They are basically playing 7 men behind the ball against teams who are set up to defend so most of the time you've got foden, kane, saka vs 10 there is literally no room to make space. I've been a defender of Southgate throughout is reign, but this is Sunday league level management.

Gallagher is the best option we've got in centre midfield to play with rice. He brings energy and balance. Don't abuse the players when it's Southgates fault for average England performances. The biggest room for improvement is down the left so why Gordon is not getting a go is baffling.

It is journalism at it's most ridiculous when a tournament comes around for England. We have won NOTHING since 1966 yet are the bookies favourites lol. Ex England players slating the team when they won NOTHING with England. Ex players who were not even good enough to play for England throwing a boot in. The England team comprises players who in their club teams are surrounded by foreign talent. The truth is that as a team, we are just not that impressive.

Honestly guys just forget these Euros. Nothing will change until Southgate leaves. He’s playing the wrong system and formation for starters. His tactics are play not to lose rather than play to win. Talking like Gallegher’s not played yet he’s played almost as many minutes as Trent. Both times he’s come on for Trent we’ve looked even worse hanging on in both games at the end.

Rice & Gallagher are two midfielders that can’t play passes forward we are screwed. We are going to play sideways football. We need a manioo to play passes through the lines it’s a joke.

Everyone can see there's a massive problem after the last 4 games, apart from Southgate! If he thinks the issues will be solved by swapping Gallagher for TAA we really have have got problems and will be coming home empty-handed yet again. The LB situation is totally on SG. Its not like Shaw is a Messi and its worth taking the risk. I would start Wharton alongside Rice. I would solve the LB situation by playing Walker there and he basically sits in alongside the centre backs. Play Gordan on the left as an out an out LW. Play TAA RB with licence to go forward and must not come inside. Sacrifice Saka for Foden who comes inside to form the second #10 alongside Belingham. Also gives us a box midefield. If Shaw ever becomes fit you can then flip it, Walker replaces TAA and Saka replaces Foden as RW.

I think given the fact that Trent has been horrendous in midfield in both games, it was inevitable that a proper midfielder came into the starting 11 to replace the imposter. Trent might be good at passing the ball, but it doesn’t make up for his disgraceful positional awareness or his lack of defensive capability.

Gallagher is the correct choice to replace Arnold in midfield.He will bring energy,fight and balance to the team.Mainoo and Wharton are decent young players but have no experience at this level. I'm amazed Gordon isn't starting as he's naturally left sided and we've lacked anything down that side.Southgate needs a performance on tuesday from the experienced players and if he dosn't get it,do the subs early enough for them to influence the game. Were in the last 16 already so hopefully we'll get some momentum to carry forward.The result matters as it'll decide where we finish and what difficulty of opponent we get.However as ususal we'll probably go out to the 1st decent team we meet and obviously we'll be looking for a new manager after the tournament. Any Sensible suggestions ??

The England team is not setup for success, Foden-Jude-Kane-Saka are incompatible… let me explain… Jude plays a very similar role to Kane… both have wingers that are good goal scorers and not natural wingers to put crosses in… this is Vini Jr, Rodrygo, Sane Gnabry… this means both Jude and Kane drop in at will and arrive late to the box… They both can’t play with a 9 or 10 in the same team. To have the team play correctly, you’d need to drop both Kane & Jude, play Watkins upfront, Palmer/Foden behind him, Saka/Bowen/Gordon/Eze on the wings. The problem is not necessarily in the midfield it’s the dysfunctional attack forcing the midfield to work extra time…

All the talk before the tournament was about taking luke shaw because he would be fit for the LATER ROUNDS. These boys said it themselves. Now all of a sudden he was supposed ti be availabke fir the group? Ridiculous punditry

Because Trent is the scapegoat. Forget the real issue of having no width or any runners in behind🤦🏻‍♂️ kane drops deep and short, wants ball to feet. Foden comes central and wants ball to feet. Trippier has offered nothing. Don’t even think he’s crossed a ball yet. Southgate took 1 natural LB that was injured and has been made of glass all season (shaw) Gordon was England’s best player in the last friendly before the tournament! Played left wing all season as well and Gareth decides to put foden there that’s hardly played there for city, if at all this season! 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve said it for the last 6+ years southgates out of his depth! Scotland had problems before they left for the tournament. So many injuries had to take back ups not what they wanted . They couldn't take there strongest squad.

Can’t wait for Wharton and Mainoo to be thrown in at a crucial moment, despite barely playing any minutes across the tournament, and then being made scapegoats. Southgate knows how to destroy talent and overhype mediocrity (Gallagher, Phillips, etc)
