Your Betta is amazing! I love the coloring on him and what a nice Fluval Spec too. The 5 is definitely the way to go for a Betta or Pea Puffer.

Fish For Thought Chris I missed the stream did you see the new house

I really like the overall look of Fluval Specs in all configurations. However, they seem expensive for the size compared to a more conventional tank. I also prefer tanks with lids that completely cover the top of the tank. When the Winter heating season starts, it's hard to keep up with the evaporation, even with a full lid. I'm new to your channel, and I really like the way you break down the aquascaping concepts and processes. I'll be setting up some new tanks soon, and I'm going to try to do some more planned out scapes.

What heater do you recommend for the Fluval Spec V tank I plan on getting a betta also what substrate are you using this tank looks amazing love all the plants.

I’m the same about black water tanks. I tried it, thinking I’d get used to it, but it alway bugged me. Love crystal clear water.

I ran Brown water or black water for a long time takes a lot of patience to be able to keep the grandeurs where you want them. It's not for everybody. If you want something to clear up that other tank that you were talking about in this video a little acurel F works miracles on the clouding and the color

Man I miss this stuff. I'm balls deep into reef tanks now. I just went and pulled a basketball sized wad of plants out of my spec tonight

Weirdly my fav nano tank is my small spec. And I don’t have any algae issue. Who knows could be water we get in different states could be something I am doing I don’t realize. But algae is a very rare problem for me even in my planted and stocked tanks I dose pretty heavy with easy green. And cherry shrimp have bred in my small spec. And even have 2 male endlers in there. Who knows like I said things very quite a bit from area to area. I am in Ca maybe something in my area makes it easier. But I love the look of that 5 gal spec with the beta. Just a nice look in my opinion like the fullness of the one end opening up on the other end. Looks great.

I love the SPEC 5. I've had one for several years and it's a great Betta tank. However, I have found a tank I like a little better for my bedside. It's the Marineland Portrait 5 gallon. It has a smaller footprint which is perfect for a nightstand. My Betta loves it.

@@pecktec Try it and I think you will be pleased. I'm a Betta enthusiast and I home 8 of my Bettas in the Marineland Portraits all in a nice little row, plus the one on my night stand. My wife homes her one lone Betta in the Spec 5. * Of course, I still love all things FLUVAL. I really started using the Portraits because of the small footprint.

i sometimes put some rooibos tea (ofc cooled off) in the tank to make it a bit browner / beige, within in a week or so its filtered out.

I got a bad in a my aquarium box a while back. I haven’t pooped it open yet.

That betta's name better be "Rocket Pop" or "Firecracker" or "Bomb Pop", because he looks just like the red, white, and blue frozen treat. 😆

This is the tank I want for my betta. Did you need to use a pre filter sponge or do anything to slow the flow down? I've read some stuff online that the filter can be too hard for them.

Hello! Love your video! I just got this tank but how do you keep the the plants from going into the suction? Mine tend to clog and the filter would stop working, so I constantly have to clean out the filter but I see you have all the plants by the suction section

I do it’s starting to look nice again but it’s been raining and cold so much I haven’t gotten to it yet. I’ll probably do it next week though.

Is the spec stock light good enough for plants?

I think SerpaDesign’s black water betta tank is really cool but he’s got a white betta so it stands out. With your betta if you went black water you might not get to see it’s beautiful blue colors. I also agree that the 3 gal specs are too small, I’ve kept bettas in them but they are definitely happier in 5-10 gallons. I have a happy guppy in my 3gal now all to himself. He was bullying all my other fish so he got his own tank to himself haha.

Maybe I missed it but how did you get moss to grow on the wall (filter side)? Also noticed you don't have any foam around the nozzle... did you place a sponge by the pump to lower the flow?

I'm curious if you did any mods for the water flow as it's for a Betta. Even the minimum I found it to be too much. So I stuck a an aeration tube somewhat to reduce flow. Lol

In the UK, biweekly means twice a week. Fortnightly means occurring every other week.

Hello! I have a fluval 5 gal. and I'm having trouble with the most basic part of the system. Where the water flows into the first chamber is not flowing. This started about 2 weeks ago and I've had the tank for 5 months. I've tried different water levels but the only way the water will flow through the grate is if I actively break surface tension with a skewer or forceps. The filter is working fine and the problem results in the top of my tank not getting any movement/filtration and gets a biofilm on it.

You could but at that point there would be cheaper options.

Thinking about doing a spec 5. Would like to do one with a super colorful fish. Any suggestions? Thought about an endler.

Those are good. Peacock gudgens are great if you have never seen them before.

Loving your tank I have the same one but I keep getting what looks like oil on the top of the water. When you Wipe the top it all sticks together and turns white. (You ever had this)

That Betta is gorgeous! Do you mind sharing the source? Also, I love that the heater you're using is submerged in the back of the tank yet you can still see the green/red indicator light. Which brand heater is that?👋🏻

I got him at Aquashella Chicago. I’m not sure who the vender was. The heater was the petsmart brand one. I’m having trouble remembering the name they give it.

With all your experience, can you suggest an automatic feeder that would work with this. Also, my ears perked up when you said your beautiful Betta came from Chicago. Mind saying which dealer or shop?

What level is your filter at?

I have a one 5 gallon fish tank with 4 fish in it

5g tanks are as small as I would go. I tried a few small setups and they work for a while, but don't last long term. I don't even keep 10g anymore except as quarantine or hospital tanks.

Yeah that’s why I get proud if they last a couple of years. This has done better than any of the others.

I can never grow Java fern green like that mina always turns brown any tips.

I love these spec tanks and you've always showcased them so well. I keep thinking of doing a 'native' black water tank. Loads of alder cones and dry oak leaves around where I live, I'd also like to incorporate a moss waterfall bit like I have done using an old half whiskey barrel outside kzread.info/dash/bejne/gH9kttNrkZPXaaQ.html It's so hard to get any livestock at the moment with out spending a fortune, I reckon native is the way forward at the moment

You can put it in your bedroom? Doesn’t it make noise?

It’s brand name is Hydra.

Oh I actually have a 5 gallon fraternity I've got one red bell tail and six guppies and they get along really well surprisingly I was actually just planning on doing a guppy tank and what happened was I found this video and a bunch of crown tails and I knew in Taiwan nobody would adopt this poor betta. Sadly my landlord said I can only have three fish tanks instead of 9 well technically only three animals which means when my dog comes back I have to figure out which fish is getting a new home probably my little female that's in my 2.5 gallon after a year goes by she'll be pretty healthy and I know who to give her to I broke my my arm 5 months ago and the doctor said it's going to be like a year before I can walk him he's living with his family and they're taking good care of him while I'm waiting for him to come back but I'll have him two tanks and most likely my cat who's watching but I don't think the cat will be a problem cuz she doesn't meow and I might actually let my cat stay with my roommate because we got her together and she's been with both of us for like 11 years and yeah so Olivia she lives in good hands plus my godson can play with her and take good care of her he's five. Male betta just depends on the personality same thing with the female betta I'm actually trying to see if I can maybe do a community tank with my red female I'm not sure I have to check it out
