Spearfishing South Coast NSW Winter 4K
Spearfishing South Coast NSW is here! After being locked outside of Sydney for 3 months ive decided to make and dedicate a video to the South Coast of NSW. From Jervis Bay to Eden if you are prepared to deal with colder and sometimes murky waters you can grab a nice feed.
Dont be afraid to drop some feedback i love to hear it and reply to you guys.
The shots were taken from numerous dives and I take a variety of fish as I believe it's the most sustainable way. If I only targeted one or two species like most we would have a significant impact on the stock so diversity is key, it also encourages you to cook and try different methods of prepping fish which is always great for the taste buds.
All fish were of legal size and were speared for consumption, I have a NSW Fishing Licence and abide by catch size limits, daily takes and no fish zones. Over the past 4 years now I have made the commitment to no longer buy fish, so I only eat the fish i catch. Spearfishing is the most sustainable form of fishing on the planet, it is also the most environmentally friendly form of fishing.
Let me know what you think of the video in the comments section. Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed the video and don't be afraid to like, share and subscribe for more Spearfishing!

@@WetMammal feedback and hard work! Stay modest mate!
I live just north of JB and have recently got into snorkeling. Loved seeing what was under the water! Once I improve my diving and breath holding off love to try spear fishing.
Thanks for notes about fish species at the bottom. Great channel.
Love seeing those beautiful honey holes, my buddies and I find holes like that full of oversized Crays, love the vid!

Awesome video, really enjoyable to watch, and love the attitude. I really like the comments on the screen, it helps me learn some of the species.. Always good to grab a bit of rubbish when you can too! Thanks for the vid!
I love that you're explaining that "undesirable" fish can still be tasty if prepared or cooked in different ways. We don't always have to smash the popular demersal species.
you're shooting is fantastic tbh, i really enjoy your vids, 3:00 was a funny stand off, except you were the one with the gun hahahaha
Hahaahaha! @9:50 You found one of the 23 Aerobie's that I've lost off the east coast of Australia over the years! Nice one! :D

No worries, I do it because it only takes a few moments to do and makes the environment better and safer. Worth doing our bit to protect these pockets of nature we can still call wild 🤙🏼
That running shot on the goaty was wild

So South of Wollongong qualifies? Beautiful underwater scenery and some tasty fish. I notice you don’t see to many Sea Sweep over there, they’re everywhere here.

Was spearing in Jervis bay a few months ago and missing it everyday since I’m back in Victoria. The NSW coast is definitely more attractive than Port Phillip Bay and the back beaches down here. Good content, it’s nice to watch! Also was wondering what brand your roller gun is? Been looking to upgrade to a roller gun but there are so many options and I’d appreciate your opinion :) Edit: Don’t worry about the roller gun I just read your description

I think that abalone knife with the orange string on it was mine that I lost a year ago. Did you find it near Observation Point Lookout at Batesman bay?
@WetMammal
2 жыл бұрын
A couple hours south of Batemans Bay, but ill keep my eye out for ya!
I've been wondering if one was to focus on just one area 2.5 hours South of Sydney vs 2.5 hours North of Sydney WHICH WOULD BE BEST WITH ALL THINGS CONSIDERED. South has more beaches and easier to get to and quieter, but colder water. What about sharks? What about availability of species of fish, crabs, lobsters... Anyone have thoughts on this?
Where did you find the aerobie frisbee? I’ve lost about a dozen of those in the pacific!
@WetMammal

Curious about gery nurses, I've had dozens taking interest in me and every time I've shit myself, but they just circled and left. Do they ever become aggressive when you don't have fish on you?
Great video mate. 8.32 I've seen it in a few vids now people spearing a rock cod like this... You're not worried about applying too much pressure to the mechanism your spear's clicked into and ripping it clean off? I tend to swim around until I've found an angle where the spear won't go straight into a rock behind the fish
@WetMammal
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah thats a really good point typically id disengage the spear and do it manually too. Ideally shoot the fish but sometimes like this it just doesnt present you with a shot. He would have fled into his hole if spooked too
