bit weird.

And let's be honest, it was Gavin's first movie and he struggled to get it out, polishing up without an effects. Crew was probably a pain in the ass and his confidence as a whole was probably battered because of all the controversy crap
