So, it's been two years and a half, so I think it can be interesting to see where the WR is and how is the run and the route now. LilAggy's record: 21:50. Current WR by Mitchriz: 19:28. This is a list of things that changed during this period to save time: -Patch 1.06. -No subtitles: So basically, someone discovered that if you have no subtitles on, you can skip a lot of dialogue directly without having to spam X to skip it. Not a big save in Shura, but in other endings it was a huge discovery. -Double canyon skip: Instead of just doing the last jump, with the icecicles, now there's a previous jump befere, where you skip all the running in the right cave and the snake. This is considered one of the most difficult skips in the game. -Gyobu and route to bull: So, it turns out you don't have to wait in the roof for Gyobu to fall to his death, you can go directly to the bull fight, and he will fall anyways. Also now the route is going close to the left, cause there'rs two Ako sugars (more damage). The bull skip is patched if you go to the right, but if you jump to the left of the tree, you can still do it. -Lone shadow: You can use one of the Ako sugars to make it faster. Also, you can hit him off angle and he won't block you, making the fight not only faster, but safer (no parries needed) -Snake eyes: the same fight, but using the other Ako to make it faster. Also, there's no need to kill the first sniper, cause if you look at him during the fight with snake eyes, for some reason he doesn't fully see you (Yellow marker, no red). -Mibu village: everything the same, except you take a divine confeti in one of the houses at the end. (Here is where the route completely changed) -Genichiro fight: After killing the monk, you go to the Ashina castle to fight Genichiro. Turns out it was discovered a skip (front dojo skip) that is faster than swiming your way up to the fight. Also using the divine confeti makes the door cheese faster (divine confeti makes attacks deal more damage to vitality) and doing the fight now saves one fast travel. -Lotus of the palace: Same route, same skips with the airswim. -Monkeys: Now you can skip them! They fixed the going directly to the arena skip, but there's a point in the branch where you can go to the roof, and fall through the wall. When falling, you suddenly appear in the Inner Sanctum where you can talk to the girl and receive the mortal blade. -The end of the run is roughly the same, nothing really changed here. And that's more or less it. Those are the important changes that helped save almost two and a half minutes.

i know you probably wont see this, but the "jump off of thin air" trick is also a form of what is called "coyote time", named from the wile e coyote "dont fall until you look down" recurring joke. it allows you in some platformers to jump moments after jumping off of ledges as a cathartic "last minute jump" feeling. its quite common in a lot of games.
