Spearfishing Carp and Striped Bass at Lake Powell, Utah

Спорт

I got to spend some time down at Lake Powell for the 2022 Spearfishing National Championship. I wasnt able to compete this time because I had just had back surgery two months before, but luckily I was healed enough to still be able to help on the boat, and get in the water a little bit and shoot a few fish. Im diving in a back brace for most of this video so thats why Im diving sideways a lot of the time. I let a lot of carp swim because I was trying for a very specific shot placement, and I passed a lot of stripers because I had seen a big one, in the twenty pound range in that area. Stripers that big are almost unheard of in Lake Powell, so it was really cool to see one that size. All in all, it was a great trip, with great conditions.

That was the same spot as the school at 11:52 I think. When I first jumped in at that spot (without a gun) a 20lb striper swam by, so I was holding out hoping the big guy would come back around.

Striped bass are one of the best tasting, and most challenging fish to spear in freshwater.
