I like that Miles interacts with Miguel here. It makes it feel more established when they met again in the Spider-Society. I also liked how he constantly ask Miguel to be a part of the society but Miguel wouldn’t budge since Miles is the “original anomaly”.

The end credits of Into the Spider-verse show that the first portal watch was created after King Pin's collider incident. So no, he's not the first anomaly. Now technically, Miles isn't either. That honor belongs to Gwen, who was pulled into Earth 1610 a week before the incident that caused it.

I’m glad this scene got deleted for multiple reasons 1. It makes it seem like Miles and Gwen’s relationship hasn’t matured or progressed at all compared to what we see in the movie where yes she still views him as a person she needs to protect for his own good, she’s also able to view him as an equal as shown in their “date” scene. 2. Gwen being completely disrespectful and condescending to Miles even outright calling him a kid like he’s a literal child. 3. Character regression on Miles’ side like no he doesn’t even need a mentor, he wants to grow into his own independence as seen in ATSV, saying he needs someone to show him the ropes just completely regresses his character development in ITSV.

Saying he needs someone to show him the ropes does not regress his character development. It can be true depending on the context; miles has grown into his own from the first film sure but he’s still inexperienced compared to the other spidermen. Miles IS a kid, that’s not derogatory. If anything, it’s made obvious in the second film from some of his reactions to the stakes/the main conflict. Obviously he’s not a “literal child”” but ..he’s still a kid. Pretending like he doesn’t have more to learn is not correct -which I’m sure will happen in the next film

  • @Leavce

    @Leavce

    10 ай бұрын

@@jaysax7381 he does have more to learn but to say he needs someone to show him the ropes just like Peter B. did in the first film is a complete character regression and a repeat of his arc in ITSV. He wants to grow into his own independence, to stop letting people dictate his story which is made evident by how he’s treated by nearly everyone in ATSV (Miguel, his parents, Gwen, Peter B.) He even straight up tells Peter B. to stop calling him a kid when he learned about his dad’s fate. His motive to join the Spider Society is to not only be with his friends but to be in a community that he can fit in since he already feels alienated by his own community due to being Spider-Man.

I think that what we got in the film was a lot better at putting Miles and Gwen on a more even playing field. In this scene Gwen is acting a lot more mature while Miles is being a pushy kid. He gets a hard no from both Gwen and the Spider Society yet still jumps in despite them not explicitly forbidding contect with him. Having him reveal himself due to jealousy about Hobie was also a bad move because it only further calls to attention his immaturity. The scene that we got was a lot better at showing both that Gwen also has a lot of maturing to do and that Miles has plausible cause for jumping in after her. He feels pressured both by never seeing Gwen again and by feeling partially responsible for The Spot getting loose in the first place, all while Gwen is panicking over her mistake which Jessica treats with a lot more severity. I think it'd be hard to empathize with Miles if this were the scene that made it in.

  • @matti.8465

I don’t think anyone would have had trouble empathizing with miles unless they had literally never seen the first film; additionally, a teenager acting like a teenager isn’t inherently bad or derogatory especially since Miles hasn’t been in the loop with the spider society. In the Final Cut, he still “disobeys” the spider society after getting several hard nos because he thinks he can fix everything without any loss so it’s not that much of a change. Its not bad to show dimensional characters having multiple dimensions, and there’s a high chance no one would’ve had that big an issue with it if it made it in. It’s easy to critique in hindsight but 🤷🏽‍♀️these interactions would’ve been welcome imo

I really like that we get to hear more of Miguel interacting with other spiders in a more relaxed way. In AtSV we only really see Miguel interact from Miles' perspective (I feel like the only break in his "I'm talking to the original anomaly who made my life hell" mood is when he talks to Lyla). Also lamenting the loss of Cyborg Spider-Woman and more Team Miguel interactions in general.

"why do you wanna be part of this so badly?" this is actually a great question and i wonder how it could have gone if they kept it in the movie... would change the tone of the movie i think. Miles' motivation, from the beginning, has been to be with the people who understand him most (and in a very simplistic way, "fit in" and be part of something). Miguel asking this question really brings light to how the Miles here had no "bigger reason" or the selfless sense of responsibility the more mature spiders would think a necessity yet - and miguel would be insanely more strict with Miles given his anomaly status and all.

This was a more situated conversion between Miguel and Miles. There is still a part in me that wished Miles and Miguel would team up. But another part of me loves the fact he didn’t take the offer. Because in some situations, the adult would accept the kid’s requests and train them, even while they are still dealing with they’re own problems. Miguel was still and still is processing the lost of his daughter and dimension. Plus Miles’s being an original anomaly. THE WHOLE REASON WHY HIS JOB IS HARD ALREADY! So I’m sort of in a way happy about the stereotype being broken. I love to see more of Miguel’s interaction as a leader. He seems for calmer here. Instead of putting Miles down first hand, he actually tries to listen and hear him out. I love, LOVE that Cyborg Spider was in this. They should have gave him more screen time. He reminds me of a grandpa talking about the WW2 😂. I also like how he just became apart of the disrespectful hype about Miles’s suit. When he said it looked infected, I had to pause and walk around the room for a hot minute. Now for an artist’s POV, the storyboarding is MMM! 😤🤌 The perspectives and the camera angles were wonderful! I can really get a feeling of who’s where and what’s going on! The color pick for every character to show who’s who makes it less confusing as well. Even though this is a simple sketch, you can really define the expressions they are showing. It’s both funny and creative I LOVE THIS DELETED SCENE VERY MUCH! 3:44, Miguel even showing an interest in why Miles would even want to join the Spider-Society seems as though he’s evaluating the slightest possibility that Miles might be worth the trouble despite being an anomaly. But Miles’ answer being a cliché “justice”, his cocky, self-aggrandizing demeanor throughout the scene, and, 2:58, perhaps, him correctly deducing Spot’s desire for validation is also shared by Miles and is the real reason he wants to join him, Miguel sees Miles as an immature and, more importantly, irresponsible “kid” who doesn’t know what he’s doing and could only end up making the situation worse if given the chance (which is proven correct when Miles attempts to save his father, threatening the stability of his reality on what Miguel sees as a selfish impulse that we the audience know is influenced by Miles’ guilt over his last interaction with his parents being negative). Normally, Miguel could have perhaps tolerated a new member of the group with a bit of an ego or a larger-than-life personality and an independent mind (after all, he did bring in Hobie, of course unable to predict that label-hating anarchist would steal tech to build his own portal devices and then almost immediately quit right after the group began turning on Miles) and not all of these individuals appear to be morally incorruptible paragons of virtue (much less of sanity considering some of them are literal animals, Scarlet Spider is a hysterical, broody moron, Jessica operates as Spiderwoman while pregnant and Lego Spiderman is considering one of their best assets by Miguel), but Miles being an anomaly was a proverbial stain on his resume that made any attributes that were otherwise passable an utter nightmare to consider. It’s one of the many reasons this movie is so engaging. Each individual has an understandable perspective that ends up clashing with others and in the end, no one really comes out on top. Even Miles escaping the Spider-Society, boasting how he “beat ‘em all”, only earned him getting trapped in a world run by supervillains with Prowler Miles. The closest we get to a true victory is Gwen’s reconciliation with her father and both her and Hobie assembling a rogue group of Spider-People to help Miles.

Very...strange interpretation of this scene and the movie as a whole. I have never seen "ego" be used to describe anyone (especially Miles) except Miguel in any comments or video essays on this considering how emotional, and aggressively impulsive he was, as well as how inconsistent his logic and actions were throughout the entire film. Also considering how many of the spider people were turning away from him as well, shows very clearly how Miguel doesnt really have any idea what he's doing and his ego allowed him to force project on others including Miles. What Miguel did, by the way being not in the same realm, even remotely close to what Miles is doing, obviously. There is a reason why the only people in Miguels society are Spiders that have already experienced their "canon events". Easier to move people to your side when you can have them mask any point of logic with the relief that their loses were not their fault but actually "beyond their control". And from the ending of the film, it seems that many are waking up from the cover of guilt masking the MANY inconsistencies of Miguel's lack of logic. The reality being, if any one of them knew what Miles knew, they would do the same thing.

@@SlyMagma Hence why I say no one comes out on top. No one in this film is 100 percent on the right sight. Miguel and others in the Spider-Society have a different flaw than Miles (who risks endangering his universe to save his father) or Gwen and Peter B. (who keeps secrets from their friend in a misguided attempt to protect him, while Gwen is really only protecting herself from potentially losing him and ends up losing him anyway) that they have taken too large of a responsibility in maintaining the multiverse from threats like the collider or Spot and it has made them apathetic, callous and cruel (almost numb to suffering as they see it as an inherent part of their lives that can and should never be improved, lest they risk losing that responsibility, which ironically may make them unable to always recognize when things are in their control and when they can or should make different choices, as Peter B. learns with having restored his marriage and having a daughter due to Mile’s indirect encouragement), with Miguel and Jessica being prime examples. Miguel is desperate to not let his failure be repeated by anyone else, but the measures he takes to prevent those failures are questionable, as is his status as a Spiderman to a degree (a character partly defined on the desire to save everyone and never being willing to sacrifice others to succeed in that goal). Miguel’s interference in another showed that (at least from what we’ve seen and what has been shown at present) that even something as ostensibly harmless as being in another universe too long can destabilize a reality and Miles attempting to prevent a major event that is supposedly part of Miles’ timeline, the death of his police captain father, would from Miguel’s perspective, almost assuredly destroy Mile’s universe, hence why he becomes so angry when Miles still goes through with trying despite him directly explaining to him why he shouldn’t. However, this all hinges on wether or not Miles saving his father will indeed destabilize his universe when he inevitably attempts to do so in the sequel. Until then, we only have the supposed evidence offered by Miguel in his presentation and the dimensional rift that opened after Miles saved Captain Singh that the Spider-Society claimed they’ve not always been able to stop from destroying universes before when a disruption occurs (and something that until confirmed otherwise, wasn’t caused by the Pav’s universe’s collider exploding or the Spot’s power-up) that prove the danger of Miles attempting to save his father as legitimate and that he is indeed wrong for trying to. I’ve honestly gone back and forth on wether the writers would actually commit to their main character being in an un-winnable scenario where he has to let his father die (Flashpoint style) or find a way to “break canon” on a technicality the way Gwen indirectly saves her father from his predicted death when he resigns as police captain (which could just mean that some other officer could end up replacing him, get close to Spiderwoman and die, thereby maintaining canon but with someone else in the role, just as Miles’ life became “assimilated” by his role as the replacement Spiderman and he ended up almost inheriting typical Spiderman tropes into his life, most prominently his lost loved ones).

" The issue is that there are so many clear inconsistencies to even humor that logic. If he believes that even being in another universe too long can destabilize a reality, why is there an entire spider society of spiders from other universes all existing in Miguels singular universe with no trouble. More importantly, how is Gwen able to live there for months with zero problems. A spider person staying in a universe too long can destabilize it, unless its gwen in Miguels universe, nor is it not a problem for a spider-woman to be completely removed from her universe for months with zero problems. Like NONE of Miguels logic makes any sense. It has already been discussed at length the inconsistencies with his logic on what happened in Mumbattan. A canon event caused by an anomoly that only exists because of Miles, as well as Gwen not doing her mission properly....but the spot was supposed to be there to cause it...but Miles was not? Yeah we will see what happens in the next film. But based on the inconsistencies, its pretty clear that Miguel is either out right lying about the canon, or is drastically hiding important details we need to know.

This is a really good scene, glad I got to see this. It's interesting because this must've been cut early as the continuity is noticeably different. Miles already knows about canon events and such so early on.

if they went FROM this writing TO the better one we got in the movie then I wouldn't mind giving btsv another 2-3 years to finish if it means they can have longer time to think things through about how things should go. I wouldn't empathize with Miles or Gwen as much if this was in the final cut. This one is kinda off putting.

Ngl I think this is a scene that could’ve extended the series. Like ASTV is a two parter but this plot could’ve made this movie it’s own entity and in the next one he becomes his own man. So in this version he learns how to become his own man and the next movie he just is completing his arc. I like the movie we got tho as is

I like the idea of this scene. I always felt like it was weird that the spider society wasn't seen more throughout the movie and that Miles and Miguel (who ends up being the main antagonist of the film) didn't meet until just before the climax. It also sets Ben up a lot better. It just in general establishes things that pay off later. But... in practice the scene is a bit sloppy. Miles comes off way less mature, and Gwen comes off even more cold. It just needed some refining, y'know.

Rly glad this got deleted, the multiverse line from Miles is a foreshadowing but also kinda takes a lot of cinematic building away, the one we got in the movie is much better in pacing and reactions, it's just Gwen and Spider woman who talk there too, making the scene more close and emotional for the viewer since we see it through Miles' reactions, there are less words spoken and yet the impact after is bigger than ever.

While i like this type of interaction for most of them (likely something that would've happened on a prior mission to help set up the dynamic gwen usually experiences) this also feels like it was written before Gwen's storyline took the turn it did. It doesn't feel like this is the same lonely and lost gwen from the beginning of the movie.
