Fluval Spec 5 for Kevin

Фильм және анимация

My friend and co-worker Kevin has a spec to set up! I'm always down for a spec scape. This was a little tricky as it had to travel after a partial setup. It came out great though let's hope it grows in well.

    I just bought this tank, and I’m having a bit of a problem where the stuff floating in the water won’t go into the filter intake, it just goes around it because the water is circulating it to much. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • @DarcyParker22

    Great tank for an office space. If Kevin adds fish, what are your suggestions for feeding on weekend? I am assuming colleagues would be happy to help out when Kevin takes PTO/vacation. But weekends may be difficult. Any automatic feeders that work well with the Spec?

  • @pecktec

    @pecktec

    6 жыл бұрын

    When I keep them at work I feed them well during the week and let them fast for the weekend. It’s always worked well for me and if they aren’t baby’s then it doesn’t hurt to do that. There are tiny critters and algae in planted tanks they can pick at too.

    Hi Pecktec, great video and tank. I am thinking about getting the same tank. How often are you doing a water change. I intend on only housing a single fish in there. Also what is the evaporation like, is your friend finding that he is topping the water regularly? Is the light compatible with a timer? Thanks

    What about the 2/3 height focal point dictated by the golden ratio? even if you just buried s'mthing underneath the substrate in one corner to make 1 of the dragonstones reach up to that point dont' you think it would improve the aquascape?

    Here is my honest review on this exact tank which i our purchased about 3/4 mths ago. The only and main issue I have with this is the flow. It’s way to strong or terrible as I like to say and would honestly reconsider unless fluval does something about it. I know They recommend a sponge.

  • @pecktec

    @pecktec

    6 жыл бұрын

    Really depends on what you put in it. I’ve had all the specs for years now and for the most part had no issues with that. When I have a betta in there I cut the flow with a sponge. Mostly I use them as little aquscaping projects and put babies or shrimp in there.

    Hi Pecktec, I have a question related to this video. Would it matter or be any different if i use the fluval 5 gallons of salt water tank 11000k led to keep fresh water fishes? The reason i ask because i really like the bright light of 11000k led. I might/might not have the fresh water plant in the tank. Any suggest must be appreciated. Thanks.

  • @pecktec

    @pecktec

    Not sure about that. You may get some wierd algae. The freshwater one is pretty bright. I don’t think the other one will grow plants very well. If you don’t want plants it may not be a big deal but I can’t say for sure.

    Some do and some don’t. I think the soil ones definitely decline over time. I like to add a bottom layer of Fluorite (Seachem) as it never degrades. So it gets a jumpstart from the top layer and maintains long term with the bottom layer.

  • @pecktec

    That sounds like a reasonable amount of fish. Sometimes the platys can be big waist producers and eat shrimp. They are friendly to fish though. Consider more embers and dwarf Corey cats and shrimp. If you want a mix. The more embers you add the more interesting they are. IMO

    I’ve never seen fluval tanks go on the dollar a gallon sale. This particular tank depending on where you get it ranges from around 89 to 99 dollars so living in America isn’t going to save you much money when it come to this particular tank. I love the look of fluval tanks but I can’t afford them right now.
