Thank you for the clear and very well detailed video. There is a bit of debate on this thread, between dusty pads (like most Brembo's) and non dusty ones. Normally the dusty ones bites a little more and have shorten brake distance in emergency panic braking. I get it that in normal traffic, we can easily adapt ourself to the lighter bite of some low dust pads, yet the moment that you need to slam the brakes to avoid an accident, a couple of meters shorter braking distance (in most cases the distance can be a lot shorter) can make the difference from life and death. I can live with some dust on the rims and get the car washed regularly.

Go check out the video of the Hellcat Go Man Go for brake pad change. I swapped over to some low dust pads and the car actually stopped shorter in panic 60-0 conditions and NO dust. I'm gonna do the same with the Camaro. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmWnzsR-ituuYLA.html

Yo speedy, great video on brembo brakes I'm doing mine this weekend, I agree bleeding the pressure off the pads is key to easy removal & installation.

Hey Speedy, great video! I also learned that good old water is good for cleaning brake fluid, as its water soluble. I've used brake cleaner vs. water, and water works a ton better. Plus, you get the added benefit of the fluid turning white when contacted with water, so you can see if you've missed any.

Yeah I try to be careful with the brake cleaner. Wipe it off the calipers right away if any gets on there. Better safe than sorry.

Piece of cake!!! I just changed my pads on my 08 Acura TL Type -S. Was skeptical at first but in all honesty was super easy. I did remove some fluid from master cylinder first instead of doing the bleeder screw method. There were Brembo pads on the car when I bought it, I elected to go with the Ake bono's instead due to the fact that the Brembos were dusting my wheels heavily on a weekly basis. I did reuse the shims that were on the Brembos and they fit perfect on the Ake's. As far as compressing the pistons. I honestly could have done it by hand, they moved very freely. I just hope the calipers stand the test of time cause I'm not at all interested in spending 300 to 400 bucks to replace them!

Great job on the Video! Only thing I would have changed was turning the rotors, which should be done when replacing the brakes.

My opinion is "sometimes" the rotors should be turned. In this case they weren't warped or having any vibration issues so I just replaced the pads. This is my wife's car and 10,000 miles later and still no problems.

I used EBC Red Stuff on my Challenger R/T. They don't last through a single track day. They are okay initially for performance driving on back-roads but eventually lose their bite before getting half way through their life. I recommend Hawk HPS + or Hawk Street/Race pads (HB509).

Thanks for the feedback. I've had experience with Hawk HPS+ pads as well and they were good with low dust, but didn't bite like I expected. We'll see how these to to compare.

8:28 unluckily in my case they do not want to come out easily. They are damn stuck. Some corrosion got involved under some element that allow brake pad to slide back and forth. That sucks.

Very thorough video... gonna change my breaks now

It’s not that much effort pushing the piston back in. Use a brake compressor tool. The fluid was dirty before you even started so that doesn’t matter. Opening the master cylinder allows the fluid to go back up easily due to less pressure. It’s not a full flush so you just mixed new fluid with dirty fluid. I’d rather do that than risk air getting in the system.

How do you feel about using a brush to dab some brake lubricant on the top and bottom contact slide points on the pad assembly? Especially for northern climates.

Guys DONT clean your lovely powered coated callipers with brake cleaner, would you clean your car body with it ???? Use a spray bottle with warm water and a couple of drops of Fairy Liquid, dry fully then apply a high temperature wax, doing this will preserve the paint for years and years.

Snapped the bleeder screw on the inside is it possible to get out? What would be the best solution. Thanks again

With straight vaned rotors do you determine the left and right as if you were sitting in the drivers seat or if you were standing outside the vehicle and facing it from the front? My new straight vaned drilled and slotted rotors are labeled left and right but I need an answer to my previous question for proper installation placement. Thanks

Driver and Passenger (right and left) are always determined as seated in the driver seat. Vanes on rotors should rotate so that they catch air.

Every Brembo pad I've ever used has produced unacceptable amounts of brake dust. No thanks on that, my OCD kicks in.

I was going to use brake cleaner but on the back of the can it says not to get it on rubber, the brake pistons are surrounded by rubber.

It won't hurt brakes. Think door trim and stuff like that.

Do you need a different padding for the back or do I just order 2 sets of the same padding?

Hi, Thanks for your detailed video, watched it with great interest. I am in the process of replacing my front brake rotors and pads on my Skoda, most likely I will choose the DBA 4000 T3 Slotted rotors with Brembo pads (presumed to be semi-metallic but am not sure, don't believe they're ceramic), so just doing a bit of research before jumping in sort of speak. Have you had any experience at all or heard of any issues with this combination of DBA T3 slotted rotors and brembo pads? Also, I've decided not to go with OEM or stock items simply because of the enormous dust my current pads produces, do brembo pads do the same? If not brembo pads, I was thinking Remsa pads, any experience with these pads? ... btw, we're based down under.

Not sure on your particular application, but I can say most all Brembo pads I've ever seen are very dusty. I always use something else.

Great video! Quick Question: I have he exact same car down to the color, I've read on the Brembos you should bleed the inside valve first. What are your thoughts? Also, I'm changing rotors, do you have a video on that?

There may be some technical reason based on fluid path of the Brembo caliper to bleed the inside valve first, so if you saw some legit documentation on it, it certainly won't hurt. I don't have a vid on the rotor, but it's SUPER easy. Just come off with the lug nuts out of the way once you remove the caliper.

Anytime the brake system is opened it should be bled. I'd also not recommend trying to force the fluid back through the system to the M/C when removing pads. Just crack the bleed valve and compressing the pads will be much simpler.

Hey, I have a 2011 Genesis 2.0t and it knocks hard and ticks a little at higher rpms, runs smooth at idle, was hoping for some insight on it. Is there anything I can check or do before I jump straight to the conclusion it's the rods? Maybe pistons? Maybe timing chain?

80's kid 4ever I have an 06 Sti that used to do the same thing some brake pad tolerances are better than others. When I used hawk pads I always got knocking when changing directions I switched to Centric and the knocking went away. Another thing you could check would be the pins that hold the pads in place. The pins on my Q50s were slightly worn/undersized and caused the same thing.

Should you grease the two pins or is it not needed?

Okay, I'm ready to buy earmuffs and turn my car radio up to 11. I have been experiencing a rear brake squeal in the same year and model Genesis Coupe for a few months. Since I am not mechanically inclined I had my local mechanic handle the replacement of pads and rotors. After 20 miles the loud squeal has returned. Even louder! Yeow! I'm the embarrassment of the neighborhood or wherever I travel. My 'soon-to-be ex-echanic' said I needed slotted rotors and not the regular ones. Huh? Could he have not adjusted the chirper? Did he not replace the anti-squeal shims? Did he not lubricate the anti-squeal shims correctly? Any assistance you could offer would help. By the way, your concise, professional video DIY make me want to gas up my car, travel to your location and simply have you work on my car. Ha! Thanks!

They did not have the correct anti squeal shims installed and some cheap pads were used. After changing both I can finally drive in peace.Thank for your response and I look forward to more enlightening videos.

I thought the brake cleaner solution would be bad for the Caliper's Piston seals? Doesn't it make them brittle?

You should always turn the rotors. They could be slightly warped and you may not realize it. Plus it's only 20 bucks a piece at your nearest O Reilleys...

I respectfully disagree. I base it on current rotor condition, vibration issues prior to pad change, etc. In this case none of these issues were present, so I simply swapped the pads. This is my wife's car and 10,000 miles later and no problems what so ever.

@@mattjwargo37 turning rotor should be done only when necessary, because by turning them , you decrease they thickness and mass so the will heat up faster and more. Considering that 90% of the time your rotor are already worn down, by turning them you will shorten their life considerably. If I have to go through the pain of taking the rotor off going to the shop getting them "turned" and reinstalling them, I rather buy new rotors, which these days are not much more expensive than the whole procedure of turning, especially in the case of premium OEM grade "non slotted" or non "drilled rotors".

You're gonna want their free shims! Those things scream for many hundreds and hundreds of miles during "brake-in". I put the exact EBC Red Stuff on my 2010 SRT-8 Challenger. Great stopping power, but don't show your face around town while cruising, people will hold their ears! Those shims help a little, and with lots of patience, the noise goes away after about 3 months. Yuck!

Maybe we got lucky, or the design of the Brembos on the Genesis are different, but these squeeked slightly for about 100 miles and haven't made a sound since. Slightly more dust than I expected compared to the Hawk pads I've used in the past. Jury is still out on how long these last so we'll see in the end which we prefer.

+Speedy's Garage I liked them especially when they finally shut up. Customer Service at EBC is great, and they sent me free shims overnight which seemed to help. I used their slotted and drilled rotors too, quite possibly adding to the noise with the dust collection. After about 18 months with those brakes in great condition, I traded my 2010 SRT for the 2015 SRT392. I've got 14,000 miles on her now and am already noticing early wear on my factory Brembo's.
