How to Aquascape a Fluval Flex 57 litre 15 gallon planted tank. This planted aquarium using only products available from my local Pets at Home store including Tropica Aquarium Plants.
I hope you like it. It shows that you don't need special aquascaping equipment or expensive products to achieve a healthy planted aquarium.
Keep on scaping!

Hi George, I realize this is a 3 year old video, but I just got into the aquarium hobby. After watching your videos on aquascaping a Fluval Flex, I was recently able to successfully scape out my very own Fluval Flex 15 gallon tank. Thank you so much for your videos and showing us that anyone can create beautiful aquascapes!!! Much appreciated.
Really wish I’d seen this before I set up my Fluval Flex 😂
Hi George. As an eager 10 year old I got the aquarium bug, unfortunately over the following few years I was just responsible for the early demise of numerous tropical fish. Nearly 40 years later I stumbled on your channel and you rekindled my love of aquariums. A year ago I brought my first nano aquarium and with your help created my first mini aquascape. A month ago I upgraded this to a 240L aquarium and using your home Aquascaper 1200 aquarium as my inspiration I created my first nature style aquascape. Thank you for the inspiration, I learn something new every day and now have my very own beautiful nature aquarium as my living room centerpiece 'George Farmer' Style :-)

Great video George as always. Definitely high spec nature aquarium with complex more detailed hardscape to inspire also more experienced hobbiests. Keep on scaping 😊
Your the greatest of all time!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾 Love From AMERICA
Thnx George. Just perfect for me. Gives me food for thought. U r now my mentor, Guru. U keep it simple and r not full of yourself. Just perfect. I live in Romania so hopefully I can get hold of the equivalents. I don't like hardscape - rocks and wood as for me it seems artificially setup - which it is so Iwill go for plants and fish only
I am looking at redoing my scape in my Flex 15 and my daughters Flex 9, and this video provided some great options. Thanks for the video and inspiration.
I’ve just been to my local pets at home, bought some Sagittaria Subulata, micsorum pteropus and hydrophilia siamensis, can’t also got some mopani wood, can’t wait to scape my aquanano 40. Your videos are great George.
Saw this tank in the newer video, went back here to check it out when it was made. I can see plenty of growth has happened, and it's stunning now as it is when it was made!
Beautifully done, everything is happy and so alive. Great job! Not experienced enough to offer up any suggestions.
Funny coming across this! Beautiful flex scape George! I remember watching this when it came out 3 years ago! Part of the reason I got my flex!
wow.. this is exactly what I will be attempting on my first aquascape!!! you made it look so simple and enjoyable... love the cinematic pictures at the end!! Keep going

I appreciate this video. Sure, it's not an artistic tour de force, but the fact is many of us viewers would be perfectly happy with that tank in our homes. You make it look easy and accessible, and I think that's important for promoting the hobby at all levels of experience and budget.

Fluval Flex was my introduction into planted tanks and it worked brilliantly for me with Tropica plants - I think 2019 is a time for you to flex (pun intended) and create a complex Dutch style Scape, I'd even go Dutch with you and lend a hand and learn a lot!

Nice work George. Did somenthing similar last year. I went to my local pets at home and got most of the plants you did and created a simple layout for my betta. Sometimes simple is better.

First of all, it's awesome that you scaped a fluval flex because it's very accessible and lot of people might get more out of it than you would think. If anybody gets anything close to what you made there they would stay in the hobby. Very helpful when u use the more common aquarium products. Secondly i know it might not be a good suggestion for the aquascaper you but I would love to see you attempt a paladarium and sort of do a mix of aquatic and terrestrial plant species that might go together and keep some crabs may be which like the land mass too. It would be just amazing to visit young only just to see the scaped first hand :)
Loved this, I did my first one in a fluvalflex with all Tropica too, it’s been great. I’d love to see a real high end nature set up, something to aspire too, although biotopes are my favourite so either! I am both camera shy and clumsy, but will look forwards to watching whichever lucky person gets to help you

Absolutely beautiful George as always. I have the Flex 9 gallon but doesn’t look as beautiful as yours. You’ve given me some great ideas so thank you. Here in Canada, there aren’t too many places locally that carry Tropica products so that’s a shame! Every time I watch your videos it takes me back to my youth walking with my Nanny in Poole Harbour. (Where she lived) so cheers for that mate.

I was going to propose an idea, but I really would like to see a collaboration between you and Jurijs. I loved the rather simplistic approach to the scape. Nice to see a change of pace. Beautiful fish, too!
Sometimes the simplest scapes are the best. Easy to maintain and keeping that water crystal clear. Following this video I have brought a 57L flex and a matching 123L flex. Planning on doing 2 scapes. Wish me luck.
Great little aquairum!
I nearly bought one of these tanks the other day, but decided on something a little bigger (75L) Getting all the materials together to hopefully set it up this week. Watching all your videos is really giving me some good ideas and advice. Thankyou and keep the new stuff coming please George. I once saw a aquarium set up like a mangrove forest in Cape Town aquarium many years ago. It wasn't densely planted but all the near vertical roots coming out of the sand was very dramatic. Haven't seen anything similar while searching KZread aquascape videos. And Cambridgeshire isn't that far from Yorkshire! 😜
Super "achievable content"; for many here in the States. Glad you made this video! I think the step-by-step and the outcome allows for new and old enthusiasts to either be encouraged or inspired. Well done (as always). Now... to answer the question of the 600. I've had insights to the purest forms and environments "Mother Nature" has ever created. I have also seen the effects of "Man" on "Her" created environments. As odd as it may sound; I find beauty and inspiration in both. A few years ago I started a 10g budget scape. One which I would change and learn from several times over. A concept I formed was "Trash Your Tank". I would use "trash" (nothing that would cause disturbances) as hardscape. Every time I "Trashed" my tank; I would always watch "Mother Nature" conquer said "Trash"; similar to what I was observing in a natural setting. With that said, (and I don't believe I've seen this type of "scape medium/message") "Trash Your Tank" *high end*! If you would like help... haha... you have my email ! I may be able to get a few days off work! Til then, Keep On Scaping!

Absolutely love the texture created by the leaves crossing and the vibrant green. Well done George. I'd love to see you do a bio and I could actually see in real life how to not kill plants.
As always.Perfection. Great advice and education. especially on the plants. for the style of your upcoming tank. I personally like the high end natural tanks that you do. WIth the drift wood and stone.

Complex jungle theme with lots of little critters and creatures : )
Hello George, scape with you? Yes please! :D I made the trip down south a month ago for your workshop, and even the thought of relinquishing control of travel plans to two different train operators and the TfL again would not deter me should I be given this opportunity - I was a bit too shy to put my hand up to assist during the workshop (introvert problems!) and gave myself a stern talking to afterwards, missed opportunities and all that. As for what I'd like to see in the 600: intricate, fine textures in both plants and hardscape. Quite possibly falling into the high end category you mentioned, I am picturing detailed rockwork, thinner twigs used in a root type effect perhaps, incorporating a cave/arch/overhang rock structure - sorry, getting ahead of myself a bit here but it would be fascinating to see how something like that is constructed, and to be inspired by and learn from something that is currently beyond my experience level - well, certainly beyond it as a solo effort...! ;)
Lovely video George! I have a flex near my desk at home and I chose to fill mine with a huge field of various Crypts and a Melon sword - my betta loves it!

Howdy George. I said that I would get back to you on my experience of the flex 1 year down the line. I can say that with tropica soil we have a very nice monte carlo carpet, minimal algae. I was pleasantly surprised because it was my first low tech tank for years, and it looks epic. Well done on the video. I guess we will all enjoy the experience of having this tank in a central place in our homes. It was well worth doing the video. Lots of planting is always the key.
Beautiful! Love it!

I really love the clean look, couple rocks and a carpet plant. Kinda looks like you're walking up a mountain side.
Definitely a super complex nature style and I should get to help you out as you have cost me a lot of money infecting me with the passion for aquascaping. I also have a red colander by the way.
I gave you a "Like" due to your shout out to pecktec! Keep up the great work!
Since you recently got a taste of how friendly and interactive Bettas are, I suggest a scape suited for a sorotity of 6-8 female bettas - lots of driftwood and tall plants to hide lines of sight, caves to go into etc. They are usually even friendlier than males, and will literally play with you and eat out of your hand. I got 8 in my 90x45x45 tank and they definitely want all your attention, and contrary to what most people think, some females rival and beat males in terms of color and looks. Cheers George.
Eat, sleep, scape with George Farmer, repeat! :-) I like the simplicity of the Fluval Flex. It's something I can easily do. I think for the 600, I would enjoy seeing you set up a very high end, complex aquascape or a biotope.

Hey George, please please please use that tank to make a paludarium shrimp tank. Its something youve not done before, an area of land mass above water with emersed plants, with a realistic submerged scape purely for shrimp. I think this would be genuinely interesting and exciting. Its something ive looked at a lot recently and really encapsulates the beauty of having a little piece of nature, or in this case a cross section of a habitat in your home to admire. Great work as always 👍🏻
Hey George, was great to meet you at Aquarium Gardens last week with my girlfriend! Looking forward to another year of great content :)
Another great scape George. I'm currently doing a large cube scape but as a stop gap I was thinking of doing a fluval flex and now seeing this I think I will have to. On the 600 i think it would be cool to use moss balls (cut up) to replicate small areas of 'greenery' between rocks. iv seen it done before and thought it was a great idea. That with a high end scape from yourself would be awsum. I'd love to learn from you and scape it with you. be prepared for a lot of questions though I am inquisitive! would be an honour. as always . . keep on scaping!
Wait a sec.. I thought that was the low budget aquascape in the post image the other day😒 Looks great George 👍👍👍
Really nice to see some more affordable and easier scapes, love it! Regarding the Aquascaper 600 i would love to see your take on a paludarium style tank! 🙌

Nice way to show people that you don't have to go bankrupt making a nice scape. It's a shame that here in colombia we don't get tropica plants and plant suppliers will charge a lot for really common plants that are available everywhere. Great video!
Hi George i hope the people at tropica will come to Middle East especially Saudi Arabia... aquascaped aquariums seems to have a big potential
Really beautiful aquarium showing once more that you don't have to spend loads of money to get it beautiful! I would liked to see you make a shallow aquarium (I'm about to transform a turtle aquarium into a fish aquarium 80×20×20). Keep on teaching me to scape! Happy New Year! Best regards, Armando Ruas from Portugal
That Flex15 turned out really nice. That’s precisely the type of scape I like. I’ve been wanting one of those, but I have no space to set one up.

The plants have grown in so quickly, what a fantastic example of what you can get from your local store chain. I'm soon to be scaping an aquascaper 600 and the opportunity would be a great introduction. I will have the equipment for a high tech version so that or a classic would be awesome with focus on good hardscape design. George, Steve and the Dragon stone maybe?
I would like to see you step outside your norm and do a scape that has a hardscape that is more complex such as the ones that represent diorama or fantasy/ gravity defying layouts ! A mix of surrealism and Aquascaping could be fascinating
very informative.
Nice and an achievable scape for everyone! For the other tank it would be nice to make a high end nature jungle scape!
thank you!
Beautiful. I want to do this for my beta but I am afraid to fail at it. I saw a video where they did two islands connected by a piece of wood. I loved the idea, but their execution did not turn out too well, in my opinion. I would love to see you take a crack at it.
George wheres the update on this tank Mr. Busy!? lol No seriously though man. You are such a huge inspiration for me. You are one of the main people who got me into scaping. For that I thank you sir. Can't wait for Tropica plants to be main stream in the States.
Looks great George ! Such a good video and goes to show what a new hobbyist can accomplish ! While not investing in high end lights or co2 kit. I would love to see you do a complex nature style aquascape in the 600. Wish I could scape with you ! But I live in NYC lol who ever wins is lucky

Whats your thoughts on the C02 system used? Im about to set up another tank and going through different options. In terms of the Aquascaper, how about a high end scape with a sort of mountainous theme either side and a valley just off center?
Nice scape, I'm picking one up for my desk.
This tank is awesome. I was thinking how good it would look all settled in when it only had the first group of foreground plants and it only went uphill from there! Keep up the good work George 🌱

Really really really good video!! Looks great and I love the fact that you've gone to a store that gets ripped to shreds by a lot of people! Next setup would be a high energy one, you've done a few low energy setups as well as nanos etc so it would be good to show everyone the other end of the scale. Why I would love to help you? Easy, for all the times I have been to your workshops and you've asked me to help you with the planting etc I've always bottled it, I guess this way it would be more personal and relax without the eyes initially watching! Keep up the great work buddy

It’s amazing what you’ve done with such a flexible tank! It’s given me lots of push and ideas to do the same.... also shows you don’t have to travel around to all the aquatics stores to produce a quality happy little environment for fish! I’d love to scape a nature scape in the 600, you inspire many a budding aquascaper and would be like a young Padawan with you as Jedi master :-) okay.. I’m not that young, but you get the idea right?? I can travel.. by car and not an x-wing fighter.. Keep on scaping :-)
Love it George. I have seen these tanks fly off the shelves recently at my local lfs and really they should be using your scapes as their selling photos 😉 I would love you to do a high tec Dutch aquascape with your 600 as it's not something I think I've seen on your channel and I think would be a great challenge to find complimenting plants to create a truly unique 'farmer' influenced Dutch scape. I would love to do this with you to see how someone I have learnt alot from and am inspired by does it in the flesh. I also guess rather selfishly... it would gives me a better chance of creating something equally as beautiful in my own home having seen it done by a pro with my own eyes 😂
Firstly, congrats on 60K subscribers!!! Cool introduction to the new year. Something i havent seen you do, so a little bit of a challenge, but how about a dutch style with those contrasting green and red shades. otherwise ill always be a fan of the dark water tank you created last year.

Pretty scape George!! I would recommend an African biotope.. somewhat similar to the one which we had seen at the green aqua in one of ur videos... it's simply stunning!! #keeponscaping
I think you should do the most complex scape you've ever attempted.
Ohhh. Scape a highend with advanced plants.
Would like to see a complex hardscape, where the wood or stone is the main attraction with beautiful plants to go with it!
Lovely!
This is beautiful. I’m not sure I could ever do anything like this. I get intimidated even by the names of the plants lol.

My first comment and the first time I’ve watched one of your videos till the end. This isn’t because I didn’t like the videos, the complete opposite in fact. Oh wow, the tank is a looker! I'm a week late on this video, been setting up my own 15gal Flex, but I like Juri's idea; you two should collaborate on the 600.
George yet again another great vid and unlike Pecktec who has hit the whisky recently due to sad syndrome you are sober as a judge. Bro gather your stuff and make your decision on the day and your heart will make you build the best tank........... cant wait to see it and I hope pecktec finds his way out of the drink
Something like a cave entrance or large over hanging rock might make quite a cool scape, no idea how you would do it but i haven't sen much like it
We just got tropica plants at my lfs, Aquarium Zen owned by Steve Waldron in Seattle!! I'm so excited to plant them! I vote for a biotope in the 600 😁🤗👍
Great vid, I enjoy this budget oriented content. Would also like to see you do a high end scape with complex hardscape in the 600.

Hi George. I think the work you do to promote aquascaping is fantastic. Its great you always talk about different levels of the hobby.
