I loved this. It brought back a way of living I experienced when I was young. The language, the discussions, striving for a life well-lived. One of the best radio plays I have encountered.

Good as this version is, for anyone who enjoys holtbys work there is, on you tube , a much closer adaptation in the 1974 TV version with some terrific acting . Well worth a watch.

@@Dawghome it's south riding 1974 on the AMT2.0 channel which is the best one to watch it's in 3 parts as it's the complete book version and very faithful to the book. Hope you enjoy.

I enjoyed this story very much. I did not enjoy the repetive musical interlude that played between chapters. The alderwoman, Mrs Beddows, was a heroine in the end. I was as torn apart as Miss Burton was, but thank God for Mrs Beddows
