The civil war continues... 5) In 1971, UN Resolution No. 2758 ruled that the PRC had obtained the representation rights and all legal rights originally owned by the ROC in the UN. That means the PRC is China’s only legal gov under international law, and today the PRC also become China’s only legal gov recognized by 180 countries around the world, including the USA. "The USA recognizes the Government of the PRC as the sole legal Government of China.

Let's look at track records and why instead of this bs. People are so misinformed.

It would be suicidal for US to fight a military war with China today. 1. US strategic oil reserve is at about 371 million barrels, down from a high of about 600 and OPEC is cutting production. 2. China has just imposed a rare earth export ban to US, a key ingredient to military equipments. It would take years for US to ramp up its domestic production to meet its needs. 3. The war in Ukraine has depleted its ammunition stockpile to an already alarming level. Its manufacturing capacity would be unable to keep up with another war. 4. Already some of US European allies are questioning the on-going support of the Ukraine war. It is highly unlikely that they would line up behind another war that is thousands of miles away.

We have MASSIVE reserves of oil shale and now have the tech to capitolize on it, and so far as the rate earth elements, we have far more that you are willing to believe, and the infrastructure to extract and refine has been in the works for quite a while now. Also... though you may not understand how global reserve currency works, debt is the fundamental core upon which it hinges and works, so long as the currency issuers (the US in this case) has the economy of scale coupled with the military might to enforce its edicts (which we do). The ONLY reason China was lifted out of is previous poverty and relative econmic isolation was because the US paved the way and maintained the integrity thereof of global free trade, enforced by our unprecedented naval might. Without US intervention, China would still be a bucolic and backward state, struggling to keep its population fed, with weak borders and strong predators on every doorstep, as it was when we found it.

@@johnadams3800 It is undeniable that US was instrumental in bootstrapping China’s economy. As well, your point about MASSIVE oil reserve and having the technology to extract it is also accurate. But you cannot pump oil reserve into your car. You need refining facilities to convert crude to gasoline. Refining facilities take years to build. In peacetime, US is energy self sufficient. But with the strategic petroleum reserve depleted to a historic low, many experts are predicting that it would be difficult to sustain a major war.

@gj8550 this is why we've trade partner countries that do the various refining. There's been much talk of domestic refining, though it always comes down to the roi factor. And if I'm not mistaken, as a not insignificant bonus, what we get out of oil shale is a fair bit easier to refine than other oil. That gives a lot of leeway and options on the global market, and presumably domestic refineries that are cheaper and quicker to establish. I'm no prophet, but the fundamentals of our future look pretty bright. As in anything else in life, shit can happen though, at any moment.

There are at present practically no spare refining capacity anywhere in the world. The next major world would likely be WWIII with US and G7 on the one side against Russia, China, Iran, N Korea and a few other middle Eastern countries. Guess where the oil refineries are. At the moment, US is busy sucking up to Israel, thus alienating the Middle East while Russia and China are building bridges with the Arab nations. Foreign holding of US treasury bonds is on a rapid decline. USD is losing its premier position as global reserve currency at an unprecedented rate. National debt is spiralling out of control. Economists are predicting that interest payments on the national debt would surpass other government spendings before this decade ends. Where’s the bright light in the future?

Use a computer at work? 80% of all of the chips for electronics come from Taiwan, and something like 95% of all the most advanced chips used in industrial, commercial, health, and military processes. The world isn't ready. China is near peer at this point. I'm former USAF Weapons, and it'll be a Navy and Air Force show as neither countries army would ever be able to invade the opposing country because of distance and China's massive population and the US armed citizenry. Unless the Chinese population overwhelmingly wanted liberation, then we might be able to take them over. But it won't end well for either of us. It'll be horrible and at this point it seems to be inevitable.

As a fellow Canadian, I agree with you. A Chinese surveillance Buoy was found in our arctic, we have 0 air defense systems, our military is suffering and our leader is just embarassing... If we get attacked, leave it to our our gun owners to fight lawful gun or not.
