@@RRCMikeEdwards hello, @RRCMikeEdwards just a question since Rangers are Jsoc funded. i was wondering if they get jsoc somewhat of a standard level training that seals or Sf doesn't receive bc of the jsoc funding? Also just been doing some research on SFARTAETC and is it a SOF wide course? that Rangers can attend? or is that specifically for green berets? i was wondering if SFARTAETC the tier 2 Army's premier CQB school??? just asking bc ik itz nothing like SMU training but it would be awesome to have the idea of being extremely capable. Hopely im not crossing any lines just asking bc the SMU route doesnt interest me bc i personally see them all respectfully as highly trained and capable units. i have a huge interest in regiment i just wanna keep it simple in a SOF career.

Great video Mike. I appreciate your insight. A couple things I would like to say though: 1) There are way less SEALs than that. As of November 2023, there were 2900 SEALs (including ST6) and just over 3500 rangers, so there are actually less active SEALs compared to 75th Rangers. The “10,000” number gets thrown around a lot when discussing the number of SEALs, but that is the number of individuals assigned to NSW, not total SEALs which includes over 4,000 civilian employees, 2900 SEALs, SWCC, and Navy Reserve personnel. The difference is the rangers have all their support internal whereas the SEALs outreach their support to civilians and other navy personnel which makes the total NSW number seem much larger (also includes SWCC too). One Source: Task & Purpose / SOF by the Numbers + many other reliable sources. (KZread won’t let me provide the links, it keeps deleting my comment when I do.) 2) Im sure you know this, but SEALs go to 6-9 months of SQT after BUD/S as well where they learn more advanced tactics including CQB, small unit tactics, maritime ops, airborne, freefall, SERE, tactical driving, etc. And then 18 months of work up when assigned to a team prior to deploying. So they get a lot more training on top of the very basic training at BUD/S. Source: SEAL/SWCC online / Assessment Pipelines (again I can’t provide the link, but it’s easily verifiable). This comment was not meant to be argumentative or negative in any way. Just a couple things that I think are common misconceptions about the Navy even among Tier 1 guys from other units. I appreciate everything you do and have done.

@cornbread_2401 just gonna say this but without a argument but are you a operator? This guy is a tier one SMU operator who's receive more additional extensive training than your average SOF operator. He knows what he is talking about bc he has stated he has worked with multiple SOF units and navy seals current and former have admit that Green berets know a lot and that tactics have changed over the decade and everything you have read on Wikipedia is probably very much inaccurate or out of date information. Please keep in my the information on the internet the government approves and that is bc that kinda of information has been declassified and more than likely has changed over the decade the seal pipeline is probably than a green beret/CCT AFSOF Etc... Again tier one guy who's done it and trained and gone through those selections and most importantly keep in mind has worked alongside these units. Please understand that thank you sir

@@DavidAndrew-dn2zz Lol, yes I understand that, and I don’t get my information from Wikipedia. I just provided sources for the comment. I’m not talking about my background on here, but let’s just say both things I said are verifiable facts, any SEAL or ST6 operator will tell you the same thing. I’m not saying anything that is “classified”. Not being argumentative here, but what I said is not even an opinion and anything to argue honestly. If someone likes one unit better than the other, I couldn’t care less honestly. To each their own. But if your opinion is based on the belief that there are 10,000+ SEALs and don’t count the 6-9 months of SQT in their pipeline they have to go to, your opinion is based on false beliefs. And Yes, I know what unit Mike is from and that he has trained & deployed with SEALs. I greatly respect him and everything he does/has done. That doesn’t mean he knows everything about other units make-up and pipeline schools just like a SEAL wouldn’t know everything about his units organization and structure. People can still be wrong, no matter what unit they are from. Respect. 🙏 Still love the video and content Mike puts out.

@@Cornbread_2401 seals teams and ST6 are not even compareble in terms of skills and mission statement. Seals teams will tell u that especially Shawn Ryan. they are just not the same. seals teams do NoT have more land ware training than rangerd or SF dudes. Just known fact bc after all they operate on land. Regular seals teams do more Maritime type missions and swim a lot and sure they get some small unit tactics training but not to mention that all ARMY SOF receives the same training too. Navy seals are great don't get me wrong. But they're NOT as good as Hollywood likes to betrayed them. Also to state that a delta force operator and SMU Army ranger were both not impressed with a Navy seal skill set and this is coming from this video as a source of evidence and if the best operators are not good enough evidence then youll hear it from green beret chronicles and another green beret that he stated that he wasn't impressed not by the brave men but by the consistency/proficiency in combat training

This is a great presentation, I'm British so getting my head around the US having so many different SF units (sof for yanks) was a bit of a task. Special Forces almost being a trademark for the green berets and SOF being the catch all is interesting and makes much more sense now. Glad to see the marines and rangers getting some credit, rangers have always been great guys, again confusing becuase a lot of blokes who arent rangers walk around with ranger on their arm. Very interesting about the funding for the white seals. I'd have assumed the USN spending billions on aircraft carriers and submarines wouldnt raise an eyebrow at throwing money at the seal teams.

SEALs are the shiny kids of the Navy. They get good funding but not as extreme as GBs and Rangers as Mr Edward said. Green Berets treasure being exclusively referred to as Special forces and don't like other Special Operations forces claiming their title, hence why SOF became more popular to cover other units doing identical work but with different history from GBs in 1952

Do you think it would make sense to have the former CIF Companies integrated into the Ranger Regiment vice the Green Berets since the Rangers train in DA all the time? I understand the Rangers are responsible for DA and SR on the SOCOM side, but what are they responsible to the Big Army for? Besides charter time, what else could the Rangers do to help Big Army, especially the XVIIITH Airborne Corps? Could we make 3 more Ranger Battalions? Say, bring back 4th, 5th, and 6th Ranger Battalions? Downsize the Airborne units by 2/3rds? (82nd Abn Div becomes 82nd Abn Brigade, the extra funding freed up from eliminating x2 82nd brigades would be used to bring back the 4th, 5th, and 6th Ranger battalions to the 75th Ranger Regiment. Could Ranger School be part of the initial pipeline to become a Ranger? Why isn't Air Assault part of the Ranger pipeline if Rangers are always doing air assaults? Should the EIB, EFMB, and ESB be mandatory for Rangers serving in Infantry, Medic, and Combat Arms roles in the Regiment? Why dont the Rangers have their own official CQB course like the Green Berets do with SFARTAETC? Should SFARTAETC be a Ranger Regiment responsibility? What if Ranger School and the EIB Board were managed by the 75th versus non-Ranger entities? What if you had a Ranger Battalion co-located with every major XVIIITH Abn Corps unit? Many such questions.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to be one of the guys who always get the call and kick in doors and literally hunt bad guys, If you want to stay in and become a Tier-1 operator at some point I think Ranger Regiment will set you up for success more. If you want to go to a SOF unit and experience a lot of different stuff and locations then the SF pipeline would be great. SF is way more chill than Ranger BN and SF guys get to do lots of different things whereas Rangers focus heavily on raids and forceable entry. In Ranger BN you will have to fight for your job everyday. In SF it's not like that at all, ive seen guys get DUI's and stay in SF. In Ranger BN if you make mistakes like that you are gone!

Most level-headed talk on what SEALs should aspire to be. Damneck ar least are slightly above the vanilla-SEALs or as Mr Edwards put it "white-side" SEALs. Looking at Rangers with a whole nother' level of respect now. ALways thought Rangers were in the 15-20,000s & Green Berets were in the 4-5,000s hence why they're paid more and slightly more revered on the army side & are the Special Operations unit that have never had theie Beret changed and are even nicknamed after said Beret too.
