True story: Last January I finally made the long pilgrimage to Casa Bonitia only to discover it was closed for renovations. I looked at my girlfriend and said "screw this, im going home" to which she replied "it's okay, they dont have good reviews on Yelp! anyways". You cant make this up.

I lived just a few blocks away from Casa Bonita as a kid and can remember when they built the place. My brothers and I thought how cool it was until our parents took us there to eat, that's when we discovered how crappy the food was. Sure hope Trey and Matt live up to their word on making the food better now that they own the place.

The real Casa Bonita was actually bought by Trey and Matt a few years ago.

Eric stough is nicknamed 'Budders' (derived from buddy), and the voice for butters in south park is just matt stone doing an unflattering impersonation of Eric stough to make fun of him

Coloradan here, Casa Bonita is exactly the way it's described. The food is not great, but the whole place has this cool 1980s mixed with Mexico sort of vibe. Lots of seating, but basically empty except for the areas around Black Bart's Cave and the cliff diving area. One of my highschool teachers had a job there, and one time he almost drowned because he fell in the water in a gorilla suit.

And this is just one of the many MANY reasons why watching all those beatings Cartman gets is so beyond satisfying.

I always said this in the past that this episode in South Park is memorable because this episode shows the in depth mind of a narcissist. One trait people don't talk about is how a narcissist reacts when someone denies something they want. In those cases, they feel that something is being taken away from them, but in reality they were never entitled to it to begin with. This was shown in the dream Cartman when Kyle "took his experience away from him". The more obvious trait of a narcissist is their need to use and manipulate people. They look at people as either assets or obstacles, and will manipulate both in different ways. Cartman knew he had his work cut out when it came to trying to manipulate Kyle, but he knew that Butters was an easier target. The last part shows another trait where they want to enjoy short term sanctification, even if it meant making others feel uncomfortable. This was shown in the car ride where it was obvious everyone was still disturbed by Butter's disappearance, but either Cartman didn't care or didn't even care to notice. I know all of this because growing up as a teenager throughout my years in college I dealt with a lot of narcissists, so that episode brought up a lot of bad memories. Still enjoyed that episode.

Probably a Tex Mex thing. There's a lot more "Tex Mex" in the US then there is authentic Mexican (especially in the South), though over the last decade, authentic Mexican has become more popular across the US (you can find a Taco Food Truck just about anywhere here now).

I loved Casa Bonita. I loved the food as a kid. I loved the cave. I loved the arcade games. I loved the gift shop. I remember the Smurf characters for sale. I loved the puppet show. I loved going there as an adult, especially with young children, even though they took out a lot of the fun of the cave. I couldn't eat the food when I became an adult, not because it wasn't good, but my dietary restrictions made it impractical, but I still loved visiting the restaurant for all that remained. It's been a bummer that it's been shuttered for so long. I'm eager to see what Matt and Trey have done to the place. I don't care whether the food is better.

I think the reason the the boys keep Cartman around is because he would do something clutch to save the day every once in a while. Most of the other episodes he's a maniac!

As a huge fan of Trey Parker and Matt Stone's work I love seeing you enjoying those for the first time. I would highly recommend: Trapped in the Closet - (Season 9 Episode 12) It's where they make fun of scientology and Tom Cruise, it must be one of their biggest lawsuit following an episode. Isaac Hayes, who played Chef, left the show because he didn't agree with them picking on scientology. followed by: The Return of Chef (Season 10 episode 1) Since Isaac Hayes left without recording a farewell episode, they used stock footage audio from previous seasons to conclude Chef's story. It may start off as mean, but every joke they make is aimed at scientology and not Isaac, I'm sure they miss him and his amazing voice.

My brother was in the army and I have similar stories about rations. There's something about them that are nice

Casa Bonita is real. I've been there, and it's almost exactly as depicted in the show.

They sell a bunch of MREs on eBay from various countries. I've bought a bunch from China, South Korea, Slovenia and the US ones that your dad bought home and they are super fucking nice, I must agree.

I still find it hilarious that Trey and Matt bought Casa Bonita.

I was in British Army for 4 years, and was same alot lads not love the rations, but I actually quite liked them. At the end of an exercise I would go round and get the ration packs of people who did not want them then have them in thr block back in camp on an evening :). Just stick the bag in a kettle full of water, boil kettle, done, hot meal or pudding in 1 minute yummy. And yeah I am gonna find a place that sells the army ration packs, or failing that camping shops with di boil in the bag meals to take for camping.

Some of my favorites are S12 E6 "Over logging", S16 E8 "Sarcastaball", S7 E2 "Krazy Kripples"

Didn't Cartman invite Kyle to his party? Ok, he beat him up and sent everyone home, because Kyle brought him "Ants in the Pants" boardgame instead of the red Power Ranger, but he invited him ...

This is my all time favorite episode of South Park.

I love how Cartman made up all these random nonsensical rules that don't make sense. Like that a meteor brought lethal radiation. Or that the radiation turns you into a cannibal. Or that if a cannibal bites you, you become a cannibal too.

In this episode you can confirm how lack of empathy is Cartman, a total sociopath. Butters and Timmy are the nicest of the bunch and that would never betray their friendships. Even Stan and Kyle had their moments of douchery. That’s why I like Butters, but the makers of the show love to mess with him lol Always thought that if any of the show would turn into a serial killer, it would be either Cartman or Butters (butters parenting plus being abused al the time by everyone can forge that, despise him being this nice).

You can get army rations on Ebay and amazon. Cases are like 60-75 bucks.

I'm with you. When I was in elementary school, we went on a field trip to a military base and we got to try pre-packaged rations. I was one of very few that actually liked it. I had sauced steak strips. They weren't Gordon Ramsay quality but they were still pretty delicious. I've been looking into army surplus stores around my area but neither of them sell rations

What?, seriously?, did they buy it?, no way. Jesus, I haven't been updated about their "shenanigans" for a long time.

The episode is called Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics and the song is their variation of Dreidel. Each person singing their own lyrics in harmony with everyone else. Cartman insulting Jewish people being one of them.

I went there on vacation when I was 12. I had no idea it was a whole experience until I walked in. It was so much fun. Especially the cliff divers right next to my table and a show would happen every 15 minutes. I feel like I made some random friend. I vividly remember what the floor looks like. Like those permanent shoes in "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs." There were like 24 different capsule toy dispensers with really cool stuff. Not just average junk. Now Matt and Trey bought it and are turning it into a super high-class restaurant because it was going out of business or something. So awesome. Nobody knows when it opens. But they've already been potentially working on it for a year. I'm for sure making a trip to Colorado when it does. Probably my favorite state, weed, loads of friends live there, and the columbine is my favorite flower. It's gonna be awesome, especially if it opens in early Spring. Instant-reservation, either way.

I know this is an old video, but hopefully you'll see this comment. There's an army surplus company called U.S. Calvary. It might be expensive but they carry M.R.E.'s and should ship to Japan. Even if you don't particularly like them it's handy to keep a case or two in case of an emergency/natural disaster. They have a shelf life of 6 years at room temperature.

Mr Hanky's Christmas special was when they were singing. Kyle was singing the Dradel song and Cartman kept singing over them.

Cartman isnt bipolar. He has single focus to get what he believes he deserves. There are no rules or extremes to accomplish his goal.

The scene where they cross in front of the town in perfect condition is comedy gold because it emphasizes how ridiculous Cartman's efforts are.

The difference between Cartman and a character like Butt-head (From Beavis and Butt-Head and I name him on his own because he's the instigator of the many terrible deeds that the terrible twosome do.) Is that Cartman does everything out of spite and NEVER admits to having done anything wrong. Which is a psychopath's MO. Butt-Head on the other hand has no issue with admitting guilt whenever he's caught red-handed because for him everything is done out of boredom, the town of Highland is small and very isolated, there's simply nothing going on. Butt-Head's constant search for "Something cool" drives him to do the most despicable things, he lacks the mental capacity to plan things out as elaborately as Cartman does. But he doesn't need to, just as long as at the end of it he can go "Huh-huh, that was cool!"

I have watched South Park for over 15 years and I have never noticed that the director of animation is named Eric Leopold Stotch. I wonder how long he's been employed.

Casa Bonita is a real place surprisingly.

Casa Bonita is set to reopen soon this month. If you want to go there when it opens, but if you live outside Colorado, you may have to travel many miles if you're interested.

First off, poor gullible, naive and innocent Butters... Definitely one of my favorite episodes. One less i have to recommend 😂 Thankfully The real Casa Bonita is in good hands with the creator's of South Park. Such an iconic place I. the world of South Park.

I think the only time Cartman specifically sang a song ripping on Kyle for being Jewish was his bit of the "Dreidal Song" in the "Mr Hankey Christmas Special" in season 3 or 4...

2:15 South Park basically predicted the future! When Chris Brown had his infamous scandal, his response was to wear almost exactly what Cartman was wearing to get people to forgive him 😂

Eric makes fun of Kyle being a Jew in multiple episodes but the one where he sings about it is part of a Holiday song from Episode 15 of Season 3: Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics (I Have a Little Dreidel). You should check that out if you haven't already.
