Special Moments with Down Syndrome Children | Disha Foundation | Down disease | Part - 2
Down Syndrome (DS) is a genetic disorder that leads to mental retardation and abnormal physical growth if the child survives that long.The disease often comes with congenital heart diseases, which are treatable with surgery. But a large number Indian paediatrician still ask parents of DS babies not to go for the surgery if the child's body weight is less than 10 kg.
The advice is counter-productive as it may lead to the child's death many times, suggests a new study, published recently in the Indian Journal of Paediatrics.“Many doctors in India still believe that infants with congenital heart disease have a poor chance of survival even if operated and surgery is feasible only after the child attains a weight of 10 kg. This could be detrimental, especially in DS children,” says Risha Nahar, lead author of the study.
On this we had a discussion with parents as well as consulted with doctors that how parents are supporting their children and facing their problem and doctors brief us more about it. Along with this we reached at 'Disha Foundation' where we spent some time with the victim of these children and tried to know about their world.

Down syndrome koi bimaari nahi balki ek taakat hai 💪💪 downs syndrome children are special and caring. They will give you unconditional love throughout life. So just keep loving them and you will be happy. IT IS NOT A DISEASE but a superpower!

Both my babies had downs . It's almost thirteen years since they left us. Miss them every day. They are my first thoughts when I wake and my last thoughts before I go to sleep. needless to say don't sleep much . Hope all this is a nightmare and tomorrow everything will be as it was. Every night I pray this will be.
