MAKO Spearguns tutorial: How to tie power bands for your speargun.
makospearguns.com/attack-pack...
Speargun bands are referred to as a lot of different things - powerbands, speargun rubber, even speargun elastic - but whatever you call them, almost all need to be tied and this video will demonstrate this process in detail.
This is an easy step, but an important one, and we want you to get it right. If this is the first time you've tied speargun bands, or you haven't tied a band in awhile, this video is for you!
To start you'll need some tools including a wishbone insertion tool, scissors, a tape measure, two pairs of pliers, your wishbones, band tying line, good quality silicon spray and a lighter.
If you're making new bands we're going to start by measuring and cutting the latex tubing. In our case we're cutting our bands to 19 inches, but your bands may be a different length. If you don't know the length band you need we have a great chart on our website in the Instructional information section - you'll definitely want to check that out at

The video will guide you through all the steps needed to tie your speargun bands - from measuring and tying knots to testing the band before you install it on your speargun.

I gotta watch this every year to remember hahahaha
Thanks Matt; we really do appreciate it. We will continue to work on expanding our archive of "reference" videos...
Nice job with these videos! I appreciate this.
I should also note that the type of cord used is critical to the knot holding! I used some good nylon cord that was strong, but slick. Sure enough, it slipped when i tested it under pressure and slapped my hand pretty good. Definitely, use the correct cordage. I switched it to the same cord I use for my compound bow D-loop, which is a stiff 2.4 mm cord. That's doing the trick. Better yet, probably just go buy Mako's cord and not worry about it.
Great Instructions. Thanks brother.
Thx! Great info!
Gracias!! Video excelente y muy claro!
Well done!
i never thot to do a double knot. love it
Awesome video very infromatinal and great for us spero's, I also re-posted this vid on my NCUH web site for our 900 members to see thank you Dano and crew at mako.
nice video!! thanks very much!!!
Great info.
Thank you
Thanks for the real nice tutorial. What I would like to know is, what thickness dyneema is used for the wishbones and what size for the constrictor knot bands? I'm in the UK and would buy from you but I can't afford $50 shipping on two pieces of dyneema. Cheers.
thank you
Thanks for video ✌🏾♥️

Glad it helped!
Nice..👍👍👍
Nice video and very informative. However, I like to tie my bands with loops from each end with the wishbone attached to each loop with a sheet bend not. This makes it easier to change the wishbone out if it breaks. This can even be done while you are in the water spearing so that you don't waste valuable water time re-outfitting the gun.
i am intrested in mako, how does it compare to cressi elite? i am looking for a new speargun and not sure what each brand offers.
Good👍
Show! !
BRAVVO!
What if we dont have that (T) shaped metal thing to put the rope inside the rubber?
That placement tool is $20. I used a 3/8 x 1/2 x 1-1/2 steel spacer for $1.5. Worked it in easily with a stub from a pair of pliers. Worked like a charm. No damage to the rubber at all. Could also use a 9mm 1/4 socket.
