    Can Starship have swept wings like and F111 or F14 to adapt to the thinner atmosphere of Mars for atmospheric belly flop maneuvers? Can the Tesla bot Optimus create concrete for a launch and landing pad on Mars before people even arrive? Are there materials on Mars to make concrete or something similar in light of the lack of surface water? Can Starship adapt to land on uneven or un-prepared surfaces? Just a few thoughts while looking forward to Mars missions.

    Ok across Europe you can buy small towels that are used around the kitchen to dry the used pots pans after washing or used to wipe down surfaces or use like an oven glove for lifting warm pots pans. Most are bought when away like fridge magnet memento key rings. Just useful everyday quick use and into laundry everyday items

    Basically Space X believes in testing before advancing the development of Starship. SLS and Vulcan were both built with some similarity with past rocket designs and sometimes even the same equipment such as the RS-25 engines and SRB's on the SLS. Starship is an entirely new design as it is the biggest most powerful rocket ever.

    @@imconsequetau5275 Thank you very much for your answer. I appreciate it a LOT. If it's a byproduct, I can see the molecular links to cause the creation of H2O and CO2, then, what can be done about it? Does the 2 new molecules, condense to each other and form larger pieces? And then, do they contaminate the props, getting into the pre burners? Or the filters are designed to stop that? Pardon me for coming from a relatively uninformed point of view, however, sometimes a fresh look at stuffs, and First Principles thinKING, getting back to the basics, so to speak, helps find solutions. We are maKING huge advancements in material sciences, right NOW, and maybe, there's some coatings or finishes that may help, somewhere along the systems? It doesn't matter if nothing offiCIAl has been reported, these are valid concerns and questions, looKING for solutions. If the OP had to do with why the IFT-2 booster didn't relight, properly and stay lit, I watched it over and over, and believe it was fuel slosh, and just adjusting the flight control software, relight a little bit later, to allow fuel to settle and baffles. I like to think of baffling to be in the shape of, like a snail shell, or Nautilus 🐚. 🤔 Too, my chainsaw and weed eaters work pretty good upside down for a few. It should all be basic, to figure it out. But rethinking stuffs, at times, can come up with solutions, that might even apply to another project or situation. Sorry for the longgg comment. And thank you for taking time with it and any further comments. Goooo SpaceX and NSF/SBL. 🤠

    I suspect SpaceX will try to launch two Starships within less than 30 days this year. After all to deliver HLS they will need to launch multiple within a month to build up a sufficient supply. If they manage to catch and reuse a booster in 2024 they will have at least ten full stacks ready this year.

    In answer to the question about whether the multiple engines on starship's exhaust will combine to form an aerospike like effect and increase efficiency i think it will have no effect at all. The thrust of a rocket engine is a result of the force of the exhaust gasses acting on the engine bell and thrust chamber. An aerospike develops it's extra thrust by the force acting on a physical spike - without a physical spike there is no surface against which the exhaust plume can interact so there is no aerospike benefit to the clustered engines.

    @@NASASpaceflight AFAIK the ring of engines on stokes vehicle is to provide a way to use propellant flow thru the base to conduct away heat from kenetic heating during re-entry it does not provide any extra thrust during launch. Whether it's actually feasible to help re-enter that way is something they plan to find out the hard way. The downside of a wide base is that it increases aerodynamic drag. SpaceX's approach is to keep the vehicle quite narrow to reduce drag force.

  • @stephenhumble7627

    @stephenhumble7627

    2 ай бұрын

    @@NASASpaceflight I looked into the claims about stoke space the only place claiming it's an aerospike is everyday astronaut who i think is confused about this. The arrangement with the ring of nozzles around a central core is reminiscent of a coaxial aerospike engine but it is missing the spike - so it is not actually an aerospike - but i can understand why people could get confused about that. The aerospike efficiency gain is a result of exhaust gas pushing against the spike and further collimating the exhaust stream - without the spike the exhaust gas plumes just collide with each other causing additional heating and no additional thrust.

    Since the second launch pad and tower won't be ready for at least 18 months I think they may be well beyond the 8th and 9th flights by then. It takes time to drill the 30 m deep piles for the foundation, build the tower, the launch pad and connect the GSE.The launch pad may be most time consuming. And who knows what upgrades are coming for the 2nd complex. If Space X has a decent 3rd launch they could get into a flight every two months there after which could mean 4-5 more flights this year. It's a huge challenge the next couple years will bring to be sure, but I think they'll get up to speed.
