Doug did his job. It's the director/cinematographer/cameraman who messed up the shot.
Would be a great video if you could see what he is doing with his hands.

Yes thats what i was thinking also
Doug may be a champion shooter but his teaching skills leave a lot to be desired. As a firearm instructor, you not only have to explain your topic but it helps tremendously if you show it visually. Other than a couple of seconds on this video you never see the gun in the holster and the gun coming out of the holster. You only see him from the mid-chest up! He doesn't even show you his "scoop" method! Talking about it won't help many people. Let people see it demonstrated!

That'd be on the videographer/director more than Doug. He's not the one filming/choosing the scene. Listen to the instructions and try it out
I love the fact that you aren't OVER DOING the forward press motion. People teach to bring the gun to your chest, and then make a long deliberate forward press. But, when they actually draw, it looks NOTHING like that. I understand that you need to work hard not to "bowl", or "fish" as you're acquiring your sights, but most people make the forward press look pretty ridiculous. lol Great video!!! I've just recently bought myself a shot timer, and have been working on this very thing. On my first day, I had my times go from 2.2 to 1.4. I wanna get down to the 1.0 sec mark. I like my holster a little forward on my hip, with a slight rearward(negative) cant. Hardly anyone teaches this, but it feels very comfortable, and natural to me. Any thoughts on that?
Agree with you Ken...both as a photographer, educator and someone in training. Help us out Doug! Redo this video and consider showing the gun and the holster work!
Please show your draw with a standard holster, not a speed holster. Any advice on using a standard holster is much appreciated since most shooter are using them.
lod videos son muy Buenos instructivos
I have large hands and the issue I have with 1911 is if I grip it so that I can easily disengage safety then my hand isn't squeezing grip safety all the way. So I always have to readjust which takes half a second or so.
Would like to see more, as Ken and Matt suggested
He took the safety off nicely, very instructive..

Love seeing a professional use an external safety - safely and effectively.
Well... not much sense when i can´t see the draw, the pistol, anything.... sometimes i think they just don´t want to show it

the range was dirty and their mom made them edit it to heck and back. you can see the mark on his face where she slapped him. that's why he gotta carry a gun
Model pistol used in this video?
If you say OKAY one more time.....LOL
I'd love to shoot/practice for the upcoming USPSA season if I could only find ammo!

Caleb Stillians - its a Safailand.
I know, right? We have been trying to get 2 diff caliber of ammo for weeks now and "SOL"
are you using real bullets or like the cowboys using blanks for fast draw.

Live ammo
Please redo vid so we can see what he is doing. Duh!!!!!
“Addressing the target” 🙄
His gun is prolly like $50,000
Thanks, the kid didn’t stand a chance
why don't you teach how to draw faster on a duty holster not that holster practical on the firing range.
His instruction is great but they need to show his hand ! WTF
A good amount of experience in comprehensive listening should make it to where you dont need to see the gun....

I see I'm not the only one who thought the video shoot was horrible, get someone else to do it next time, the end result was not really useful as you're describing things we can't see, didn't even finish watching.
I had to thumbs down because the director, camera dude, did a horrible job
Terrible video I’m shocked they didn’t realize during editing how pointless it was to upload it like this when the whole point of the video is about draw.
