Have you heard of a modern Olympus crossbreed speedlight/strobe high voltage pack, like one of these from the big guys like Godox? BTW - I love your channel - subscribed! - I got into what was then (2007?) "FT" (4/3") which had a mirror box +shutter from olympus, primarily to save weight, size, and price - but they nailed a beautiful speedlight you could use with 4 x AA (ALWAYS use NiMh like Eneloop cuz it takes 13 amps '!!!' to cycle and alkaline can't supply that.) If you wanted to cycle fast like 10 shots/second, do strobe power bracketing shots, and carry more power, they made the HV-1 high voltage shoulder luggable case about the size of a Bible w/ 3 foot coiled cord that plugged into the speedlight just above the knob you tighten it to the body with. It had a 7.2 VDC sealed hot-swappable NiMh pack and sent 320 Volts DC to the capacitor in the speedlight on the camera giving it strobe like performance. The E3 4/3" camera could then do flash power bracketing of 3 or 5 shots in rapid succession. Today I use the panasonic GH5 and BGH1 with the Olympus strobe-light, but its hard to find parts like extra battery packs, so I'm having them made from Lithium rechargeable cells. If you know of this cross breed strobe in modern production, I'm looking for a new one to replace my old FL50R and my twin-flash/ring flash for macro work that Olympus made as part of the system back then.

I am going to start learning flash photography. I want a not too heavily priced, lightweight, portable setup that I can take with me wherever I go to cultivate and continue this new hobby of mine. What do you suggest?

@@AdrianLardPhoto i have a Sony S2 camera (for now) if that would change your suggestion. And I want to take it with me when I travel. I am learning and this would be my first flash. and I am not disciplined so the motivation and desire to learn keeps coming and going. So I should be able to use it quite easily when I take it with me outdoors. I will have to keep trying different things and keep my best to stick to it. So keeping all these things in mind, should I go for this AD200 or AD100 pro or V1?
Great video and thank for the the work. One point: four years ago I purchased Eneloop rechargeable batteries for my flashes. I cover business events that generally run for 12 hours or more. I get about 300 images per charged set of batteries. I think I can get more, but I change them midday for insurance. I have not purchased replacements nor do I have a need to replace them so far. FYI.
Love the Dbz poster in the back. 💯 awesome video!

really appreciate the wisdom you shared in this video. It's helping me make some decisions about how to move forward with my lighting purchases. Trying to build up some gear to help with my photography journey. But also trying to buy when I realize I need it, and not before. I don't want to have all this gear sitting around and not be working with it... Anyway - I subscribed! keep up the good work.

Hey Jason! I feel you 100% on buying gear that you're going to actually use and not just have it sitting around. A lot of people waste money on gear they don't even need. One thing I've learned over the years is to keep things simple when it comes to gear. You don't need a lot...and take the time to really learn and understand the gear you have. Thanks for subscribing! I hope you get some value from my videos😁
Baronz studio uses only speedlights and the results are amazing.all you really need is skill.

Awesome video, as usual! Thank you so much for sharing all your stuff. I use rechargeable batteries for the speedlight, and I saved a ton! I do shoot in studio, but I've never used a strobe, maybe because I shoot mainly low-key images, so I never need a lot of power (1/4 of the power is the most I go). However, I am thinking to invest into strobes, so this video it's really helpful! XO

Does the Godox Ad200 have a decent recycle time? Yesterday I was embarassed with my speedlight recycle time for a portrait session
@AdrianLardPhoto

Yes, it's ok. It was probably recycling slow because you had the power too high.
Thank you for sharing this knowledge. Good job, sir. Liked and subbed now.
can you have strobe light as key, but a cheaper speedlight for fill? Does the wattage or other stuff have to be the same between 2 different light sources? Thanks!

I’ve got one of each, except a 400 because I have two AD200’s. If you combine them (AD-B2), do you really get 400, or do you find they overlap and you get only a little more than having one? (I ordered that Magbounce, too.) Peace.
@AdrianLardPhoto
3 жыл бұрын
You'd pretty much get the same power as the AD400pro (400ws). Two AD200's is a good flash kit..plenty of power👌 Let me know how you like the Magbounce!
@philiplee9892
10 ай бұрын
Scientifically speaking, no. You can use modifiers to give it more punch to the power, but two doesn't necessarily mean more power. Think of it as a punch of 3 elementary school kids vs 1 decently built high school kid. Double the amount of kids with weak muscle doesn't mean it will increase the intensity of power. It will just increase the radius of the output.
That was great , thank you ..
