Good review, I had the same failed download of the latest software for my new NX10. My fix was the same as yours, download the latest software to my laptop, save it to my micro sd card then install the card to the radio and start up the radio. Radio updated to 3.03 all good. I am glad that it is not a fault with my new radio, obviously a glitch that will be taken care of in the near future. It is a great radio and I am very happy with it, these new gimbals are fantastic. Incidentally, the reason for my purchase was to get away from open Tx equipped radio's and back to an easy to use set-up protocol that works for my old head. I am back in love with Spektrum.

When you pay $500 for a new TX you shouldn't have issues like this! Sure, this issue and other(s) will eventually be fixed but.......... HH should have done much more beta testing b4 releasing this new TX to the public - in my view!

Good overview. I do have a DX9 and think about getting a NX10. When transferring my planes to the NX10 do the voice alerts come across as well? Thanks.

Great video, now if HH would get them in stock and ship mine.. Have a NX8 for a friend and NX10 for myself on pre order.

Two weeks ago I was hearing mid-January now I'm hearing mid-February. Looking to get the NX8 as my first non-RTF TX. Got two planes waiting for the transmitter.

@@BillKisel I had heard last Thursday for the 8 and this Thursday for the 10 but seems things keep getting delayed cause of Covid. I have said before we are lucky to get anything these days but I am very impatient. I also have the new T-28 on pe order.

@@BillKisel The TX16 is a heck of a radio but is so different from Spektrum and typical radio systems, I had one i have a few videos about it on my channel if you happen to go that way, But i sold mine to get the NX10.

@@epoweredrc Looked at your channel... one stiff breeze and you lose half your planes. 😊 What do you think of the 10 channel OrangeRX instead of the much more expensive Spektrum NX8 TX? This would be if the NX8 gets delayed even longer and we're back into decent flying weather here in North Central, PA. Over and out.

Hi. As you said in the video, my NX10 connected to the wifi and registered OK but it froze on the software update. I powered the TX off and downloaded the update from Spektrum and copied it to a 32GB micro SD. I powered on the TX and it looked like the upload started but then just powered down. I now have an expensive paperweight. Any ideas please.

I've NEVER liked spektrum, myself. Recently, I got back into rc planes, since technology changed drastically since my last flight, 20 years ago. MY tx of choice, ended up being the DX6e. 2 weeks after my tx arrived, spektrum releases the NX line. I put it off to be sure I would love flying like I DID. 2 months later, I've UPgraded to the NX6. LOVE IT! The NX line has converted THIS die hard futaba dude! 👍😁

I made the jump from Spektrum to open source. I'm very glad that I did. I purchased a Radiomaster tx16s running edgetx. Futaba and Jr are falling really far behind. I'm shocked actually they were heavy hitters for the longest time

When you say that you can download any model for this transmitter does that only apply to models with a spektrum receiver? I am interested in learning more about protocols for transmitters and receivers. I'm wondering if protocol is really the magic word for knowing if a transmitter will be compatible with a receiver.

I purchased my NX8 in March 2021. I too had problems with the WiFi function. It locked up. I used an sd card and performed the sw update. However the WiFi function still locks up the transmitter. Tech support has not been able to provide a fix.

owning a dx9 and no model with more than 9 channels, is the switch to an nx10 worth it?

We had the same problem trying to update a NX6. Locked up. We had to use the card to do it. Ive been waiting on my NX10 since 3 December...

I also was unable to update via wifi at first. I copied the update to my SD card, put it in the NX10 and it was able to update off of the card. There hasn't been an update since then but it seems to be able to connect and check OK so hopefully, that is fixed. Not a great user experience to have one of the big features fail out of the box. I also wish the documentation for Spektrum products were better, and I think the NX10 is a bit better than my DX6, but there is still a lot missing that has to be found elsewhere.

The people that make the product obviously don't have to write the instruction manual. If they did they'd produce a more comprehensive manual that uses proper grammar.

NX8 - Used WiFi to Register, failed to install 3.06.02 but was able to load and installed the older 3.05.05. Maybe there is a bug with 3.06.02. Great video

Hi steve.just purchased a new nx8 transmitter couple months ago. When I first turn on transmitter there is a headset icon on screen I have no function when this is on .when I turn off and back on its not there and I have function. After transmitter is turned off for a hour or so then icon is back on transmitter. Till I turn off and turn back on.please help is my transmitter faulty?

I own a Spectrum DX7 Transmitter and it came with a Dual Charger so I can charge up my Transmitter and Receiver Battery packs at the same time. With the newer NX series Transmitters, I don't see a charger included with the "In the Box" items. How would a person with this newer equipment charge up their Transmitter and Airplane at the same time? Will I need two chargers?

Being these new radios have wifi and a space to register MY spectrum BS.. Spectrum should have space for us to share and back up our radios online. Also a diagnostics program to test our equipment.

Does the NX 6 satisfy most requirements for most BNF planes from Horizon? Been looking at a used DX8 or for almost same money a used NX6. Is six channels enough for a plane that also has flaps and gear? My budget keeps me from buying a new TX so looking

I cannot get my nx10 to connect to the internet at all. Now its telling me I need to update it..BUT OBVIOUSLY I CAN'T.

My DX6 has developed a hardware fault. Might be time to buy into another system.

I just learned from another Spektrum NX10 owner that there's a BIG PROBLEM with the NX10! Look at the recent posts on KZread regarding the NX10 and you'll find it where the owner describes the glitch in the software that allows the throttle to pulsate on/off every 10 seconds. HH has acknowledged this problem as it applies to various receivers, some of which I own so........I'm not buying the NX10 until I know that HH has released software that corrects this problem.

@@williamhoenstine5057 thanks for that info... I will wait on fix before I buy a NX6 as it looks like there maybe firmware issues. I'm also concerned about the use of a Micro USB for charging as these sockets are easily damaged and lots of care needed if plugging in often to prevent connection becoming loose

Would be nice if they got shipped out updated so they can update via wifi...Mine and apparently many others get stuck on the wifi firmware update page. Had to do the sd card update.

@@old-rcplane-phart pretty much that easy. For me it was a pain since I dont have a computer (hence why I bought it for the wifi capability) and no neighbors to ask (live in BFE).

Just to add to the complaint session....Ive had my NX6 for about 48 hours now the screen is locked on "calibrate" and won't move. Seems like it won't take a charge either. Not sure if low battery voltage is the issue but i'm sure somehow Spectrum will blame this on me and not warranty or replace it. It worked on RF 9.5 and I was having a blast learning to fly but now nothing just locked and stuck. Planning on calling tomorrow and maybe someone will actually answer the phone.....GDmit I just can't believe it, dead in the water after just a few days.

Looks like Spektrum is losing whatever edge they had on the RC market based on all the KZread complaints! I'll stick with my DX8 for the indefinite future.

The price!!! Wow! You could buy a couple of modern multi-protocol radios with hall-effect sticks and OpenTX for that price. Also, color LCDs are terrible in direct sunlight, give me a good monochrome LCD any day (but hey, I prefer function over fashion). That microSD slot is also poorly positioned -- don't stand this transmitter on wet grass because capilliary action will draw the water into the transmitter via that slot. Also, what's with a microUSB port in 2021? USB-C is a far, far better choice from every perspective. On the positive side, update via WiFi is great and the pre-configured models are also nice.

I completely agree! Jumper, Taranis, FrSky - work just as well, just as many features and a fraction of the cost. This hobby is already expensive, saving money where I can is important to me.

now its July 2021...everyone is complaining about all kinds of issues......many,many,many problems.....guess ill order the DX9 to get the channels I want....something that works.....I am afraid to buy the NX 10...tell me ,am I wrong ??? 500 dollars and it mighy,might not work properly.........help.

My Nx10 failed within days of receiving it. Had to send it in... Waiting.

@@jassem39 spektrum has a couple of RXs with enough channel support (i.e. 20, 12, 9) channels, and then you can always use one of the "serial" output style RXs as well.

I just had one gripe. But Easily solved. I was told i could just transfer my models from my old DX9 and import to the 10. I was exited the first night got ready to do it, However. My DX9 has the large SD card. The NX10 has the mini. That should be addressed in future Q&A's.. Had to run out and buy an SD card that comes with the adapter. And all solved. My other thing that bothered me was no cover to protect the usb port and other connectors.

Hi Ken. I do see what you are saying about the usb port but I was thinking about my phone and none of them have had a cover. Do you believe it will get damaged? Just a thought.

Also not a fan of Usb. Anyone knows usb ports wear out. I would have rather have a regular charge port.. The radio has WiFi and an SD card . So why use a usb to charge.

I have the DX8 gen 2. It works very well and doesn't have any issues at this point. I am disgusted to hear they are making the decision to phase it out. Usually phase out means no parts or service on them eventually. In a sense making someone buy a new transmitter. Threads and even on here I see many with issues and can't see a magnetic power cord and wifi that you end up using a downloaded file to a card anyways a very big selling point for an extra 150 dollars. Like the line of planes and receivers from Horizen and Spektrum here today gone tomorrow.

i have a dx8 also. l just order a nx10 2 weeks ago only dont know how i will tranfer all my planes from dx gen2 8 to new nx 10 they have difrent size cards . that was not very nice!!!!!!

I don't see where they've added value in any measurable amount to retire older models, but I guess the price point, what I am assuming is MSRP, is not too far off from what I paid for a DX8... only now you only get six channels (+ 1 for SAFE ) whoopee... for about the same price as the DX8 was ... only with 8 channels... 🤔.

Can you just add a plane by name or number?

USB Charging stupid idea has stopped me from buying shame.

I have one NX8 and they are rubbish, do not by them, I have a older model DX7S much better quality gimbles then plastic crap of the NX Also what is it with the pre installed settings for Eflight and Hobbyzone planes, most popular planes are not in there. Also try and update via Wifi, it does not work, so what are we paying for???? We are paying for junk and a color screen and sound that comes from a broken speaker, Again do not buy the new Spektrum, the older DX was much better I hear this con artist say that all the planes are pre loaded, its a big lie I have the Carbon cubb SS+ and it is not in there LIER

BUT Why do Spektrum make unpower serial for the cheaper once. stupied.. also WHY are Spektrum using outdated USB connector., and WHY have Spektrum removed BT in NX versions. it seem Spektrum want costumer to BUY a NEW Crapple transmitter unit each half Year.. I hate the CrApple buieness model. so crappy
