Excellent maintenance on this Bike!! Great Work!!!
Nice rebuild, I just missed a cable and hoses replacement.
Hmm, in our DIY bike repair shop I always tell our visitors that it's crucial to wipe down the chain after greasing it so that it doesn't build up grime and dirt on the drive train to not wear down the drivetrain prematurely. I do this as well for my own bikes.

I’m wondering the reason for the heavy oil on the chain is to keep the road salt and sand from having access into small parts of the chain. When I was in the desert we would over grease bearing to keep the sand from reaching the inside of all the inner components.
First time watching one of your videos. Wow! Complete, clear, concise - just what I needed. I've been learning most of this the last few years but it's so nice to see someone do it so well. Subbed. Thanks , keep up the good work!

I am already a subscriber but i would like to say, like i did in another video before, you should film in a higher resolution and upload in 1440p, it would make a big difference from the quality standpoint. Clearer image is much more enjoyable. But these are just my 2 Cents :)
That's a good tip about greasing the brake pad retaining bolts. I bought my bike used, and that bolt got stuck in the rear brake and ended up rounding out when I tried to remove it and I had to use an extractor to get it out.

Excellent video and explanation. I just bought a 2023 Specialized Diverge Elite E5. It would great to hear the torque specs as you go along. I hope all mechanics are as through as you. Thanks for all of your videos they are great. Quick question, why don’t you remove the pedals from the cranks and apply fresh anti seize to the pedal threads to prevent potential issues in the future? Thanks again!
@Bikespeeds
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support. It’s simply somewhere we draw the line with the cost of some services. For some bikes we take the pedals off but that all depends on the customers wants and needs for their bike.🧡⚙️
Funny how you removed a generic chain and installed another non- shimano chain. Use shimano! Also I noticed you kept the shimano 105 level derailleur cables with the blueish tint. If the chain is worn out it’s about time to replace the cables as preventative maintenance with little cost. Your labor out ways the exclusion of replacement of those oversized diameter derailleure cables.
Is there a difference in the two jockey wheels on rear derailleur? You always show taking off , cleaning and refitting but wondered if you have to keep track which was which. Thanks

Thank you for all the hard work that goes into these videos. Any update on the preferred syringe set size that you've been seeking? I want to implement these at my shop. Cheers
@Bikespeeds

You would be surprised just how long it’s taken us to get the “perfect” syringe. However we are now happy with what we’re currently using. The next step is to figure out postage and packaging and then we will start listing them on our website available for purchase we recon maybe 4-5 weeks from now. Thanks for the interest we look forward to launching them🧡⚙️
I watched, not because I wanted to see the maintenance, but because I wanted to see the Diverge.
When there's new technology or something you've never worked on before, how do you learn what best practices are? One reason all my bikes are basically the same is because, FD excepting, I can just about muddle my way through a fair amount of basic maintenance before I pay a mechanic to do the stuff I can't or requires specific tools. Cheers for another interesting video
@Bikespeeds
Жыл бұрын
There isn’t really much new technology in cycling, the concepts are all the same across components even if they’re slightly different so we’ve never found it a problem. Thanks very much for watching and enjoy working on your bikes!🧡⚙️

Yet another great video, I stumbled across a video from the US, similar to yours, but not as good. They had an interesting idea, they put Di2 components in a ziplock bag with a small amount of cleaner, and then added it to the sonic cleaner, for 5 minutes, looked pretty impressive when it came out. Would you ever put disc rotors in the sonic cleaner? Keep up the good work, loving the videos.
@Bikespeeds
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Steve! We personally wouldn’t put discs in the ultrasonic cleaner as it doesn’t solve the scoring of the discs so we feel the best way to clean them is with the sand paper🧡
Good maintenance work from the owner there. I'm sure she/he will be extremely happy to hear about the stem bolt! So easy to miss something like that until its too late. Tell me though, you did all that work through the drivetrain, but don't check the condition of, or correct tension on, the headset?
@Bikespeeds
Жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter. The headset bolt was a great find for us, we always love to see something that makes the service absolutely worth it’s while. We did check the headset as we do actually all things but we tend not to show anything on the channel that doesn’t need work done as there would just be a long portion of the video where not much happens. Hope that clears it up, thanks again!🧡⚙️

Great video thanks on a brilliant bike! I have the exact same bike and I've done a shed load of miles on it since last summer. It's been a lovely bike. Do you know where to buy a replacement freehub for this bike (Diverge E5 Elite)? Thanks for your help. Best regards, Stuart (aka Stuggy!) :) ... I'm in the UK, Durham

New to your channel and watched several videos whilst I've been working late at night . Very informative - thank you. Would you please walk me through what grease you use and for what purpose. We’re desperately trying to build up a website that we feel we’re about a month away from now. On there we will have all of our greases listed for purchase which could help with your own mechanics. Holds chain tight so you don’t get chain slap or the chain coming off
I always wash my bike and make sure to grease my chain after every ride. I don't bike in the winter here in the midwest in the US, it's just too cold and the salt on the roads corrodes everything. When something feels off or needs adjusting I pop my bike on my stand and give it a quick adjustment. Last season I started to get a clicking noise that sounds with every pedal stroke, I tightened up everything that I thought it could be but it's still there. Do you have any recommendations?

Nice job. I do routine maintenance on my bike but what is the going rate for a service like this? Like ballpark, £100? £200?
I have a vintage 84 Miyata Ninety, do you know what level of bike it may be, compared to my 86 Miyata 710? I really haven't been able to find much info about it.
Re: Greasing the brake caliper bolt. For me, it's a little too close to comfort having grease that close to my pads. I would be afraid that if it gets wet, like in the rain, oily/grease could run down to the caliper. Or when I clean my bike, I often spray de-greaser or other cleaners onto my bike, and there may be potential for that grease to run down.
You have many different greases you use. Which greases do you use for each part of the bike? Thanks. Love the videos

How will a new chain work with that worn cassette and rings?
