However, there are potential moral / ethical issues here: The (sole) developer is a Russian citizen living in Russia. This raises two issues: 1) The developer cannot easily receive the funds payed to Steam for the game. 2) To the degree that the developer *can* receive funds, those funds will be taxed by Russia and will therefore fund the war in the Ukraine. Different people will certainly evaluate how important this is, of course.

What a shame this whole KSP 2 debacle has been. It truly saddens me. I have been playing KSP1 since I was in like 7th grade. I am now a 25 yo aerospace engineering student in university. I remember watching Scott Manley's tutorials to figure out how to get to orbit. I have seen KSP grow from an early access game into what it is today, and when I saw there was going to be a KSP2, I basically lost my mind in excitement and anticipation. I literally had to force myself to ignore it until it was released so I could function like a normal human being. And then, years later, I saw the news, it was being released in less than a month. At the time, I assumed it was going to be a full release with interstellar travel, a higher performance ceiling, colonies, and all the stuff that had been announced years ago. I then see that the system requirements are lightyears ahead of what my little system could handle, and then things started to go downhill from there. I realized it wasn't going to be a full release, and that we weren't even getting science on release. I then watched the event hosted at the ESA with all the youtubers, and I realized very quickly that whatever it is we were getting was not KSP2, but some.... I don't even know what, a downgrade with better graphics? And like most of you if I had to wager, after the game was released, my heart sank because all the reviews started coming in, and it was all bad. And then came the silence from the devs and the gaslighting. And only nearly a year later did we get the for science update. But I was hoping that the science update and the progress made since release was indication that at least we were headed in the right direction and that eventually the devs would come through and deliver. But here we are now, and it's looking unlikely that we will ever see KSP2 in the state we had all hoped for for years before release. But who knows. Maybe some other publisher will pick it up and make it into something. I have lost all confidence in the dev team and publisher to come through with KSP2, and I think it's time we finally lay KSP2 to rest, for now.

If you've never played modded KSP1, there are a couple things you should know. I'll start off with the cons. For one, if you load a couple dozen mods, you'll end up having to wait a solid 5 minutes for the game to load on startup if not more depending on your system. You might also run into some compatibility issues and bugs, but it's been rare in my experience. And performance issues with larger rockets are slightly worse, but not by much. The pros on the other hand. Where do I even start. If you've never played modded KSP, you will find that with the right mods, it is a completely different game entirely. Entire energy and thermal systems for fusion and fission reactors. Interstellar propulsion, new solar systems, new planets, a practically infinite tech tree with hundreds of new parts. An new world of resources and resource gathering. You want fuel for your new interstellar nuclear engine? Either pay 8 million credits to fill the tank or setup a harvesting and processing facility on the mun to mine and refine the fuel you need. Orbital construction, setting up resource transfer routes (you have to fly a rocket with a storage module on it to the desired station or location, the game will calculate the amount of fuel you used and will use it as the cost for transferring however many resources that storage module could hold from A to B). And those are just the parts mods. There are mods that connect your game to a website that can give you live data on your ship, like a command center of sorts. Docking assists, and of course mechjeb for a couple dozen functionality and info additions such as comprehensive delta V, suicide burn calculations, a comprehensive transfer planner, autopilot, automatic rendezvous (don't recommend, very inefficient and doesn't always work). The sky is the limit (and your FPS). And then there are of course mods like RP1, where you get an entirely overhauled experience based on the history of rocketry. KSP1 with mods is an entirely new universe it is hard to come back from once you've stepped into it. Really the biggest downsize is that your ideas will inevitably expand past the game's ability to handle them. Sending a colony mission to Jool to setup resource gathering and habitation, refueling, processing, and all that, can require massive ships with sometimes thousands of parts, and the game simply isn't equipped to handle that kind of volume. But minimizing part count by using larger parts, destroying unnecessary parts after orbital assembly, and minimizing the number of subassemblies assembled via docking ports can help immensely. I wholeheartedly recommend you embark on the journey that is modded KSP1, may the Kraken be forgiving and your Kerbals brave. Don't overwhelm yourself at first. Start off with some basic mods and work from there. Learn how the mods work in sandbox mode. Most of all though, have fun and enjoy the massively expanded KSP universe.

I wonder if it is possible to implement harvesters new rigid wobble system into KSP1, as a mod. it would be a rather deep integrating mod, but it should work. docked spaceships could still be treated as 2 different pieces connected by physX-joints, but it would make space stations almost trivially simple. instead of 200 parts, there are 10 parts.

I'd also say it has the most comprehensive multilayer experience with the focus on racing of course but also many fun minigames. My favourite being the king of the hill map. Also, anyone who is on console might as well ignore the others (incl KSP ;_;)as trailmakers is the only one with a not just decent, but very good console experience!

One thing I like about Juno is that droods run around much quicker than kerbals. :) They can pull things too; they have a tether feature; it's basically a rope. And yeah, I _love_ the orientation gizmo! KSP 1, yeah! :D I was sure it would be on the list. I was a latecomer to most of your videos, SZ, because I hardly watched KZread at all until 2021 or 2. I have issues with motion sickness and overstimulation. One day, I was browsing KerbalX, clicked on Hazard-ish's Eve polar base video, and was totally blown away! I watched a few more of his, then KZread introduced me to Matt Lowne and I realised I can watch some creators' videos without feeling too bad. Before I knew what was happening, watching KSP channels was taking time away from playing the game! 😂 I think you were the 3rd KSP KZreadr I watched, SZ. The first of your videos I saw was about the Minmus refueling base. ISRU is a major interest of mine; all my KSP play was focused around it, so I was delighted to find it. Then there was FRAAAAAAAANZ NEEEEEEEEEDS FYOOOOOOOOOOL!!! That was hilarious even if it did set off my issues. I'm glad I watched it once. The Ozymandias series took me to other worlds. :) Invictus had higher-quality production of course, and was good to watch, though it felt a little rushed becuase it wasn't a whole series. Complex Duna missions were fascinating; I've rewatched some several times. The giant rover with the hammer was funny. :) The career play-throughs I don't watch because they're too slow-paced. I don't watch anybody's career playthroughs or livestreams for the same reason.

So if you make a mistake in one mission and end up losing all your fighters, you'll need to build them up again for the next mission, you don't get any freebie units. There's a campaign, a skirmish mode against AI, and a roguelike mode.

Flyout is simply insane. If you look around KZread, you will find guys like Messier82, who had this game when ist wasn't even out yet and who will work straight weeks (while studying in University on the side of course) on a single aircraft and get it down to designing complete interiors. You can make a lot with this game, but only if you put the hours and days in to learn the very barebones UI and navigate around some mean bugs. It's a must have for people who eventually want to build aircraft for a living. And massive aviation nerds too.

Despite the flaws, KSP is the ultimate space game. Turning on advanced tweakables and using auto strut fixes the wobbly rockets, and personally even with struts the game is much better than KSP2. The only real issues that needed to be worked on for KSP is stability and load times. It's a 9/10 game with lots of content, including tons of mods. Fix the optimization and bring the graphics up to date without the mods and it would be an easy 10/10. We didn't really even need a KSP2, but then again I don't know how hard it be to fix the code in KSP, which is the only real issue.

I was trying to wait for Ksp 2 to have interstellar travel before I bought it. In the past year (over a year) I have decided to build a shuttle system between every planet in the game. I am still working on it but I have made a fair amount missions to Duna, Moho, eve and a couple to Jool and after 6 years of owning the game itself, I still find the game a fun and enjoyable experience.

Juno on mobile is really surprisingly good. I was sure that it simply would be too difficult to fly a rocket to orbit using a touch interface, but I was quite wrong. The heading and pitch gizmos are very usable. It feels like playing KSP 1 with Procedural Parts mods and is by far my favourite mobile title of recent years. I probably wouldnt choose it over KSP1 for desktop play, but since its the only mobile equivalent, it scratches the itch when on the move.

Juno looks nice, but I'm back to KSP, the original ;) . I've fine tuned the graphics with EVE, Parallax and scatterer (and a ton of other nice mods), and I was surprised at how good it's running... not to mention how complete the game is. Too bad not enough ppl bought KSP2 to make it a priority for the publisher, as I would have loved to see interstellar and colonies in KSP. The little that worked in KSP2 gave me hope, but I guess it was not to be. But I must say that KSP1 is still able to captivate me after 1200 hours, so I can most definitely live with how things turned out. Luckily for me I discovered KSP1 very late, so it's still quite fresh for me. Tons of missions I have not done yet... And to those that saved their money: Good for you! But can't say I'm feeling the loss economically, although I feel like the scammers finally got me. How they can go from "The funding is not going away", to "Oh, the whole company shut down" without any warning, is kind of mindboggling to say the least. Cheers, and thanks for a very good channel @ShadowZone

I never left KSP 1. I had KSP 2 on my Steam Wishlist, but by the time I had gotten to buying it I saw it had a bunch of bad reviews. Knowing that Take Two released it I pretty much guessed what had happened - rush to market. The fact that Take Two is circling the drain makes that make more sense - they needed a quick injection of cash from somewhere. I held off for a bit, expecting the developers to improve it and resolve the bugs. I never left KSP though, and it has such a rich modding community many of the bugs and limitations can be addressed. There is still the occasional appearance from the Kraken when everything goes to sh!t, but it's still a very fun game. As a programmer I love KOS :D Best mod ever. I hate having to dock - I fire up KOS and load up my docking program. I click on the dock I want, and viola I'm docked a few minutes later. I do the same for orbital insertion and interception.

I began not so far ago KSP RP-1, which is a totally new game, much more complex and interesting. You will learn a lot in rocket history and struggle, understand why USSR win the first space race, and with some mod the game is absolutely gorgeous, letting you see the real textures of the planets. Another entry is X-Plane. It's a realistic airplane game, but you have an editor to create your own aircraft. But it is much more complex, even from flyout, it's literally a real airplane designer, with a lot of procedural tweaks. But if you are not an aerospace engineer it is almost impossible to create a plane from scratch, it's the endgame of plane sandbox

Restarted in KSP1 yesterday. Haven't played either almost a year. Backed Blackrack for his volumetric clouds, plus Parallax & Scatterer and some other visual mods. By the Kraken is it impressive visually. I didn't expect the thunderstorms! I kept stopping just to admire the view. I'm sad we lost a refactored codebase, out-of-box multiplayer, etc. But KSP1 still has effectively unlimited life left in it with the increasable modding community. Seriously, throw your money towards passionate mod creators like Blackrack, instead of these corporate early access cashgrabs.

Not gonna lie, Juno: New Origins is all I need. In fact since I bought J:NO, I never even launched KSP again. From the engineering perspective it is miles ahead of either KSP version, the procedural modeling of all parts including engines cannot be beaten by the LEGO nature of the KSP vehicle editor. And it is optimised to the point I can run 3000 part craft on my phone while in KSP the PC sh1ts itself when partcount hits three digits.
