Imagine walking to your car after a hard day at work just to see Spider-Man throwing it into the wall while saying “Come on rusty, let’s dance”

What I love so much about this level and the one after it is how surreal the encounter is. Scorpion, this mysterious superpowered lunatic, raving on and on about corporations and spiders and how they "can't take him back", appears seemingly from nowhere, chased by fearsome attack robots. Even after battling Spiderman and being defeated, Scorpion still gets away, and we never learn who he was, where he came from, what happened to make him the way he is, or where he ever went after this. He showed up in an abandoned parking garage in the middle of the night, teamed up with Spidey for one moment, battled him, lost, and then disappeared as completely as he came. He's just a loose end in the game's story, and that's what intrigues me so much. It's amplified by the setting of this battle, the middle of the night with nobody around in a devastated underground train station. The battle that the entire world never knew even happened...

So true, would’ve worked wonderfully as the basis for an episode of an animated Spider-Man series where scorpion is introduced. Then later expounding on his origin and story. I love this game

Here's what I think happened. Mac Gargan was either a hippie off the streets or a guy being treated for serious mental illness. He was most likely taken in by Oscorp (or a rival company, since Osborn seemed to know nothing about Scorpion) paid off by Jameson (yeah, keeping that part of the story) in order to combat Spider-Man. He was given the suit and was genetically altered with scorpion DNA. What they didn't count on was his major fear of spiders, so he ran off to break free of this corporate scheme

This was one of my favorite missions ever scorpion was a bit of a jerk in this one, but in spider-man 3 game was kinda cool when him and spider-man teamed up.

Derris Bynum yeah that would've been cool, but if I was also honest the suits in Spider-Man 1 for scorpion and Rhino in 2 should've been kept in the game.

I loved this level cause it was filled with irony. You play as a guy with arachnid like powers and you're defending an arachnid theme villain from an army of arachnid themed robots.

This mission can be very annoying if you don't know the fastest ways to take out the spiders lol.

This level was easy. I think the hardest for me playing this back then was the level where you had to go up to Voltcher layer up top when it was on fire when he's throwing bombs and stuff at u. And the levels at Oscorp with the robots

Gonna go ahead and admit. This game didnt didnt do my hatred of large spiders any favors

On my first playthrough I didn't know I could throw around parked cars. Granted its painfully slow to carry them around, but you can turbo run around as Goblin, having him do a rapid jitter. It also leaves you wide open, making it one of the few objects you can hurt yourself with (You can with large cabinets, but Web-head shrugs off propane blasts and oil drums oddly enough.) Shame its only reserved for this level. Guess it would've been a little excessive for regular thugs.

My guess for this canon is he could’ve been an oscorp test subject who was in an experiment and kept against his will all enough to drive him to madness.

Scorpion was my favorite character from this game.

So is there like a reason why Scorpion is there? Like did we get an origin scene, or what?

In this game mac gargan has nothing to do with jjj and his experiment. He was failed test subject of some military experiment. These robots are chasing him because they think he’s spider man (because of his arachnid dna)

@@MichaelB13 I had this little note sequence in my head for years. It just struck me as the ultimate suspense/thriller/creepy sounding music. I'd have it in stressful dreams even. I had to come back to this specific part of this game through KZread videos just to find it again.

Not really, no. They're just scenarios that the devs of this game created using some licensed characters.

Scorpions costume is the same as the ps1 Spider-Man game but it makes sense since that was the bases for this one.
