@@galacticfederations This is what we always do with English players, whenever they do somthing decent we act like they are the best player ever. Then we are suprised when the team doesn’t win a trophy. We overrate all our players all the time.

The fact remains that the way the goals were scored is down to the talent in the team rather than Gareth. I sure he's helped a bit, but so far, it's heavily outweighed.

It definitely feels like a script. A very predictable one at that. Get easy opponents throughout the entire tournament and lose to the first decent team. Yup, we've seen this movie before.

No. He’ll prove his critics wrong if England wins. Coming second, and fourth, and fifth to eighth is his speciality.

We need to shoot from outside the box more often. We had 1 shot on target vs Netherlands in the 2nd half which we scored from. Creating clear chances in the box will be very very difficult vs Spain. Shooting from outside the box can surprise a gk & oppo defenders. Can get us a deflected goal, get a pen if it hits a defenders hand & will guarantee more shots in games....

Definitely! He's a genius man manager and the players love him! England have had the hardest route also with teams that are defensive and play for there life's whilst Spain played old giants that played like they were knackered,look at Mbappe, the only time a team tried to play against us the 1st half Dutch we battered them,we are bound to look bad against teams sat back! Definitely harder route and I'm sure all pros would think so

He has no tactical nous, got Middlesbrough relegated then got sacked, he has achieved nothing, Give this group to any top manager and they’d have won at least one tourno, Benefiting massively from being seeded, don’t have to play anyone hard then even in the knockouts, haven’t played France, Germany, Spain (until now), Portugal, Italy, Best team beaten is not a great Dutch side.

We would have played better if he had made changes earlier in matches, he has been lucky and got away with it so far, but sooner or later luck runs out and limitations get exposed. He doesnt learn from mistakes, so keeps repeating them. His defensive mindset will undo us against Spain, as they will be so busy attacking and us defending we wont have time to do attacks to score the goals we need. In short, it will be Italy and Croatia all over again, as he didnt learn from the first loss, so wont have learned from the second loss.

People still supporting Southgate are being blinded by the results. We have got this far through sheer luck and having the easiest draw ever, not from good football, tactics and picking the right players. This is the brutal truth of it. He has the most talented generation of players we have had for decades at his disposal at a time when the other nations arent the same force and power they used to be. Despite this and also playing low ranked teams all through the tournament, the football they have produced has been utterly woeful and we have had to rely on late goals and individual pieces of brilliance to save us. Just not acceptable. I'm falling asleep watching these England games. Why is this talented group of players not producing good football? It can only be the manager. Would this same group of players play at this standard under Pep Guardiola? It seems they have taken the same atrocious level of play from the pre tournament friendlies against Iceland etc into the Euro's. That Iceland game should have been a wake up call but it doesnt seem it has been. I don't want to hear about how organised Switzerland are etc, the teams England have played have low rankings for a reason. People getting excited about the first 45 mins against Holland. How many actual chances did we create? We scored only a pen that shouldn't have been awarded in the first place. It was on ok first half performance but nothing more. And then they were shite in the second half. Of course I want us to win the final but this luck just can't last especially playing against a quality team. England always lose as soon as they come up against teams of quality. It happens every single time. I don't expect it to be any different against Spain.

No way ! Not buying it . Southgate has not produced flashes of genius at the critical moments , he has not been laying down some voodoo ,magic by making substitutions very late on , who then promptly assist or score a tournament saving goal. He’s been lucky , end of story. He has the best England team ever , leaving excellent players on the bench whilst playing an out of form Kane , a right back at left back , and a left back in midfield who naturally did not shine and who was barely seen again , a man who offered , in the right set up , brilliant assists for nobody , because Kane was too deep, to slow and apparently uninterested. The players who could and would have got onto passes , Watkins, Toney , Gordon - were all virtually permanent fixtures on the bench . England have the players , and a weak link called Southgate. If he accepts the offer of an extension up to the World Cup - he’ll take an old , injured Harry Kane and play him there as well. Get an elite manager in , pay him what he wants , and I don’t care where he was born .

Shame that the scripts he writes are more akin to Madame Web than The Shawshank Redemption.

​@JezzadachezzaIt isn't. His poor management has already cost us against Croatia, Italy and France in recent tournaments. We would have won all of those games with a semi competent coach. In this tournament the performance levels have been extremely poor (football is entertainment and England have been dire bordering on unwatchable). We have relied on last minute goals and penalty shoots out to advance and have never looked convincing despite the fact that very few players from the teams we have played would make our squad. You are letting results cloud reality and it's going to come crashing down on you in a big way on Sunday when you meet a team with players comparable to England's who are properly coached. Southgate's result are historically good compared to other England managers but that's like being the skinniest person at weight watchers convention.

Kane on the pitch means Gareth is not serious at all. He is deluded to think that Spain's way of playing will allow England to improve upon the performance they showed against the likes of Slovakia or Switzerland, giving England a better chance of winning. England's problem is that there is no energy or structure in the football system, with loads of sideways and backwards passes slowing things right down, making it an ugly bore fest. If Spain are not two goals up by the end of the 1st half, then our chances improve but remain slim unless we release our top guns early.
