It’s good to clarify that while yes, the Thunder Warriors were exterminated after their final major battle. They had devolved to such a point where genetic, physical and mental breakdowns were very present, and those that weren’t imploding were so violent that they would have all sworn allegiance to Khorne sooner or later, especially once the less bloody part of forging an Imperium really kicks in.

The gene seed degradation and mutations happened over the course of ten millennia and even then only affects a relatively small portion of space marines, and rarely in such terrible ways. The Thunder Warriors were actually imploding, exploding, melting and having their organs shutting down, and this was a frequent and horrifying occurrence. And it was happening to all of them.

There was an official "Armour through the ages" set that included all the marks of power armour from 8 all the way back to the Thunder Armour. Though it only came with one of each.

Yeah. The emperor finished his new space marines (specifically the super young dark angels) and Custodes to kill any remaining thunder warriors after the last battle on earth was won. The thunder warriors for the most part never left terra unless they survived long enough.

You should go over the suped up Ogryn’s that were used to counter chaos space marines during the Horus heresy. Despite being ogryns, those dudes were no joke and were capable of tearing the limbs off of a space marine with little difficulty if I recall correctly and were very effective against said chaos marines

Incorrect. The mk.1 ceased to see use after the battle for mount arrarat. This is the official point where the thunder warriors were " wiped out". The only further use was when the custodes had to track down and slay the few survivors who had taken refuge with the unawares lord militant of the Era. Mars and Luna only saw mk.2 and later boots.

There were many types of pre-Imperial power armor around on Terra during the unification wars though all were presumably uncommon. The various Techno Barbarians themselves almost certainly never used "Thunder Armor" as it was only semi powered and its great weight prevented anyone but the most heavily augmented (like the Thunder Warriors) from using it.

Although power armour pre-dated even the Age of Strife, "Thunder Armour" was ubiquitous with the Emperor's forces stripping conquered foes armouries and even their dead to replenish his forces power armour. The main difference being Thunder Warriors (and Astartes) had the Emperor's thunderbolt and lightning insignia emblazoned on their armour.

I think the success of the Emperors takeover of earth, Luna, and Mars can be attributed more to the Thunder Warriors themselves than to their armor, but it certainly helped. I doubt they would have done nearly as well without it.

The Emperor didn't 'take' Mars. He knew that he couldn't possible match Mars' Military at that early stage without depleting his own army before they had a chance to leave the Terran system (Let's not forget they had Knights, Titans, Legio Cybernetica, Ordo Reductor and Skitarii Legions. There is a Reason The Emperor made a treaty with Mars and allowed them to remain a Religious Technocracy withing his secular Imperium.

Space Marine: These new suits are amazing! They filter our body waste into edible food amd water. Other Space Marine: No...they....they don't....

The mark III and IV helmets look the best but the VIII chest makes them looks beast mode

Luna has an atmosphere in M31. It is a key piece of background that those SM got the name Luna Wolves in honour of this accomplishment. They later changed their name to the Sons of Horus (and eventually the Black Legion).

He did ally with them. The Martian military was way too strong for Terra to handle without catastrophic losses. The Emperor was _forced_ into diplomacy.

Crazy and random kind of fact: In the first book of the Dark Imperium when Felix is leading an assault on a death guard held hive city they for whatever fucking reason charged at the fortified Death Guard position outside the hive. There was this deep and just mucky mud pit that for whatever reason the Ultramarines attempted to charge through. It was so bad that Felix sank below the surface and his power pack couldn't vent the heat in the power pack and it started to red line. By some chance (Ultramarines, Orkz think blue is lucky...God damn Matt ward) Felix gets scooped up by a Dreadnaught and pulled out. It honestly was a bad assault but they pushed through. Their librarian also protected them from corruption during that moment.

You're talking about Marines when Mars had Titans and super-heavy tanks 🤷‍♂️ Compared to that equipment, a Space Marine is no different from a regular Imperial Guardsman - they'd both get 1-tapped.

Only Astartes Power Armour is derived from Thunder Armour. Power armour hails from the Dark Age of Technology as even the Auretian Technocracy (a highly advanced human society lost since Old Night) had human-sized power armour of a similar design to Astartes Mk IV Maximus used by the Brotherhood. In M41 there are Inquisitors, Techpriests, Sisters of Battle and more that wear power armour not derived from Thunder Armour.

I'm pretty sure that the thunder armor wasn't used by other warlords. The other warlords had definitely other types of archeotech and gene bulked and other warriors that were in equal to thunder warriors. But original Thunder armor was mainly just the chestplate and arms that were powered as melee was what the thunder warriors got into most. The Greaves were anything from basic leather to powered by the reactor. It could not have been used by other factions as the armor was too large for anyone either than a thunder warrior. Custodes had custom auromite armor.

The armour of the enhanced warriors (War-Wights, Ironsides, etc) of other Techno-Barbarian Warlords was also fundamentally the same as that of the Thunder Warriors, with only cosmetic differences. The Emperor's armourers would strip enemy dead and conquered enemy armouries of their power armour to replenish the Thunder Warriors.

Power armour its self I thought was from STC's, Caliban knights had power armour just not as sophisticated and the Auretian Technocracy also had power armour very similar to The Sons of Horus.

Not good for long term wars, mental unstability, die quickly, cant teach newer generations and are pretty stupid since they cant stay as a formation for long. Basically they are strong but dumb since they re only meant to conquer terra, which only has gangs with high tech, compared to current ones who are weaker but way smarter and versatile

The Thunder Warriors were easily as violent as the post-heresy world eaters, and significantly more physically unstable. Not ideal for a conquering army that intends to rule instaed of destroy.

Plus they were stronger than space Marines better at fighting one-on-one than space Marines felt no pain compared to space Marines and I think their armor was a little more durable and heavy duty 🤔
