My question is, for a late model ford ecoboost what would be the proper steps for logging for speed density? Is there parameters that need to be turned off first since it doesn't have a MAF?

Hello sir. I'm Planning go from a 6.0 to a 5.3 in my 09 pontiac g8 gt? I tried searching around for a 6.0 in good condition ,but they are way too expensive right now. I know its a tacky swap but its all I can afford and plus its my daily driver. I want to see if this Hp tuner item already has preloaded files for certain cars already so that I could copy the 5.3 pcm perimeters to the g8's pcm or do i have to copy a file from a 5.3 vehicle like the 08 impala SS. I've seen this swap done on youtube but he never got into full build details.

  • @SamSheepDoq

Grab your OS number from the tune information, then find a 5.3L tune file on the tune repository with the same OS as yours. You can then segment swap the engine parameters to your current G8 tune file, upload the tune to your car, then make any adjustments from there by data logging the new tune.

I wouldn't want trim corrections while setting my base VE although maybe there is some wisdom to it on these ecus. on a true VE based standalone I turn closed loop off when calibrating base fueling.

that traditional VE model is really weird if the pressure areas are going to be close. I would expect it to be around 100% VE or maybe a few percent over, not 150% at some points. nice info on how to force VE mode on these ecus though.

I’ve been looking into hp tuners because a friend asked me to possibly tune their suburban but man it just seems so much more complicated than it needs to be honestly. Is there a real-time update? Do we have to flash every single time we make a change? Are there shortcut keys? Quick adjustment keys? I must be spoiled with my native software cause this just seems overly complicated.

Actually Virtual VE takes more computing power and a VE table is faster but Virtual VE is better for the engine manufacture because it adapts easier to different variations from vehicle to vehicle. Let's say the exhaust characteristics change, or valve diameter changes, a single or very selective group of coefficients need to changed rather than a range or area of settings in a traditional VE table that need to be proved out empirically. .

@@bmichael1991 but.... the high/lo match is only during ve tuning? then the low table is put back to stock? with no VE adjustments? doesnt make sense to me. My understanding is when you apply the custom OS for NoMaf aka speed density, it converts to use LOW ONLY, meaning there is no more HIGH table... So if you do speed density yourself without applying custom OS in HPT or in tuner pro, you have to copy the high to the low so you get the higher numbers into the low table since thats the only one it will be looking at...
