U.S. Army Corp of Engineers with assistance from Valley Water held a public meeting on February 13, 2024 to gather community input regarding the USACE assessment of coastal flood risk along the South San Francisco Bay between Permanente Creek and Guadalupe Slough. Known as the South San Francisco Bay Shoreline Study, the study area includes portions of the cities of Mountain View, San Jose, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale. As part of it, the USACE is also looking for opportunities for ecosystem restoration and public access.
