    It works perfectly with all accepted euro coins. (eventhough it says currency USD on the side). I use it to count 0.5 - 0.10 - 0.20 - 0.50 - 1.00 - 2.00 coins. Converted the values in the coin accptor to 01 for 5 cents, 02 for 10 cents, 04 for 20 cents, 10 for 50 cents, 20 for 1 euro and 40 for 2 euro. The value from the serial is calculated as: value*5 = cents. to euro i did cents/100 = Euro val.

    When putting the coins through for ID, it would be probably better if you sit the device on the counter, so it wont be susceptible to minor movements and accelerations that would modify the interpretation of the coin.

    The coin acceptor sends an extra even-parity bit. Instead of the more common 9600 8N1, you have to configure it to 9600 8E1 and gone are the mysterious 2nd bytes :)

    To wire for a zero delay joystick controller some sites will tell you to cut off the Grey wires.. DO NOT .. wire both grey wires to a 12 VDC relay power side of the relay. the white wire to ground and then connect your Joy button wires to the switch side of the relay. I have found the speed of the pulses are way to fast for some encoders. I have a 6 coin programmable and it the easiest way to slowdown the pulses because of the relay EMF collapse is slower then the pulses just enough for the Joy controller to pick up the coin drop. I hope this helps someone else..

    Sir I'm woking on a project that uses solar power to charge laptops for students so I've decided to get an Arduino micro-controller + coin acceptor + a board of 8 relays, so I want to make sure that when a student insert a coin to the coin acceptor, the coin acceptor will send a pulse to the Arduino and the Arduino will active the relay for a certain period in order to allow the student to charge his/her laptop for that period. So how can I link/connect the coin acceptor to the Arduino such that the relay activates when someone insert a coin to the coin acceptor? Please help me, if possible give me the codes for this operation.

    I can't get the parallel port to work properly, it's supposed to send you a low pulse for about 100ms when it detect's a coin (on it's respective coin group pin), but the voltage of those pins ranges from 0.9v to 1.7v, and really noise on that, does anyone know how to properly use the parallel port on this coin validator?

  • @derkjochems1690

    @derkjochems1690

    +pacsmile There should be an electrical circuit explained in one of the documentations. It's required for your purpose. I recommend a cheap arduino on the machine, with serial. Then use the arduino to forward the values any way you want. You can even let the arduino calculate total (daily etc).

    I'm using it by the Serial Port. The 6-coin thing sends serial out to my raspberry pi. I can read it. But the pulse stuff is just too low control. Parallel is not what i've tested or used.

    Hi. The computer interprets what to do with each coin. There are some coin mechanisms that can be used to provide power for a certain amount of time, or you could use a device like an arduino or another computer in order to control what to do when 4 dollars is put into the mechanism. Good luck

    you would just program it for some ridiculous value that doesn't exist and then in software deal with it. So a 83 cent coin = $2. 57 = $1. It doesn't need to be the exact value of the coin since it doesn't matter to the device. You could maybe support euros or pounds too and just use different random values.

    Using a makey makey or other device, and using pulse mode, you can get each coin to act as a number of button presses. 1 dollar = 1 button press, for example.

    +KrissiBT Sure dude i got it working ... what you wanna know? i have the 6-coin acceptor dg600F - add power 12vdc to the coin acceptor - add ground to the coin acceptor, and the same ground (3 way gnd -called common- to the raspberry pi gnd pin). So you have gnd like this [PI] - [CoinAcceptor] - [MainGND] - add the signal (mine is white line) to raspberry pi RXD gpio pin (P15) Put the 3th dip-switch pin to above (ON) position. Make sure your RPI is NOT printing serial to console. Now you can use Python, Xojo or another language to read serial from your PI. (baud rate default 4800 i believe mine is set to 9600)
