    Why are there four German Skaters and only three on the other teams?

  • @ceegeelmusicals2295

    @ceegeelmusicals2295

    4 жыл бұрын

    Adam Menzies A lot of the teams have 4 skaters who alternate based on the other races they just had individually or have upcoming, as well as their personal strengths. Or sometimes there is just a spare in case of injury. But I believe you can’t win an Olympic medal unless you skated in the quarterfinals, semis, or finals even if you trained with team and were on the bench for those races.

    1) Why are they starting in different positions? 2) Are they not wearing any socks? Do socks really stop that much "wind"? lol 3) Do they get a lot of problems with their backs from being in that position so often?

  • @AConnorDN38416

    @AConnorDN38416

    3 жыл бұрын

    professional speed skaters don't wear socks because they wear skates that have been custom molded to perfectly fit their bare feet. Socks dampen the precision of control you get between your foot and the ice. Yes, skating in this position is killer on your back so it's important to do lots of training to build your core muscles to support your back and do lots of stretching.
