Oh boy my cat recovered so quick! As soon as he got home and the anesthesia was fully out of his system he was straight to playing. I tried to calm him but he just had so much energy! I think it's also important to note that not all cats will need a cone. Some will go right for the stitches and some will leave them alone, so having the cone on could cause unnecessary stress. Something we learned from our local cat veterinarians. 🐈

Cats should always wear a cone after surgery. Better to be safe.

Just got my cat neutered 2 days ago. And he was a little wobbly the first day. But next morning he was Ontop of me purring for food. Now he’s acting like nothing happened… I keep refraining him from jumping too high though so I’ll catch him mid air and place him wherever lol.

Just got through 24 hours and so exahausted already since my kitty keeps trying to lick his incision. Wanting to jump everywhere as well. Even tried to growl and bite me even though hes never done thst when all i did was move his head from the incision. I feel for the little guy ❤

My cat got spayed yesterday ... it's been like 30+ hours since the surgery. We put on a back tying suit she removed it. Then we put on a velcro one she removed it. We taped her using surgical tape she's licking that too. She's trying to remove it I guess it's 3:18 am in the morning here. I'm looking after her so she doesn't lick her incisions by her tongue (I'll keep reapplying the tape if she succeeds removing it).The problem is she is agressive and doesn't stay still while putting her clothes and remove them.Give me some tips this is my first cat and I'm ready to ditch a week's sleep for her.

Doesn't she have her sticky bandage on her incision, which will avoit it from licking and keep the stich(incision)dry and clean.

@@shreyad6927 she removed it easily 😹 it's 20+ days now and she's all ok ...the taping worked she wasn't able to lick her incision area and the incision didn't open as well... now she's sleeping, eating, running, jumping high and playing well

@@funk__soularmy2221 oh good 😊 you did a great job I also got my cat spayed yesterday and the vet said to cover it incision with a cloth so that when it tries to remove it only removes the cloth not the tape But the problem she is stray cat i have been taking care of and doesn't like to stay home 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m so stressed because my little one is super hyperactive and I’m dealing with those issues as well… she has jumped and moved and fallen -I’ve literally been trying to avoid impact as much as possible but she’s just too energetic (which hopefully is a good sign) won’t force her to stay still nor put her in her kennel… but I’m so worried about her proper recovery, that I can’t sleep … 😓😩 she was neutered with inhaled anesthesia and I don’t see the benefits yet.

Thank you!!!!! My boy cat recovered fine, but the girl gor spayed and umbilical hernia at the same time and her internal stitches ruptured. I took her back to the vet asap and they did another another surgery to close the space. I just feel terrible for her in the bathroom but its the only place i can keep her away from play and activities with the other kitty. They play too much and I worry about her stitches. I feel so bad to keep her there, what should I do?

You are doing the right thing! Just like kids when they are injured or sick we must do whatever is best for their health and wellbeing. Just hang out with her as much as you can and reassure her that it's going to be ok. Talk to her definitely. She will understand the intent and energy behind your words. :)

I remember when i got my cat neutered, she somehow removed her cone thingy and hid it in my deck's storage area (yes i checked the security cameras) we were looking for it for months (my cats head was rlly small and no vet had the correct size of the cone) so meanwhile she was licking herself around the scar and making it worse so it took her way longer to recover 😅😅

@@nehamehran8530 her licking her scar is normal cat behavior. Just make sure she doesnt do it cuz it will make it harder to heal. Its best if she wears the cone cuz she might lick secretively which will just make ur life harder.

I’m honestly so afraid to spay my 2 female cats. I feel like it’s wrong to mess with their bodies so I put it off. My mom tries to convince it’s the right thing to do. I spayed my beautiful cat and regret so much doing it. I wish I had left her the way god made her. 😢

I love these ladies and they have lots of info,but i wish there was more on this subject especially on the recovery part and how to keep them in a spot,my kitties when nervous or scared go hide and in places that are hard to get them out of.I mean i know that im going to hafta keep her in the carrier till were home and in my bedroom with door shut.Even then im sure shes going to go straight under my bed or dresser.Im a nervous wreck as my 2 females are having there surgeries friday.Love my babies and cnt know enough about how to keep them healthy,safe,happy and not scared...

Hi we get it! Some babies are hard to keep down(just like kids right??) A tent or a small room with very few places to jump, just for the first week is important so that she doesn’t have to go back to vet for an injury is recommended. And make sure she isn’t licking the stitches too because we don’t want an infection. It’s hard but for her own good. You can do it, just give her extra cuddles. 🥰 🥰😻

How did your baby recover!?? This is exactly how my cat is acting . She had the procedure done today and 2 hours later acted completely as her normal self. So energetic, curious and jumping on the bed. I’m only keeping her in my bedroom with her food/water, cone on and pallet litter in my bathroom which inside my bedroom. I keep monitoring her incision which looks so far so good but I’m so scared cause she is so hyperactive

How did you build that cat things on the wall in ur home, Cat boxes and things they climb on?

I have a 2 y/o female whos sweet as could be but I can’t take the screaming anymore, she’s very quick to scare and doesn’t rly feel comfortable around anyone but me and I don’t want there to be some sort of mistrust to develop because she’s much older than normal for spaying. Not applicable to colony feral cats... I have to pick up a mom cat from the vet, and her almost fully weaned kitten is somewhere waiting for her.

I live in Portland Oregon and I've exhausted all resources of trying to find a low-income waitlist for a clinic to neuter my 1 year old male kitten. The veterinarians here want $400 to neuter. I'm actually from California where Haven Humane Society would offer affordable care for animals. I don't know what to do. Please help, thank you.

How am I supposed to keep a 10 week old kitten calm? Just had two sibling a male and female spayed and neutered. I have them separated so they don’t wrestle but for 10-14 days? That seems excessive. And I have to sleep, I can’t be up 24 hours making sure they aren’t running around. They both figured out how to get out of their recovery suits too 🤦🏻‍♀️ so those are pointless. If they’re feeling good, how do you mellow them out?

I raised from day 2 two orphan cats. There are 4 yrs old now. They used to be outdoors in day and indoors in night in winter time and sleep with me when they feel like and only in hot hours indoors in summer. I have my first child 15 months ago and even if I tried many things, I can't allow them be indoors again because every time they spay all around the house...I'm desperate..i want them to be indoors again and develop a bond with my child but I can't make them stop spaying in the house. ...do you have any tip???

Hi… my male cat was neutered 8 days ago he came home jumping around and playing with his sister I couldn’t keep his tunnel on his head he refuse and he was eating ok and drinking water but now he shows signs of not wanting to eat anything and drinks little water and he lost weight 😢

We are so sorry. Please call the vet and see what they suggest. We would suggest putting his stuff in a quiet safe space (Like a spare bedroom) and try to get him to be more calm and rest if possible. His body may just need a little rest.

See if you can connect to a local TNR group. (Trap and release) they can usually provide a trap with instructions, or reach out to your local shelter and ask if they have traps. Wishing you all the best!!

Oh let me tell you about mr. Kiitty🐈 He got home acted like he was off 10 tequila shots i was worried taco 🐈‍⬛was concerned lol he snatched the cone off 3 times partied til 2 in the morning I called in at this point because im like what did they give my baby and then slept till 3 the next day😅😂yeah vet instructions ok lol

I would call the vet and ask to make sure. But I wouldn’t worry about taking her in before calling, unless it starts swelling or turning red

Yes they were under anesthesia so it takes a while for their little bodies to rebound.😿

Light pink usually means healing, red is more like an infection, you could take a pic and send it to the vet to see what he says before taking her out and over during this healing time

So my cat always loses the muscle reflexes in his tongue after having sedation 😭 He gets really hungry but can't eat or drink anything for like 1-2 days post anesthesia . Any tips to make him feel better asap?

You could try to syringe a little baby food and water in him until he feels like eating again. :( So sorry.

I did remove it today Friday and just kept an eye on him. He did lick the furr around the area more than anything for quite a while but he's fine and the incision area looks good. Thanks

Cats will be groggy the first couple of days after they come out of anesthesia. 😿😿try to keep him still and bring his food and water and litter to him in a room so he doesn’t have to walk far for it

Watch and make sure it doesn’t start getting swollen or inflamed and Just follow those steps until he’s recovered and call your vet if they look like they may be getting infected!

Sterilzation means removing reproductive organs ...U can't choose if your cat is a male then it's neutering and if female then spaying

I wasn't sure if I should release a stray cat after 3 days of getting her spayed, alleycat says its fine but I guess I will take this advice instead...

I’m trying to figure out when it’s best to release a stray spayed cat as well. I really can’t keep her inside for 7 days as I live in a place that doesn’t allow animals. Also, the clinic said she was in heat when they spayed her.

Hey! I have two cats who were rescued and adopted on the same day and they both used to get along really well.. sleep together, eat together and play together. But yesterday I got the little older cat spayed and after we came home the younger one has been acting hostile towards it. Hissing and running away every time it sees the older cat. Even after multiple attempts by the older cat the younger one is still acting weird. Any idea what I should do??

This is very common when 1 kitty goes to the vet and comes back with all those new smells! We suggest a small new introduction and some patience while helping the one at home realize it’s the same baby! @@s.a6836 The gurgling did eventually go away but she also had some kind of coughing fit along with the gurgling so I ended up taking her back to the vet and was prescribed liquid antibiotics and the gurgling and coughing went away.
