Having been born and raised in northern Ontario, I learned ‘Finnglish’ and when my elders all left this world, I lost most of my meagre language skills. When I retired a few years ago, I signed up for Finnish language classes and was pleasantly surprised by how much came back to me and stunned by the complexities of the language as well. I began to learn how to read Finnish (helps immensely) and writing (extremely difficult for me) and feel a bit more comfortable with my almost forgotten first language. We travelled to Finland three years ago and I met some of my cousins - so amazing! I intend to go back and explore a bit more, spend time getting to know a few of my cousins and generally soaking up the beauty that is Finland. I also learned new words like lunch, weather, and then basics like months, clothing, body parts, etc. that I didn’t know before. Enjoying your vids and I can understand a lot of what you’re saying, but not all, so I’ll keep listening 😁.

Kiitos ... it's coming along.
The weather = sää and when you get back home laitat kahvin kiehumaan. The word (pannaan) is more often used for having ''fun'' with some one else in the bed. :) I think you should watch some finnish youtube vids. Im sure that will help with learning the spoken language.

When I read "laitat kahvin kiehumaan" I could hear my grandmothers voice. :) .. ha.. 'pannaan' that would have made for some more interesting subtitles.

I watch a fair number of Finnish KZread videos as well as some TV show's online and the news as well. It's getting a little better with trying to keep up.

"Pannaan kahvit kiehumaan" is definitely fine even though "pannaan" also means making love for the younger people. Older people used "naiminen" for same kind of making love word. Just makes you to sound like you are a bit older than you in reality are :D

panna is fine word to use whenever even though it also does mean having sex. Every1 understands if u just say it normally and not with a quirky laughing face.

I've been living and studying finnish for less than 3 years, I can speak it fluently but make the same mistakes as you! So happy to see that I'm not the only one. I can relate to u so easily. Very good finnish!! ❤
