I'm not sure if Dennis was actually planning to retire after 2017. I feel like they would've gave him a TV tour. I think the crash was a realization that enough is enough

I grew up watching Tom Meents on SPEED TV, I remember the original Max-D body. Hearing this does bring sadness that basically the last part of my childhood is leaving Minster Jam competition, but it makes me happy that he’s still gonna be a part of Monster Jam in a major way. Also, sharing this announcement with the Monster Jam’s OG commentator Scott Douglass and the commentator I grew up listening to makes it even more special. Tom, thanks for making my childhood amazing, it was an honor to watch you ON A MISSION

This is definitely the end of an era. Tom Meents has been a favorite of mine every since I started watching Monster Jam in 2009. One of my earliest memories of him was flipping onto the dumpster and driving it off from Anaheim that year. Since then, I've seen him grab multiple more world championships and create many new memories that will stick with me forever. From Arlington 2011 to the first show at Baltimore with the Meents Twist, nobody will ever do it quite like Tom. Thank you Tom for all the memories 🤘🤘

To Tom Meents, I thank him for all the memories he did over the past 30 years he did in monster trucks. Monster Patrol, Bulldozer, Goldberg, Team Meents, & Maximum Destruction. His career will always be one of the greatest in the sport’s history. Let’s not forget about his mud bog vehicle, Shake Me. I hope that there will be lots of 1980s & 1990s monster truck content featuring Tom Meents in Shake Me, Monster Patrol, & Bulldozer being added to the KZread Channel Membership. Tom, Thanks For Everything Over The Years.

I remember watching Tom in his mud bogger, Shake Me, on Trucks & Tractor Power on TNN as a kid. I had no idea that he'd grow up and be one of the biggest stars of Monster Jam and one of my favorite drivers of all time!

My respect has gone up so much for him over the last couple years, I grew up as a major grave digger fan boy and still am and would be livid if max-d beat any of them 😅but seriously I’ve always loved watching Tom and getting to see him at shows over the last few years and watching him make history!

Man i don't what to say to this. Tom is by far my Favorite Monster Jam Driver. Seeing you're Favorite Monster Jam Driver leave Monster Jam ( As a Driver) it leaves a hole in the spot. Wow. This brings tears to my eyes. Tom meents I watched him for almost 15 years now. I've met him 3 times and he was the driver who stood out thank you for all of the stunts crazy driving and smiles you brought to all of our lives MAX D FOREVER

My favorite moment from Tom Meents was watching him on Speed TV and launching his truck off a car stack at the Atlanta 2005 show and the wheel came off mid air

I can't believe it, After all those 30 years of Monster trucks (Bulldozer, Monster Patrol, Goldberg, Team Meents and Maximum Destruction) and all those 20 years of Maximum Destruction to win only *14* World Finals titles, it's time for one more year of competing before Tom teach the rookies at the Monster Jam University. I'll never forget the day Tom got my Autograph as Las Vegas in 2014 and the time he won Racing in Minneapolis of Show 2 for his father... I hope Colton gets the wheel in '25 to keep the Maximum Destruction legacy alive. 🥹🫡🥹

Does anyone know when his last show in Minneapolis is? Always loved watching Tom growing up, he was always my favorite. It’s gonna be sad to see him retire but there’s a point when everyone’s gotta retire. Thanks for all the memories Tom!

One of the best to ever do it. And always will be. So much respect for him and the fanbase he’s built up. He’s done so many amazing performances since I was just a kid and it’s been such an honor to see them all, even on TV. Can’t wait for his final season in 2024.

Now the real question is, how is this sport gonna do without him.. The main reason I go see these shows is to watch Tom perform. He's been an extremely big idol for me and I'm looking forward to 2024 then I already have been.

I still can't believe this is real. I've grown up watching Tom all my life tear up the track. Many guys like Tom Meents, Jim Koehler, and Adam Anderson have been driving all my life. Also I think maybe this could be a reason why there was no encore for Max-D 20th anniversary, because maybe next year we will get Toms final encore performance in Max-D in the world finals, a really good one, I can’t wait

I’ve always been a max-d fan, and Tom Meents always was my favorite monster jam driver of all time, and he is my idol, the only person that I look up to for inspiration that is not family, I’m sad that he will retire after next year but that just means he’s gonna go all out more than ever for his last season and I cannot wait to see what Tom will do for one last year, maybe this is why there was no max d encore this year, because maybe next year we will get THE Max-D encore since it will be his last year, and I can’t wait to see, hopefully I get to meet him before he leaves but I still can’t wait to see what he will do, cheers for one last maximum year for Tom Meents!!!

Tom is awesome and while I'm sad to hear he's retiring, at least we get to see him driving for another season! He's also one of the nicest drivers I've ever met too. Thanks for everything Tom!

same for me, but I started watching in 2012 at 3yr and as a child watching I always was amazed by Tom and seeing him last year in London was something I'm so happy I did. I hope he brings back the old maximum destruction body and even team meents If possible.

I grew up Watching Tom Meents on the Monster Jam shows live on KZread Max D has been my favorite Feld owned truck that ran in Monster Jam over the years!!! Scott Douglas is back in this special video miss him but he used to be the announcer of Monster Jam Now Scott Jordan replaced him in the beginning of 2019 as the new commentator for the season!

i found monster jam at the age of 4, laying on the couch and browsing through some of the shows my parents saved. i instantly found max-d to be my favorite truck after watching a tom meents freestyle, and it's been that way ever since. i am a university student now, and though it is sad to see one of the last remaining parts of my childhood make a departure, i will always smile because of the memories Tom made for me. jumping up and down when he won racing in WF13 (my first world finals) to watching him win skills and freestyle 10 years later (floridians, i have no idea how you deal with that heat), i know ill never forget this amazing and passionate competitor. hope to see him in houston next year! edit: i can't forget him lifting me 7 feet into the air at a 2013 pit party either

St. Louis in 2005 is the first time I saw Tom driving in person, and he definitely got the crowd up & loud! He got big air off the pro quad jumps, broke a rear wheel, and still drove over the bus stack! Ah, the memories!
