After the horrendous performances in two major tournaments in a row, Italy somewhat salvaged their pride with this result. They almost snatched a win in the previous game vs Sweden so could be on an upward trajectory under the new manager. As Spain's own example has shown, in 4 years a team can go a very long way

Italy played well throughout, especially on defense. Spain was uncharacteristically sloppy on defense, GK make a couple of unforced errors, and they looked uncoordinated on the attack. Italy took advantage and deserved to win (except maybe for that uncalled hand ball.)

Un po di gioco si è visto,se pensiamo al nulla dell'ultimo mondiale.. L'allenatore a questi livelli conta molto (sicuramente conta di più che nel calcio maschile che è totalmente di un altro pianeta).. Sono sicuro che l'impronta tattica possa fare la differenza..

E la prima volta che vedo la nazionale femminile vincere con una squadra di alto livello in una competizione ufficiale..Brave. Il cambio in panchina e stato fondamentale,ma comunque spero che tengano i piedi piantati per terra,perché con la palla a terra non siamo male ma manchiamo nel gioco aereo e fisicamente siamo ancora indietro di molto se messe a confronto con le scandinave...Le spagnole seppur sono campionesse del mondo con loro se la partita viene messa sul piano fisico te la puoi giocare (certo che se giocano sempre su un alto livello tecnico e difficile batterle).. Il nuovo mister deve mettere in condizioni le ragazze di poter imporre il loro gioco con la palla a terra,specialmente con le squadre forti fisicamente e sul gioco aereo,cosa che non a saputo fare l'allenatrice nell'ultima debacle mondiale..

@@Happy-wb8gi You have to be kidding me. Italy was no where in the first half. In the mid-time Spain already know they were into the final four, so the trainer made 2 changes in the squad. The referee allowed the 2nd half to start while Spain was playing with only 10 players, just then Italy scored its 1-1 then... Spain throwed the match with the help of the useless referee. In the 1st halp Spain was toying with Italy.

This game proved two things. One is that football is all about taking chances, and the other is that the women's game is getting more even.

The Spanish defense made the same mistake twice. Poor judgement on the left defender to pass back to the goalie, and for the goalie to pass to the middle defender. These are low-level mistakes and should not happen at this level. Maybe they think "we are the world champion. We have to win with style. We can't just kick the ball out." This is like Brazil in the game vs Croatia when they led in overtime "we are Brazil. We can't just play defense. We need to keep attacking."

Las malas decisiones de M. Tomé, y el individualismo y exceso de protagonismo de jugadoras como Abelleira, Carmona, Hermoso, L.García, Salma, traen estas consecuencias. En la segunda parte se ha visto claramente que sin Aitana no hay control, pausa, orden y juego colectivo. Que aprendan.

Pero si había buenas jugadoras ahí y no las ponen. Para empezar Lucía García cuando tienes a Eva Navarro? ¿Ivana Andrés cuando tienes a Oihane o Codina? Y se quita a Irene Paredes? Yo lo que entiendo es que Montse dio por perdido el partido, y el error de que España salga con 10 a jugar el segundo tiempo es por el cuerpo técnico,... no sé muchas cosas raras he visto aquí, por parte de todos, las jugadoras, el cuerpo técnico y el arbitraje (¿ese gol anulado por la cara? ¿Esa manita? ¿Y el penalti a Salma que no se pita tampoco pero la agarraban clarísimamente, y en cambio sí pitan esa nofalta de Lucía?...)

It was so painfully obvious. Seems like her teammates would rather LOSE than let her shine. Their best player completely ignored the entire game... fast forward to the future (now the present), and all their subsequent games Sama's teammates MADE sure she was involved. What did the Spanish team do? They completely destroyed their opponents, and Paraluello was clearly the class of above the rest. Clearly the Coach and Salma's teammates got a lot of criticism from the Spanish fans for ignoring Salma.
