I've been interested in space and SpaceX for a long time, so when I first saw them using a parafoil to recover fairings I thought it would be a cool project to try to replicate.

Well done! The amount of work is proportional to the amount of ribs to sew (not much to the size of the project), and 19 cells is almost miniwing territory. You've even spliced the lines, you're a patient man! Did that exercise raise enough confidence to sew yourself a paraglider? :D
Let me know if you decide to build another wing someday. I think I could probably cut the panels for you with my laser cutter. You might have your own machine by now though. Incredible work here and on your other projects. Very inspirational.
Impressive work Andre, now we can all appreciate the skills that all our paragliding firms need from their excellent staff!

Thank you Brother Genius for your educational report. Glad to know how to work a sewing machine. I am one level below you. Very inspiring.
Sows you right, great job !
Wow that was very informative!

Great video. Would be interesting to try RC setup and try test soaring along beach shore ridge.
Bet he can fold a damn fitted sheet by himself too. Good, no, GREAT video Anthony.
Awesome job. I’m 135 lbs. I think I could fly it. Top notch kiting skills btw.👍🏻
Amazing!
Awesome. Would be a dream to accomplish my own build wing but probably never get to it because to much work with what I am doing now. But awesome.
Very interesting
Nice video!! Fun to watch!! One question - and I know it's a model and not so important - but I was wondering about how you're attaching and linking the lines and cascades with a lark's foot where only one of the loops is passed through the other instead of both through each other. I ask because this is something which was called out in the accident report/analysis by Ozone for Kiwi's incident and I wonder if it's good to be consistent even in models. Anyway, awesome video!! And making/splicing lines is somehow so much fun!!
OMG I have been doing way too much nylon sewing! As soon as I saw that thread on fire I waited then blew at the screen! It went out, so the next one I did too. How bizarre! I always wanted to see something being made from single skin, thanks you guys! You got skillz Andre with the fid, were you a sailor before?
That is very impressive. We'll done

Pretty cool!
hello, nice project, what kind of strings are used in the rc paraglider friend?
I'd buy one!!!
Love your channel. Now, which nano paratrike is your favorite ?
Cool! I'm currently building up a LuteFisk RC paramotor. This is the original design used for the Hobby King RC model featured in one of Andre's earlier videos. The HK wing has fairly inconsistent line lengths making it difficult to launch and prone to collapsing in anything higher than a slight breeze. It does behave better if flown heavier, and single skin designs benefit from a bit more brake to keep the leading edge inflated. The single skin wing designer is available. ICAREX PC31 for fabric, and Dyneema Spyderwire for lines. Neither are optimal, and an updated design for the LuteFisk is using a slightly softer material. Andre, I like the line you're using. Can you share what is?
Wow cracy project. Great work. May I ask how many hours went into this?
Impressive! I have to say, you have too much free time :-D
That is a lot of work you out in for a small parafoil
This put a grin from ear to ear on my face. What a lovely little glider! Are you gonna make it radio controlled and let it soar? That would be fun, I guess.

I loved the build and would like to sew one for myself (Rc Project). Is there any way i could get the plans?
Have you thought of making a real (life size) paraglider before? it would show people a lot about the function, aerodynamics, and work that goes into a paraglider.
what nylon was used for this wing?

Thanks! More of this we want to see. More construction, design, assembly, sewing knowledge, splicing. Is there any good free program to develop a good single skin kite? What type of printer is needed?

Could you tell me the name of the fabric you used to make the SpaceX paraglider, in quotes please, to understand it better, I still want to make a mini paraglider

Hi Andre, I’m part of a University rocketry team who competes at Spaceport America Cup in the United States. As the recovery lead, I’m trying to develop a gps guided parachute system from scratch. One component of that is manufacturing our own paraglider. Do you have any resources for the parachute, including anything from sewing, the materials, or the different gores.
Looks great! Good project to try, what did you use for bridle line?
@AndreBandarra1

just 10mm webbing I think
Really like the video, cool project. But please note never do the line connection this way on a real paraglider.
Would it have worked if you used a cnc lazer to cut it or would the effect the integrity of the cloth

@AndreBandarra1

Ahah, I'm just a hobbyist. Because it's single skin all the seams are exposed and not hard to sew. "Normal" double skin paragliders you have that last cell problem. It will be something to tackle in the future :)

@@AndreBandarra1 I was surprised to discover you could do that. I tried to convert a dual line parafoil kite into a quad line kite just to get some idea of what it feels like to hold it steady in wind and rotor. I never finished the conversion because I lack kite building skills and confidence.
Great video, but there has to be a follow up: Make this radio controlled. You two clearly invested a lot of time into this project, but the demonstration at the end felt a little bit short. I left the video longing for more, and I think making an rc version would be a great addition.

Great work and inspiration for future inventors and curious pilots. Your channel is full of good and valuable information, I really appreciate your videos, your work and the way you share it. I am paragliding since 21 years ago. Just one important small detail about the way it looks like you attach the line loops to the attachment points to the wing on minute 8:20: that is not the way to do it. It can cause the lines to brake and it was the mistake that cause that pilot named Kiwi to have a massive failure cascade on his wing, and Ozone making a report after investigation. I am just pointing out in case someone is thinking on changing his line set and thinking that this video is showing the way to do so. Here the full report: xcmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Accident-Investigation-Nevada-2020-2.pdf The rest of your video is just GREAT. My deepest respect Andre!!

so, what are the secrets? just regular single skin manufacturing techniques, actually pretty amateurish... my eyes just drop when I saw you marking with a permanent marker ... that is a sin (Pilot color eno for instance ...). Otherwise, it seems to work, good job, but no information. I suggest adding two lines and giving it a try as a stunt kite (although bridle might not work for that you can always give it a try! ;O)
