It's amazing that Black Cats PS1 face got worse. Even as a kid I thought she looked bad. But seeing the earlier model upsets me.

I absolutely love these models. Maybe it’s just nostalgia talking, but this era of gaming should be an accepted art style in the same way 8-bit sprites are. Also, imagine this model remade as a skin for insomniacs Spider-Man, like Mario 64 for Mario odyssey

They decided that the PS1 was too low res for it to read well onscreen.

Interesting how pre-final Monster Ock has the glasses painted onto his model. It's just like how he's depicted in his icon during the final level chase.

One thing that always bothered me about the Dreamcast/PC Spidey model was that they changed the lenses to look more fish-like again (not as bad as 1999, just ever so slightly more apart than PS1 final). Even though it finally has web lines, I prefer the PS1 model purely because of this lol

Interesting thing to note about two things: 1: Scorpion's model change probably happened due to the then-new comics where Scorpion got his blue and green design, it might have been marvel execs asking neversoft to change it. 2: According to the design doc/Interview with the lead dev, Lizard was originally a boss (and in the storyboards where he's arrested) he was swapped with venom (Venoms boss fight was originally going to be on a bridge but he got put in the sewers due to time constraints.) I think Neversoft devs realized that Lizard usually gets cured, not really arrested, so that also put the kibosh on lizard going in the game as a boss.

Monster ock is clearly ultimate spider man theme … maybe the 3rd one be added along the nostalgia chain along with both games if somehow MAYBE SOMEHOW COULD RECREATE IT

I'll say this, what FEB.2000 Venom design did right better than the final builds is the symbol pattern actually cross underneath the armpits.

The Blender plugin that supports these models (PSX files) will be released soon, people can do what they wish with the models once its out.

Tony Hawk and Iron Man don't have any models in SM2000, I didn't include EVERY model like cap and punisher since you only see them in the character viewer and minimal changes are made to their models.
