Space Engineers Survival (Episode 1) - A Cold New Start! [2024]
Ойындар
Welcome to Space Engineers Survival 2024! We've crash landed on a desolate freezing planet with almost nothing to our name. We've got no way to leave and there are enemies flying all around us. Will we be able to get back on our feet and build a base here?

I like how the drill's ore detector conveniently tells you that there's ice nearby.

15:49 and 37:31 "Mi" is not on periodic table and short for Magnesium, it is Mg lol like on a first GPS you put with Silicon ;D If someone is interested, here are all the resources we use in vanilla space engineers: Fe - Ferrum (Iron) *** The name "Ferrum" comes from the Latin word for iron. It is an ancient name that has been used for centuries. *** Si - Silicon *** The name "Silicon" comes from the Latin word "silex," meaning flint or hard stone. It reflects the hard and brittle nature of the element. *** Ni - Nickel *** Name comes from German word "Kupfernickel", which translated means "Devil's Copper" Co - Cobalt *** The name "Cobalt" is believed to come from the German word "kobold," meaning goblin or evil spirit. Miners in the 16th century encountered this metal while extracting other ores, and the difficult nature of extracting useful metal from it was likened to the tricks of a mischievous goblin. *** Mg - Magnesium *** The name "Magnesium" is derived from Magnesia, a region in Thessaly, Greece, where a mineral called magnesia alba (now known as magnesite) was first discovered. *** Ag - Argentum (Silver) *** The name "Argentum" is the Latin word for silver. It has been used since ancient times, reflecting the historical importance and value of silver. *** Au - Aurum (Gold) *** The name "Aurum" is the Latin word for gold. It has been used for centuries to represent this precious metal. *** Pt - Platinum *** The name "Platinum" is derived from the Spanish word "platina," meaning "little silver." Spanish explorers initially encountered platinum in South America. *** U - Uranium *** The name "Uranium" is derived from the planet Uranus, which was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel. The element was named in honor of the newly discovered planet. *** Hope it helps a little :D

I don't know why I find this funny, but argent also means money in French. I learned that because on one of my silver coins it says "1 Oz. Argent Pur." A girl I was with at the time spoke French and asked: "Why does it say pure money on that coin???" when she saw it.😆
Opening trailer was AWSOME, love the work you put into your vids!

Being on an ice planet, it would only make sense to build a decently sized hydrogen engine setup for power
Fe: Ferrum (Iron) Ni: Nigrum (Nickel) Si: Silicium (Silicon) Mg: Magnesium Co: Cobaltum (Cobalt) Au: Aurum (Gold) Ag: Argentum (Silver) Pt: Platinum U: Uranium 25:00 to place blocks under others with such tight clearance, local grid align mode can help. Press B a couple times until you get it.

I know you are well past this point by now, but for those that aren’t, the moment you get the basic assembler up and running, disassemble your T0 hand drill and upgrade to a T1, it only takes the basic resources, but it’s better then T0
For wind turbines either one needs to be 9 blocks up, and 9 blocks away from eachother. To be 100%
A idea, if there is one of the faction ships flying nearby, maybe a spectator cam peek at what's going on outside in the void before the outro. I'm always curious what they look like before they get torn to bits. ❤️
Just a little tip: You can type /gps [name] (e.g. "/gps Mg" will give you a marker named "Mg") in chat to get a GPS marker at your current location. A little faster than using the menu. I like to use a period for boulders and an underscore for subsurface e.g. /gps .Mg would be a boulder of magniesium and /gps _Mg would be and underground deposit.
ngl, that intro was awesome
Start setting up for massive ice removal above other resources and storing the ice for the start of your hydro generators.

Yay good to see you back in my reccommandations man! This series looks like it's gonna be awesome Oh, and btw, Au is Aurum Ag is Argentum Fe is Ferrum (you are correct) And there is one of your magnesium deposits you named Mi instead of Mg
Yay, a new moon start! Fun fact, if you launch any object straight up from the surface of any vanilla moon at about 90m/s, that is sufficient velocity to escape its gravity and reach space. It is actually quite easy to build a mechanical contraption that can propel arbitrarily heavy cargo or newly built ships into space, without requiring thrusters 😉 safe way = pistons, crazy way = rotor crane that gradually spins up to speed and then releases at the exact correct instant with a script. just a thought, in case a space elevator sounds like too much work or too boring 😁

Very entertaining. Just a small advice : when you do mining trip, you should leave the bottles, that's about 20% of your carring capacity gone with them
Thank you for the new series mate, you got me into Space Engineers a few years ago with the escape from Pertam series and I have been playing it ever since. So again, thanks for the new series and great video as per usual. Cheers mate.
I love how you manage to just do it so well
When you have two ice markers at the same time from your drill sensor, one is terrain ice and the other is ore ice. You can only get 3 ore types per vanilla deposit, so the silicon magnesium deposit is actually a silicon, magnesium, and ice deposit. You'll often encounter the same situation in snowy areas and frozen lakes.
Just the opening alone was brilliant and i cant wait for the next episode. -no pressure :)
This inspires me to start my own play-through! Also, it would be really cool to jump on a server some time and play; I have been watching your vids for years now!!!
Hey bud, ive done this start so many times, but with the basic starter ship, and i have it down to just over an hour to get set up with a fully functional base. Need to be able to fly to do it, as the trade stations in orbit is the only way to get going, that and the random box drops. LOL. Its a tough start but then as you get up and running, its like any other start. Hope you enjoy and have fun with it.
just FYI, had you switched to local grid alignment (default B button) you could have easily placed the block under the others at the 25:00 mark. Helpful to know when using things like AwwScrap mod. Lots of great SE content, so I'm a bit delayed in commenting
I feel like I would love this game if I was able to learn the controls and how to actually play it someday this will probably be one of my favorite games
That start was absolutely nuts.
Man This is amazing I Loved the starting cinematic.
im so excited for this new series
europa was always a nice change of pace instead of having a relaxing start to a fast paced run for basic needs unless you meet oblivion when the batteries ran dry on the lander XD good times :)

Glad to see a new series with and updated mod list for 2024, since a lot of mods dont keep updated (Because Keen keeps releasing useless cosmetic DLCs). Love the 40+ minute format, hoping to see more than 1 video a week 🤣
You could add the ‘build and repair’ to act as a second hand for welding and grinding. You deserve at least one NCP helper! Also it can help keep things repaired or assist in their building allowing you to focus mor on the design. And a side-note, maybe you should put a mini-survival pod underground as a worst case fall back!

There are actually tiny specs of stone on Europa. Patches of a couple around 5 meters size. But you have to look for those from up high. They come in groups.

The symbols for the elements on the periodic table come from their latin names! :D While most elements have kept their latin names given when they were discoverted all the way to today, several elements have common names that are completely different: (From the ores found in SE): Iron - Fe - Ferrum (My username is based on this one) Gold - Au - Aurum Silver - Ag - Argentium (Others): Lead - Pb - Plumbum Sodium - Na - Natrium Potassium - K - Kalium Copper - Cu - Cuprum Tin - Sn - Stannum Antimony - Sb - Stibium Tungsten - W - Wolfram Murcury - Hg - Hydrargyrum

Hell of a intro
New sub. Loving this game Cant wait for new episodes
Great Intro.
Remember to search for an economic station, it's important on Europa
No atmosphere -> wind power works....yeeaaahhhh, seems about right.
silver and gold's latin words are aurum and argentum, hence the periodic table lettering
There is Platinum on the Earthlike planet's moon if you know where to look. It is found 100-150m beneath a Nickel ONLY deposit, if it's Ni with anything else - no plat. I don't think this is true for any other moon though.
Thankfully they changed how many medical components LG surv kits need to match SG :P
@Andrew - yep, Europa is ice through and through. However, I have found stone mixed in with some ore deposits. It is really rare, though. Anyone planning on Europa with food mods, beware! Also, Iron - Fe - Ferrum Silver - Ag - Argentum Gold - Au - Aurum And for those interested, Platinum means "unripened silver"
I can't believe you didn't eject!

Ha, you said “Nickelback” 😂
iv been playing this game for ages and it never occurred to me that the interior plates were cheaper to make to create a platform that's mega IQ. amazing vids!
Hah! Nickel back, there
Ag and Au are from the Latin names Argentum and Aurum and yes you were correct about iron being Ferrum
I am pretty sure stone covers the surface nodes.
You could have used a small hinge head and a small battery for the base
7:55 since the grid size is set to small, the wind turbines will not show their requirements, as they do not have a small counterpart. You can change this by pressing the big square under the X on the top right.

Do you need to have random encounters and cargo ships enabled? I only encounter ships in space but not on the ground?
Also, maybe put 2 small wind gens on each tower, just below the big ones, might help your output.
