Dude I started Spaced this morning. Thank you This show rocks
Ok I watched the whole video!! Shaun of the dead was filmed in my town in London back in 2003. The whole place was shut down for a few weeks! They filmed the vinyl record scene in my uncles back garden in Nelson road.

If you ever find that BATMAN record in his hedge, please let me know! I f***ing love that album!
Black Adder, Monty Python, Red Dwarf, and Young Ones are my favorite British comedy shows. I think that I had a bit of an advantage when it comes to understanding accents. My father is a speech pathologist, so I was exposed to people speaking " differently " from a young age. Oh , yeah my great grandmother from Italy spoke the most broken English ever. Think Father Guido Sarducci × 1,000.
It's odd that you didn't get along with STEPTOE & SON and THE OFFICE, old Junkbuddy, as these shows were the ORIGINAL versions that SANFORD & SON and THE AMERICAN OFFICE were developed from! As for BENNY HILL, I've never understood it's popularity in the US, as in the UK it's considered something of a national embarrassment! Regarding the accent, it took me months to get used to Georgian, but the Mrs and I now love it when you go on a rant and shout *"@$$-ho'e!"* Glad you're enjoying B7! How about a book review? Keep up the great work, Junkman! 4-LOM 4-LIFE!
I saw that kid crying clip in The People versus George Lucas and wondered where it was from. Later, upon seeing this series, thankfully... finally... I saw it.
Did you notice that the end of one of the episodes, when they go off in the van to look for the landlady, is a shot for shot duplicate of the end of Empire Strikes Back?
UK comedy can be basiclly broken down into three camps, there is the BAC, the transition and AAC - you had the BAC which is the Before Alternative Comedy from the late 40`s to dying out in the early 80`s and this can include Benny Hill and other comedians who did the classic seaside postcard risque comedy, the my motherinlaw is so fat/ugly/domineering/dead jokes, the Englishman, Scottish man and Irish man jokes and casual racist jokes. Then there was the transition period in the late 70`s, 80`s & early 90`s where you had stuff like `Not the nine o`clock news`, Kenny Everett and `Blackadder as well as other comedians who started doing alternative comedy which was more politically and socially aware. Finally you have the AAC stuff which is After Alternative Comedy which covers almost all of the 2000`s As for suggestions then my personnal favs include `this is Jinsy` - `The League of Gentleman` - `Inside number 9` - `Psychoville` - `Big Train` - `Catterick` - `Garth Marenghi's darkplace` - `Man to Man with Dean Learner` and that does not include the greats such as `The Day Today`, `Brasseye`, `jam` and the various Alan Partridge series.....and that is without even mentioning `Young ones`, `Filthy Rich and Catflap` and my all time #1 `Bottom`

Well put couldn't agree more mate.
Glad to see I'm not alone in being a fan of this awesome show that basically led to the Cornetto Trilogy
A great show. Fact. One of the extras on the DVD's for both seasons, is the 'Homage-Ometer' which, when enabled, puts on screen information about pop culture references that are used. And there are a lot. The actor Peter Serefinowicz appears as Tim's arch enemy, Duane Banzie. Serafinowicz was the voice of Darth Maul in 'The Phantom Menace', and in one episode of 'Spaced', finds Tim's house keys, and says Darth Maul's "Now we shall have our revenge" line. It was a show that made an unapolagetic geek like me very happy indeed. Still does. Favourite character? Tyres, the courier, especially when he goes 'Full disco...' Always worth watching right to the end of the credits - usually a little cut scene there, long before Marvel were doing them. Glad you enjoyed it. Do you like the movie 'Hot Fuzz'? That's Pegg/Frost/Wright, too. And bloody funny.
loved that you said that they should not do a u s version.it reminds me they tried to do a u s version of red dwarf and hat didnt work. some things are fine as they are. sounds like a fun series i should check out,

There are actually 2 American Red Dwarf pilots with different actors. One one them has Terry Ferrell (Dax DS9) as the cat. The other has Hinton Battle (3 time Tony winner) as the cat.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. As a brit this is my favourite TV series of all time. Its tradition to watch this, black books and red dwarf
Spa ed is awesome, I grew up with British humour, we are still under the British monarcy so that is what we saw alot down under. You know that Simon Pegg was in The Force Awakens right? Cheers J.M🍻👍🏻

Australia, new Zealand, Canada, America, and Britain. We're all part of the anglo sphere so should be getting each other's comedy. After all, we are the same people, kinda.
Great review dude...You are so right about some USA series going on for too long The big bang theory being a prime example
Benny Hill was a comedy genius. I don't care what you say. lol. Shaun is part of the Cornetto trilogy. The other two are Hot Fuzz, and The World's End. I've personally only ever seen Shaun, because I'm one of those hybrid geeks who likes his Sci-fi bloody, his Horror funny, and his Comedy brainy. Don't judge me because I'm different lol

Benny is a legend.
If you like Spaced, you should checkout Hyperdrive. Its a British Star Trek parody kinda like The Orville but with Nick Frost as the Captain
In the Office they spoke with more pronounced regional accents unlike Blake's 7 for example in which they had a more drama school refined accent, that's probably why it was easier to understand for non British people...
Glad you liked Spaced, remember when these first aired on Channel 4 here in UK, great slacker comedy, I would highly recommend another Simon Peg comedy series called Big Train, written by the Father Ted writers, the first series is awesome
Bought the dvd on the strength of this review, watched it over a few times absolutely brilliant writing thanks man...
Watching British shows is mildly surreal. It is similar but the slang used and the thick accents which can very greatly depending on where they are from really make it hard to clue into it takes a while but once you catch on they can be very entertaining . being from the great white north I grew up on a lot of the classic British shows.

Wait , so the dogs' bollocks is a good thing? Is that a fairly new way to indicate approval? I remember people saying "It's Bollocks!" , being the equivalent of our Yank favorite " It Sucks !"

@@funzjag If you just say bollocks it's like saying it's bull shit or something's bad. So for example. "Do you like the new star wars movie?" " No it's bollocks I hated it mate" "The original Star wars was the dog's bollocks" meaning they really really liked it. Having the dog's bollocks is something of pride, like it's on show. @@TeZXSpectrum Thanks for the explanation, I'd never heard that one. The word is actually a synonym for testicles, correct? I remember when I was in college " Are you taking the piss?" had to be explained to me. A fellow Yank that studied in the UK told me it was the equivalent of " Are you messing with me?"
Try Friday Night Dinner, most episodes start so gently and descend into hilarious chaos and another is Man Down, Greg Davies is the star of this show and his stand up comedy is amazing

Junkman ive always been amazed at how few people watched or even heard of Blake’s 7. The only way I got to watch it was on PBS way back in the 80’s. it was always one of my favorite shows.
I absolutely loved and love this show since I was a teen and found the episodes on TV and now since I binge it at least once a year. Also love Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz and The World's End... not so much Paul unfortunately but they can't all be gold. And it's not Marshas British accent that's the problem it's that she speaks with a mouth full of marbles. I grew up around alcoholics so I can understand mumble speak pretty well 😂

Spaced was a gem.
Good clip selection of "Spaced". Will be checking it out by this weekend as it looks GREAT, thank you much! Have you ever tried "Waiting for God"? Diana is the no-nonsense proactive menace and Tom is her senile friend from the apartment next door. It too has a mix of wild archetypes like B7 but isn't set in outer space... Not sure if you'd heard of it. The first three seasons were the best by far... it doesn't do much with scifi references but there is one to Doctor Who... Oh, B7 absolutely ruled - the mix of characters was so refreshing at the time, and still is. No remake could improve on it. Always been a fan of classic Doctor Who too. :)
Man, this was such a fantastic review! Gonna watch it now!
The only thing I can dislike about Spaced is it only ran for fourteen episodes. Same with The Office
