It's being a good year for olive trees so far. The acebuches (wild ancestors of olive trees) are already blooming so the olive trees will do so in one or two weeks time. Allergics beware! If just it rains in September olive oil should be cheaper next year. Some people keep geting oil from the wild olives. In Moroco too. It's quite more than bitter, only to use a couple of drops on fried eggs and so.

The average Portuguese worker can only dream of receiving 1,545 euros per month, and then, when they retire they can dream again about getting a pension anywhere near the Spanish average amount.

They also send a message SCAM that there is a parcel at the PO, which needs to be paid for before collecting and then ask for all bank details, I nearly fell for it as I also receive parcel from Austrailia which I have to pay tax on - but best it coming straight from you Postal person who usually brings your mail., thanks Stuart, Joy

Hi Stuart, as airfryers become more prevalent, avocado oil might become more in demand, as it has a higher smoke point and so is a better choice for same.

avocados require much more water than olives to grow, so good luck with that when dought is the current problem for olives.

Native English speakers is what All schools want. Money and hours not great. 🤔 little by little down here. Also a contract is the most important thing Brian 👍🏻

I agree. My daughter taught in an Academy for 10 years. The pay was low and the hours unsocial once she had children. That is why she is doing a post graduate course at the University of Madrid so she can teach in a primary school and earn better money

The median salary in Madrid is most likely quite a bit more than €1500/month... Madrid has always had a higher avg monthly salary than other regions of Spain... so Diaz´s comment makes little sense. The avg monthly salary in te Canary Islands is about €1200/month

The girl with a degree in food science could easily get a job in her field in ireland. You're right Stu she would be fluent in English by now but because she learned in Cork no one else will understand her😂

Olive oil issues. Bad crop. Every few years olive groves shut themselves down and nature re charges the trees until the next season. Greek fires destroyed groves . Gaza & West bank plantations damaged by war & restrictions. Lebanese groves not accessible due to security in the region. Ukrainian groves down due to the war .

The year the olives trees take a rest is called "vecería" in Spanish. Like cervecería, but without the cer. It's going to be a good year for barley too.

How does a country that has 12% unemployment rate accept millions of undocumented immigrants? That the same question I ask about my own country: the Dominican Republic with millions of illegal haitians, where the natives are displaced and to emigrate themselves.

We didn't chose, the people did't chose, but is not only ilegal that is actually horrible, also legal 2 millions+ have been legalized with the new law of south amerca blood line, and if i can choose I prefere the legal ones no question ask, but we just don't have enought jobs at all Spaniards go out of Spain 500k las year, and im talking about people with degrees and people with basic studies coming in so numbers don't add up, we need the goverment to let the companies more free and more entrepreneurs, but who want to be an entreprenour in a country that steals every penny of you.

Avocado oil... There is a shortage of olive oil due to drought. Growing avocados takes much more irrigation than olives. What a typical ignorant (american?) idea. "No bread? Why do they not eat cake instead?" (aristocratic, equally out of touch historical French comment, before the days of You Tube).
