    I get that some players really like those mods, and you can play the game however you want, but one of the things I admire most about KSP is that it is a constructive experience that eschews violence. There is danger of course but as a whole KSP comes in peace. We need more of that in gaming.

    Imagine nuclear winters on Kerbin, and you have to rush to get as many kerbals to space habitats as fast as possible, and get a vehicle to carry them on a long interstellar trip. All because a competitor got angry and started a nuclear war. Idk how that would be done with mods, but I'm gonna love it if they figure out how to do it.

    The colonization and supply lines do sound like a game changer. They also sound similar to what RoverDude did in KSP1 with the WOLF parts in his MKS mod. Build depots, build supply routes between depots, never worry about supply or crew transfer flights again. Very handy. The game then becomes about exploration and expansion, not so much resource management.

    I'm actually running a fuel depot in my career save as I'm going hard into reuse and orbital refueling, but it can definitely be a pain having to refuel my depot all the time, and I imagine it will get worse when I create fuel depots on other bodies. I definitely think if someone else wants to go into this they either need to enjoy KSP like it's euro truck simulator 2, being a space trucker lol Or try to get mods like mechjeb or KOS (I wanna try out KOS but I feel sorta intimidated by it tbh)

    The Modular Kolonization stuff was awesome. Then a certain company acquired the IP, and "patches" came out routinely on a set schedule that broke some of the grand old mods like MKS. Kinda like what the same "purchaser" did with another title they had dominion over with respect to modding. Guys. Respect the modders. Or get dunked on. It's pretty simple. Of course, when did the C suite ever understand the basics?

    @@cheddar2648 Wtf are you talking about. MKS is alive and well, on the latest version of KSP. If you're gonna complain about an actual game development company taking control of KSP, at least come up with a complaint that a _Google search_ can't disprove.

    definitely believe what was suggested as the "delivery routes" @5:41 button in the VAB is actually the Flight Planner, so you can figure out how much delta V you need to get to your chosen destination

    It’s interesting to see in the new VAB footage I can see two new capsules that we haven’t seen before. It would be interesting to see an analysis of what they could be!

    there could be a voting system, or you have a period of, say, one year where you can timewarp freely, and then at the end of the year period, your game is paused until the next player completes their year period, then repeat.

    @@yourmanjimbo1302 That would make the "space race" concept kind of... impossible. It would become a game of just timewarping as fast as possible through flights to get ahead instead of increasing efficiency. Maybe that would be a possible setting but I don't think it would work as the default option

    I wonder if dedicated servers will be a thing. But I assume that heavily depends on how many players multiplayer can support. It would be interesting if entire economies could develop based on the different companies run by the players and the contracts they're chasing.

    Going to be very hard to have public servers given how the time acceleration works. I'm sure they'll come up with an elegant system for it, but I doubt it would work with public play with dozens of people.

    I'm kind of sad about of the removal of currency. Career mode was all I ever played and I spent a lot of time with the RP-1 mod. I kind of liked choosing contracts and making sure I had the right funds and parts ready for various launch windows. But I admit, currency was never well implemented in stock KSP. I would usually spam tourist missions around the mun and minmus until I had enough cash/science to do whatever I wanted beyond Kerbin.

    I think "currency" will still be in the game, just not the same way as the original. My take, with this emphasis on resources, is that Kerbin will have a set amount of resources coming in to the KSC at any given time, that allows you to build a certain amount of parts and tech. As you make more delivery routes that will expand your cap of each resource allowing for larger crafts and more advanced parts. So there won't be a set currency but more of multiple "currencies" that each contribute to what you can build and how big you can build it. -- note this is all my take on it and just theory.

    Yeah cash was pretty bad in ksp 1, with drills you can literally just afk for cash on kerbin

    My thoughts on the icons: The two cubes stacked with the arrows icon is move sub assembly. The next one might be a combine or toggle which sub assembly launches. and then the one with the ship and waypoint is maybe the distance map. I remember them talking about having a map so you can see how much DV you need to get to places and this may be that comparing the ship with different destinations so you don't have to go to the forums to look up the maps other people have made.

    Another thing seen in the VAB section are size 3 capsules and lander cans. I really felt these were missing from the original so I'm glad to see them.

    5:47 The button you guessed was settings seems to be the procedural parts screen, as it was toggled on when the procedural wings screen was present.

    6:43 The new KSC looks pretty interesting, I noticed 4 [possible] _landing_ pads next to the runway, as well as 2 structures on the shoreline. (boats?)

    There will be 4 launch pads, so players can launch 4 vehicles at the same time from the same KSC. That was already mentioned in one of my previous videos. Also, 2 very large runways. And yes, a boats dock is in there as well.

    I think a race mode that works like the fleet editor in Nebulous would be super fun. Build your racing craft for different cost/weight/tech level races and then see all the goofy creations people bring to the starting line. One guy brings a shiny cruiser with a high TWR, another brings a big brawler that just shoots the competition out of the sky with separation missles. Mad max meets Red Bull aerial racing

    I have a lot to do once KSP2 gets out. First I need to get my bearings in that new vehicle assembly building Second I need to recreate my iconic crafts. After all these years I pretty much know what I want right away, so a few launchers and couple rovers, planes, and hybrid roving-planes. Third is when I start having fun just exploring everywhere (with my usual limitation: I can land on a planet but no hopping. I need to get there with a rover !) Once my crafts are created and tested, then space race becomes far more interesting as it pits each other's design philosophies to the race. I will be more of a fan of cooperation tho. Bringing each-other's strengths together to accomplish really nice exploration. Getting the time to play together will prove the biggest challenges. I hope we get a lobby with free-join into games that are open as such. So If I'm running a game, maybe someone from the forum would drop in. I can see much friendships being developed that way. I'm fighting the itch to fire KSP1 so hard right now. February is so close, and yet so far... ;-)

    I think the first one that you thought had to do something with subassemblies is to set the root part. This is a really cool feature especially when launching a rover with a lander or whatever.

    The part that looks like a clock that you thought was an alarm clock. It looks like a restore/undo feature to me because there is an arrow that traces the edge of the clock CCW.

    I can't wait for this game to launch! I put nearly 2000 hours into the first game, including playing a game with all difficulty settings maxed out (only lost one kerbonaut so far). It will be interesting to see what the network / server setup is going to be for multiplayer?

    The first icon is to swtich between vertical (rocket) building mode, and horizontal (airplane) building mode not launching orientation

    it's possible the rocket with the waypoint icon is some sort of Delta-V map/calculator. personally that makes more sense to me than being related to supply routes simply because Delta V is more of a ship construction consideration and supply routes aren't something you're going to think about until flight time. unless you can build a new ship with new flight charactaristics and assign it to an existing route but at that point the game is almost playing itself for you which seems like not what you want and also an orders of magnitude more challenging feature to implement.

    Everytime I see pre-alpha footage, I notice a lot of clips have terrible frame rates. I hope this is addressed. I've played KSP on the PS4-pro and found it extrememly aggravating that any craft that neared a 250 piece piececount would severly impact the performance, driving my FR into the ground. I recently picked up a PC and will be playing KSP2 on it. Let's just hope for a bigger and brighter future where I can create colony ships without the annoying stutter.

    Developer here! (In general, not a KSP2 dev) They are probably running the game in debug mode, which allows memory inspection & live editing of the environment. The penalty however, is performance. They may not have what we call a “production” build yet, which is a version of the product that is running without debug mode.

    I heard that performance increase is usually a thing for late in development, because why optimize performance for a part if you aren't sure it's going to make it into the full game?

    At 3:37 you can see in the part selector thier is a small icon in the top left that represents size LG =large, Sm =small etcetera

    As far as I know pretty much anywhere. There will be special "base plates" you can put on the ground to create a level surface for launch pads or runways etc.

    Colonies could add a lot of cool interactions or missions. Imagine the colony plans a revolt and you have to quickly fly a negotiator there to settle the arguments

    Knowing humanity, I feel like fighter jet combat will become an important part of multiplayer. As will spaceship battles, which would be more fun to see

    Imagine if you're able to have an interplanetary war with your friends. You'd each have bases that you'd need to destroy, so you'd build fleets of warcrafts and have missile defense systems on the ground to shoot at incoming ships. If that's not in the game, then I'm sure someone will make mods for it. Good lord I'm excited

    maybe the zigzag button is to plan the mission ahead of launch. To me that is one of the things missing in current KSP. When launching to different planet, and then on arrival figuring out you don't have enough dV to orbit... Also, if we can plan a mission and we can do automated delivery routes. Maybe we can make the pilot execute the plan. Based on experience the pilot executes the plan better (or worse).

    The resources feel like something to actually do other than to touch-plant-a-flag-and-go. I hope they eventually provide some content to the game in terms of exploration instead of just having a lot of planet-wide deserts.

    I don't know how the ressource system will work but I would actually like for money to stay. For me the career mode in KSP 1 is at a nice balance of "Do what you want" and "Arthur! We need more money!"

    Oh, don’t worry, now, as a constraint, you’ll need some predetermined amounts of wood, stone, and tools. You put a satellite for a company, it pays in food and iron.

    Id like to run though the space race from the beginning to future with a buddy of mine, starting from scratch and working your way up (with some creative libertys of sabotage like launching a projectile while my buddy trys to make a launch to the moon to get me a head start or to allow me to catch up, some form of a economy or resources to make it so you can't pump out tons of rockets early game, so its not sabotage spamming, like having to decide if launching your rocket to the moon, or to stop you opponent from getting there first) Sorry for the long explanation

    I think the first icon under what you called the symmetry section is for rotation, and the second is for symmetry. It needs one button for rotation, you know?

    i'm glad they added the RCS on the shuttle cockpit, it's always a pain to try and re-create the rcs while looking good and being functional.

    We still haven't gotten any info on real fuels. I hope it will come with the resource update on the roadmap but they haven't said anything on it yet. In the fotage they have given us we only see LF and OX.

    I don't think we will see different fuels for the same type of engine, it will make the game needlessly complex, but since will be getting new and exotic engines will also get new fuels for those engines

    There was one shot a few dev blogs ago of the VAB where the mouse briefly passed over the Swivel engine and the description said it was methalox, so I'm pretty sure that's still the goal

    Building colonies as different agencies is gonna be so cool. It's basically gonna be new KSCs all over a system, all belonging to different people, struggling for natural resources. When weapon mods come around, everything will scale up even further.

    Ideea for colonies: colonies can become big like cities and there should be colonies on kerbin that are the size of cities at the start of the game (not owned by any player)

    More and more KSP 1 mods are being put into KSP 2. The automated Rover thing that remembers your last "Mission" and repeats it is a KSP 1 mod.

    It also removes an unnecessary abstraction, and will make the game easier to balance. No need to worry about how much something costs, just how much resources you need to make it. (The cost/resources balance has often been very abusable with things like EL which allow you to recover resources from items.)

    Most folks will want competitive multiplayer, but I have never had a problem with being the odd one out. I want to play cooperatively. Imagine a whole weekend with a team establishing a new base in a distant system. Talk about an excuse for a weekend with the guys! (Or girls or etc., I just personally like the idea of eating pizza and crashing rockets with the guys. )

    I can only hope that the game is stable enough to play without quicksaves. Doing multiplayer and having to revert due to kraken issues would be a real drag.

    1:21 I don't think multiplayer is the final instalment to KSP 2 it looks like there are more panels after multiplayer but it is slightly blurred so I think they have more plans to add later after multiplayer and it might be more planets or moons

    They've said that KSP 2 will be a platform that will be supported for about 10 years. The road map is just to finish the core product. Then I expect more updates adding new things and probably tweaking or revising the older parts of the game as time goes by.
