FUN FACTS.
1.EVEN THOUGH SPECTER AND JESTER ARE PROBABLY VERY CLOSE FRIENDS, VANDAL IS POSSIBLY EVEN CLOSER TO SPECTER GIVEN THAT THEY WENT THROUGH BUDS TOGETHER AND ARE BOTH SNIPERS.
2.HIS NAME WAS SPELLED "SPECTRE" IN SOCOM 1 BUT WAS CHANGED TO SPECTER IN THE LATER AMERICAN VERSION OF THE GAMES (POSSIBLY AMONG OTHER VERSIONS TOO) FOR WHATEVER REASON.
3.HE WAS PROBABLY MADE THE COMMANDER AFTER THE FIRST GAME BECAUSE THE VOICE ACTOR OF KAHUNA PROBABLY WASN'T COMING BACK TO VOICE HIS CHARACTER AGAIN.
4.YOU CAN HEAR SPECTER SLOWLY MATURE THROUGH THE GAMES FROM A ITALIAN GANGSTER SOUNDING SNIPER (PROBABLY DUE TO HIS ITALIAN HERITAGE AND THE
FACT THAT HE WAS RAISED IN CHICAGO), TO A MORE CONFIDENT, LESS WISE-CRACKY VETERAN.
5.HIS VOICE ACTOR FROM SOCOM 2 ONWARD IS VOICED BY PAUL MERCIER THE SAME VOICE ACTOR AS LEON KENNEDY FROM RESIDENT EVIL 4.
6.HIS FACE IN SOCOM 2 WAS ACTUALLY KAHUNAS FACE, WHILE VANDAL GOT HIS CHARACTER MODEL FOR SOME REASON.
7.HE IS THE ONLY CHARACTER BESIDES JESTER (AND HQ IF YOU COUNT HER), TO BE IN EVERY PLAYSTATION 2 SOCOM GAME.

I love that I am not the only one who loves the Socom lore. If they do a SOCOM5 specter better be the protagonist again and I hope they have a much deeper narrative

I agree. the actor that voices Specter his name is Paul Mercier (He's the same guy that voiced Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 4). He would absolutely have to return the voice Specter. and also Jason spisak would have to return to voice jester. It would be cool though if they had the game about Kahuna coming back and taking over the team. But I doubt that would ever happen since the guy who voiced Kahuna was a real Navy SEAL and only did it for the first game. The deeper narrative is something that I've always wanted in the socom games but I think they've always been too concerned with the multiplayer to give the single player enough love

@@Violate1k He did but he's voiced by Chris Cox. None of the cast from SOCOM 1 returned in sequential titles. Even Keith Silverstein, a well known voice talent wasn't brought back to voice Specter but to be completely honest, I felt Paul Mercier played the role better

unfortunately. I think they killed him because people where angry about him in the first game, because he always got in your way and gets himself killed. He was one of my favorites though.

@@railshock448 lol i know right everytime boomer is close to a enemey he never reacts and gets killed somtimes,i still have the game ive been playing it since i was a small 2 year old and i couldnt understand it,now i do.good memories.

@Fonky Munk Well unfortunately that's not the luck everyone else seems to have had with the teammates. I have had boomer just run out in the open, (and get sniped),lose 1v1 battles where he clearly saw the terrorist first, he has thrown grenades like only 4 feet in front of himself (getting him and/or my whole team killed) and is generally just unreliable. i love him as a character (his voice is great and a cool name), but everyone i seem to have talked to, seems to have had trouble with him. But i agree that the A.I. in the later games get worse with their reaction times, aim, and the worst is their path finding (having to babysit one of your teammates who get stuck on everything). The thing that socom one teammates have is that they can spot and execute enemies fast (especially if they are sniping like you can have them do easily in "ghost town"). by the time combined assault had come out it hadn't even been four years since the first game (not even a half decade yet). Trust me people definitely remembered boomer and his antics.

@Fonky Munk but that isn't necessarily why they killed him, (that's just one on the theory's that i have heard) it could also have been because they wanted to have an old friend die for sad effect, but they wanted to kill a character that wasn't coming back anyway. Boomers voice actor most likely didn't want to come back or wasn't a professional enough guy for newer and more expensive games that Sony was wanting to make (at least at the time).

This was my childhood game that inspired me to join the army, still am, and I am glad you are now talking about it.
I bough combined assualt like 2 weeks ago and when I found put boomer died I was so sad.

Hey do you know how to fix this problem from Socom 3 and CA? Everytime I want to save on memory card it says that "An error ocurred while saving to memory card(8MB) (for PlayStation2) in memory card slot 1/2". It happens with Socom CA as well, while it doesn't on Socom 1 and 2. My PS2 it has the matrix logo, but my memory card its 100% original, I had this problem before my PS2 was chipped. Any help?

I always wondered if Spectre & Specter were the same person guess they changed the spelling in Socom 2

Thanks. I've been thinking of doing that. It's been done for the multiplayer voices. No one has bothered, but one of my friends will probably know how. It will probably take a while as the voices are all scattered around the game files I think.
