Loved this ! I'm in Atlantic Canada and I would like nothing more than sitting down with you both and chewing the fat. Been riding 50+ years. I had a 1973 CB175 twin carb. Have a 1977 CB360T and a 1982 CX500 Custom in my shed. Presently riding a 2021 RE Meteor 350. Cheers mates.

Welcome our new Canadian friend! Great to have you aboard. Yep, just a couple of silly old tossers chewing the fat. And don't we all love a bit of banter with mates. Cheers, Snaggy.

I'm a little younger than you gentlemen, just a little, unfortunately. My first bike was a CB250 in that same gold, drum brake on the front. Silly money when I went looking for one a decade or two ago, for what really wasnt much of a bike. Nostalgia and hipsters created a strange market. I've wanted an R100RS since I was about 15, in the smoke grey, only someone lacking taste and discernment would call such beauty ugly. Spanner holding a glass of red, seems appropriate. I've been reading your columns since before I could hold a licence. I'd like to thank you both for the pleasure and the odd bits of info that have come in useful over the years. Most appreciated guys. The Tingate is a thing of beauty, and to be fair, probably has the fastest ever XS250 wheels on earth. I had the dubious pleasure of riding a mates new one back in the day, my envy of his shiny new motorcycle was gone within 3kms, slow, fat, and on the brighter side the brakes were shit too, increasing your corner speed potential.

Great to hear from you! Yes, the Tingate is a real thing of joy, glad you get it. Many do not understand small capacity rarities. You are welcome re the stuff we have been putting about for a hundred years or so. It's lovely to get feedback. Ride on!

My 73 CB 175 had the same front drum brake. The retaining bolt on the drilled out spring tension shaft dropped out as I was gearing down. Front wheel locked, up and yes, I took a swan dive. Been checking bolts and things on my bikes ever since. That was about 50 years ago. Cheers. 😎
