Won’t be anything like that. It will be a change in formation and some personnel, but the overly cautious approach, overall lack of instructions and complete inability to make any meaningful adjustment during the game will all 100% remain.

There are lots of things about southgates choices at this tournament that make you scratch your head, but the one I cannot understand at all is why on earth did he bring Luke Shaw to the euros and not another fit left back.

England's best hope is that being favourites will be too much for the Swiss, who perform at their best when they are underdogs. I really can't see Southgate changing much at all. His caution will overcome every other consideration, even the desperate need to win the match by being positive.

"if italy play a back 4 against us we will destroy them" said switzerlands manager before italy played a back 4 against them and he destroyed them. gareth is scared. they have a much better manager and we will need to get very very lucky again to beat them. england have now played really badly in 9 straight games. once again to win this game we need to rely on sheer player quality and luck. its pathetic and southgate is embarrasing us. the swiss are the favourites.

I'd rather see Foden on the bench and a prime Ivan Toney next to Kane than see Foden and Bellingham getting in each other's way in the number 10 spot. That's the bold decision that needs to be made imo. Foden can be premier league player of the season but Toney scores more goals for a worse team and Bellingham is probably an even better number 10. Plus Harry Kane needs someone to play off. I want to see a front 3 with Toney, Kane , and Palmer. Foden and Bellingham- choose one or the other and live with your decision.

England aren't a quick team but I can see TAA on the right coming in with Jude going forward from 8. Foden, Palmer and Kane. Kane could even do his coming deep movements that don't work on a 4231. Sometimes you attack better with less attackers.

Sounds silly but imo Kane needs to do a Rooney and drop into a deeper role for good. He doesnt have the legs to pull a line apart and would do better with his passing ability and arriving into the box later with space. Foden plays in that left half space because he's currently LW. But I'd say he's better on the right. Gareth just seems to ignore that because of where he plays for city - and that's imo because he can, not because it's his best position. But as it stands you're not wrong.

Your teams has won absolutely nothing for 50 years. No, you cannot and should not be blowing teams away. France with their world cups don't speak they way English fans speak with an empty trophy cabinet. Italy, the 2006 world cup winners and current Euro holders were dumped out and their fans took it with grace, knowing that other teams have improved over the years. Even Spain got dumped out of the world cup by Morrocco. It appears this English arrogance comes with ignorance of the game. England are a good team on paper, but they would have to prove themselves. They have no pedigree or right whatsoever to feel superior to anybody.

@@pompeyfitnessjames6298 by clearing almost everything, by being calm on the ball, by being in the right place at the right time, by making good tackles, by not giving the ball away, by doing everything we could hope and expect from a centerback like Guehi. he made a mistake against slovakia that cost us a goal but other than that he hasnt put a foot wrong. would you like to name 3 other england players that have barely put a foot wrong this tournement? pickford maybe. but thats it. Guehi has been our best player mainly because everyone else has been playing so badly and making mistakes. no hes never gonna be as good as JT or Rio but hes doing a bloody good job. hes even got the most important assist of the tournement for us.

I do not know why everyone is complaining. They are doing well. The teams we played had a very decent set up. Its easy for teams to sit back and make it hard to score. Yes the team isn't balanced but we doing good. We need to encourage the boys not be very critical of them. It's a tough competition

We have to remember the football in the Premier league varies which makes it difficult to have an English style of football. Where most other leagues play the basic football and play it really well. I'm gonna cut Southgate some slack and say that: it must be difficult to manage some of the highest paid players, most of whom are playing in the wealthiest league that attracts the best players around the world, and are playing for the country that invented football.
