iMuchísimas gracias! Aprendí muchas nuevas frases muy utíles. Creo que esta leccion va a ayudarme mucho en mis estudios de español. Mi frase favorita probablemente es *por suerte*. Esa me parece muy util para saber, porque casi todo el tiempo estoy diciendo *luckily* en ingles.

¡¡Hola amiga, saludos desde España!! Me encantan tus vídeos, aunque no me hagan falta los disfruto mucho jejeje. Un ejemplo que puede ser confuso para los no hispanoparlantes este: "he comprado un libro por/para ti" ya que ambas formas son correctas dependiendo del contexto.

Estoy estudiando español en la Uni y nos han explicado que se utiliza presente por situaciones que no han sucedido porque no es realidad y por lo tanto no es pasado - por ejemplo "Estuve caminando ayer cuando casi/ por poco me caigo". He hablado con gente en España y lo he escuhado muchas veces así. Pero puede que haya una explicación mejor. :D

thanks for videos Andrea. But why did you used different tenses in the same sentences like: "por poco PIERDO el examen, SAQUE 3.5" or "por poco PASO el examen, SAQUE 3.4" Why didn't you say: "por poco PASE el examen, SAQUE 3.4" or "por poco PERDI el examen, SAQUE 3.5" ????????????? In this case you already know the results of the test and we should use past tenses for both verbs. Am I not right?

Hi, thanks for your comment. Yes, what you are saying makes total sense. That is the way it should be. If you translate directly from English, it should be POR POCO PERDÍ/PASÉ el examen. But it's one of those things..in Spanish we just don't say it like that, we don't use the preterite (past) in this case because for us this is something that JUST happened. So it's kinda like still in the present in a way, so that's why we use the present instead of the preterite. Just know that it's just the way we say it :)

You mentioned "Por supesto" means "for sure". Doe the word "Claro" also mean "sure"?

Hi Donal! The word CLARO means OF COURSE most of the time, but it can be used loosely, so it could also mean SURE, or OBVIOUSLY. You can also use it as follows: El cielo es azul claro. (The sky is light blue). I hope this helps!

These idiomatic expressions, you just have to learn them without thinking too much about it. Some words would be different if you try translating them, and even the tenses used. Valid question though! :)
